Error Unrecognized Database Format 'C:Program FilesMahrsoftRafiq And CompanyDatabasemaindb.mdb'

Jul 17, 2009

I am using windows vista and visual studio 2008 pro. I am facing a strange error. In the main form of my application i am opening a connection to a database using OLEDB 2.7 like:

conStr = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:Program FilesMahrsoftRafiq and CompanyDatabasemaindb.mdb;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=*****"
con.ConnectionString = conStr
con.CursorLocation = ADODB.CursorLocationEnum.adUseClient
con.Open()

But it give an error on the last line like:

Unrecognized database format 'C:Program FilesMahrsoftRafiq and CompanyDatabasemaindb.mdb'.

I can open the database using ms access 2007 and it is showing every table and i can open the tables and view data but what is the problem with connection?

DB/Reporting :: Unrecognized Database Format?

Jun 3, 2008

Alright, so I am getting the error "Unrecognized database format 'location'" on a project I have been working on for a while now.First off here, I am working in VBE2008, SP 3, fully updated Jet drivers, I have repaired/updated the database, and I have made an Access 2000 and 2003 version to test.Best part is, is I am working with 2 databases, one to be carried with the program, one to be outside. When I was first working on the code, the database that is "unrecognizable" now was working fine until I had to change my format to carry it with the program.So I am assuming either my code is wrong, or some divine force has stricken my databases for something I did.

Code:
Dim conn As New OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OleDb.4.0;Data Source=C:StryperPrice.MDB")

Web Service On Server Error Request Format Is Unrecognized For URL?

May 9, 2009

Request format is unrecognized for URL unexpectedly ending Error I have 3 webservices on windows 2003 server. All worked fine before and are called from one .net application on another server. Recently I added a few new webservice calls, builded and published . All webservices works fine on development locally. On production server all stopped working.

I would like to know how to solve the problem and how to capture the failure of webservice call. The application that is calling those webservices starts new thread to process and shows user Thanks you will get an email. However webservices stopped working and it took couple days to learn that nothing is happening, after research I learned that webservices do not work anymore. Bummer, I do not know how to alert in this case.But first more important how to fix it. On development server in VS 2005 all webservices works perfect. After publishing and testing on server to Invoke a service, the Error ....unexpectedly ending.. appears. After reading many happy postings that modifying Web.config node protocols, I discovered that instead of

Convert A GUID-like String To A Different Format?

Jan 12, 2010

Here's the basic premise though: I need to convert a GUID-like string to a different format as shown in these examples:

Original String:
{291B3A3B-F808-45B8-8113-DF232FCB6C82}
Converted String
B3A3B192808F8B541831FD32F2BCC628

[Code].....

It works, but it doesnt seem very well written... Oh and if you are wondering why I wrote my own ReverseString method rather than just using the Reverse extension method on the String class - It seems to return a collection of chars rather than a string (god knows why) and I couldnt find any easy/obvious way to convert this collection of chars back to a string (I thought just CStr would do it but apparently not)

Add An SQL Database File Using VS 2005 Getting Error Message Saying Version Of Database Server Not Supported?

May 18, 2009

I recently upgraded the MS SQL Server installed on my personal computer from 2005 Express to 2008 Express. Problem is when I try to add an SQL database file to a project using VS 2005 I get an error message saying that the version of my database server is not supported, I must have SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later installed. I didn't do it yet but I'm pretty sure that when I open the other projects that I included a database file to it, I'm going to get the same error.
My question is it possible to have two SQL Servers installed on my machine? If so, is it a good idea to have two DB servers in the same machine?

I have this application that updates information to a database. I had it working but whether I have deleted or changed something accidentally I don't know. This is the error that appears:

See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I've added a database to my application with 2 fields:"ip" address and "started" that holds the number the application was started from that specific IP.I want to upload the database to my site hosted at google.sites. When the program is started it should make a connection with the following cases:

1-no connection with the database (possible no internet available) - it should display an error message

2-there is connection, the IP is not stored on the database, it addes the IP to the database and the field "started" with the value 1

3-there is connection, the IP is stored on the database, it increments the field "started" by 1

C# - Nullable(of Guid) With Generic Delegate Causes Weird (hidden) Error?

Scroll to the bottom, EDIT 19 onwards. See @Chris's comments also for good examples

It's all gone quiet since Edit 19ish and @Chris reinforcing the issue with a good example (thank you Chris). I'll make the question a little easier (and attempt to tidy up all of the above), can anyone prove this is not an MS bug or similar? It seems to be something under the hood is not correctly wired up for VB.Net with regards to Nullable Structures and Events? However, all other cases using the Nullable Structures does appear to work?

Pull A GUID From Database In Order To Update A Username?

Jul 13, 2010

I have a SQL database that is different than the one in ASP.net so I had to create a custom membership Provider. The provider to get the user looks like this:My SQL class name is CustomSqlProvider:

Public Overrides Function GetUser(ByVal username As String, _
ByVal userIsOnline As Boolean) As MembershipUser
'Dim connectionString As String = "Server=***;Database=***;User Id=***password=****"'

[code]....

After adding those gets and sets and assigning parameter variables to my Sproc parameters I get the following error: "Reference not set to an instance of an object." at this line of code:

Dim currentUser As MembershipUser