Microsoft VB Grade Book. A teacher maintains a database containing two tables-student and grades. The students table has three fields: studentID, lastName, and firstName. The Grades table has four fields: studentID, firstExam, secondExam, and finalExam. At the beginning of the semester, the Students table is filled in completely with a record for each student in a class, and the Grades table has a record for each student that contains only the student's ID number. (Note: The database is contained in the file Gradebook.accdb from the folder CH10Databases.) Write a program that allows the instructor to record and process the grades for the semester. The program should do the following:
A) Use a navigation toolbar to fill the Grades table.
B) After all the grades have been entered, display a DataGridView control showing the name of each student and his or her semester average. The semester average should be calculated as (firstExam + secondExam + 2*finalExam)/4.
I am currently working on building a kiosk, and I have to make the pdf reader part in vb.net. The pdf reader should have following functionalities. 1. It should be able to print the pdf showing by clicking a button saying PRINT instead of the adobe reader print button
2. I must hide the menu bar, navigation bar, etc from the adobe reader AxAcroPDF because it is a touch screen application and we don't want people to be able to get any access to the actual computer.
I am currently trying to create a generic navigation control with a similar style to the outlook navigation bar. I have figured out how I would be able to dynamically create the bottom part where you select the menu option, but I'm struggling to figure out how I would be able to create the top part, which can contain any user control that the developer would want.So basically what I'm trying to figure out is, is there a way to allow for a developer to add controls to a specific area of your user control?
If there is a way of achieving that then if anyone knows how to do this;In ASP.Net you have the login controls and with one of them, you are able to have different views depending on whether the user who is viewing the web page is logged in or not. Is there a way of achieving this in VB.Net for a user control that could be set up so that I could have the developer able to switch the view in the designer to show them the view for when a specific navigation option has been selected.
I have been perusing the internet in search of the best way to accomplish this, but have had no luck. If someone here has experience with Office add-ins, I'm not asking for a solution by any means, just assistance with which direction to take. The software I'm working on is primarily in VB.Net and C#; IDE is VS2008 Here's my scenario:
I'm writing an application that I want to keep status text always on the taskbar. Some programs like Windows Media player create a toolbar that can be added to the taskbar. Is there a way to do this in VB.NET, and if so how ... ?
I can create a notifyicon, and although it can be used to display notifications I need the text information to always be displayed... I could have used different icons to show a change in status in the notifytray but I really need text to display the status.
I'm wondering how I would go about creating a program that once installed was a windows toolbar. What I'm trying to do is similar to the clipboard, but I want to customize it to my own style. I work in a data entry job and many of the bills we enter have similar information that I'd like to be able to enter without repeated typing. I'd like the toolbar to be docked to the top of the screen, and have several buttons on it. Clicking a button, while having a focus in my data entry program, would paste the button's text (or the full text of what the button caption represented) into the selected field. Alternately, if focus between multiple applications is too difficult to try, then clicking the button would highlight the text and copy it to the windows clipboard, so I could then click back into my data entry program and hit ctrl-v. I dont need help on the program itself...just on how to make it as a windows toolbar, if possible.
I have been learning VB2008 and have been working a little with the toolstrip. While this question isn't really urgent, I've been thinking down the road about images and image libraries that I would like to build and use in my programs. I am thinking I should set up my own library so that all programs I write will have the same look (at least as often as I want them to).
1) What does everyone use to create images? What programs, features, etc. are important? Eg. I have MSPaint and and old version of CorelDraw but have never really used them to high quality stuff.
2) Are people just using the images provided in VB2008 Pro?
3) What should I consider when working with images for use in Windows Forms programming? Currently I am not doing any web work.
I believe that this is in the correct forum due to it being about creating an interface item, but if I am wrong then let me know and I'll try and bring this thread to the attention of the mods to be moved to a more appropriate forum. The one thing that I have thought of that could possibly cause a problem is having the capability of knowing when one of the user controls has been clicked, while I haven't figured this out exactly, I believe I should be able to achieve this by having an event for the navigation user control that provides the developer a reference to the control.
While I would hope that I have explained what I'm thinking well, its before my first coffee of the morning so I might have missed out some detail which would help someone to help me if I have then please let me know and I'll provide any details required. Also if what I'm envisioning is Pie in the sky, then let me know and I'll just have to make a base which I would just have to make a more bespoke system.
I am learning VB 2008 newly. I want to develop a students database. I have prepared all the required specifications. I have started using VB2008. I have created the initial form. I now want to navigate to the next form by clicking one of the buttons created. It shall go to the next form that displays students personal details.
I am not able to find how to create a new form that will navigate from the exissting initial main form.
I have a textbox and a button in form.when I fill textbox with a website address/ url and button clicked, automatically open a web browser such as firefox or internet explorer and navigate to this website.
I put 4 buttons on my form. cmdFirst cmdPrevious cmdNext cmdLast How can I navigate my MS Access database using these buttons. I don't want to use .ADO instead I would like to use my own buttons with code (OLEDB).
Basically, I have created a search facility which is housed inside the navigation control on every page. My predecessor set every single page up enclosed in a form for postbacks.
I need these postbacks to continue working however I need the search when submitted to post to go to a separate page and post the data. I tried various methods such as "postbackURL" on the ImageButton but it didn't do anything.
Below is an example of my form code from my navigation.ascx control:
i need something like TabControl, example: if i have navigation menu on the left side of form and if i click on the menu's button then i want to change right side of form, like in skype's option or in outlook
I'm try to make a multiple form as like as navigation form. There are several form(MainForm, Form1,Form2,....and Next Form)in the MainForm i'm put a "ADD" button, when i click on the add button Form1 is show up. On the Form1 there are 3 button (Back,Next, and Cancel) when i'm click Next Button on the Form1 then Form2 is show up and the same way to next button / back button
How to implement a floating toolbar in the desktop form that can be placed anywhere in the form and also tell me if this can be called by other form other than actual form implementing it to display to the user for some common purpose.
I'm trying to set up a data entry form using my own toolbar as a navigator. I am able tor retrieve the data fine, but I'm having trouble with the record navigation. I'm tring to use the movefirst/last/previous/next methods of a bindingsource to move from record to record, but it's not working. The code is below. Apparently I'm not properly attaching the bindingsource..but nothing I try seems to work.
Imports System.Data.Common Imports System.Data.SqlClient Public Class Form1
I have two questions concerning navigation in a 'mutlipage' control embedded in a form layout in Excel:
(1) I would like to be able to automatically move from page_1 to page_2 through a closeout button click command on page_1 (i.e. when actions are complete on page 1, page 2 will open without needing to click on the tab). Is this achievable ?
(2) secondly, While realising it is a simple step to set up navigation to another Excel workbook, is it conveniently possible (from a button command in the multipage) to open another directory, e.g. MMC console
I've two forms Form1 and Form2, I want to add container(*) in form2 having toolstrip(Toolbar) and later want to display that container(containing toolstrip) in Form1, that enable the user to use toolstrip to execute needed actions written in form2.
when i try to run my form it says:An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: Cannot create ActiveX component
I have another question (and anticipate that I will have about two more before I'm done with my class project). Here is my issue (and I'll copy and paste my code for clarification). I need to link up the control from the form on either side of the current form that I'm working on so that if I click on the buttons that I'm titling previous and next that I can click on the proper button and either go directly to the previous form or the next form. I was successful in doing this for two earlier forms on this project (with some direction from a couple of helpful people on this forum before), but for some reason, no matter what I details I use the controls do not connect to the previous and next forms.

I am trying to add a toolbar to my app and I would like to use larger icons than the standard 16x16. An older VB6 app that I created had large icons but I cannot figure out how to get my VB.net app to change to use the large icons.
I am using VB.net 2010 and sql server 2008. I want to have data navigation buttons like next, previous, last , first etc. I am using data reader object to accomplish database manipulation. Now, I want to show Next database row, on Next button press, and same with previous etc.
I am using visual basic and when I try to hide Navigation bar, I am not able to, it is disabled. Ok I tried to turned it off going to "all languages", althought I unchecked the setting. It didn't disappear. I restarted visual studio, closed all open classes. It is just visual basic, when I try with c# I can hide and show it.
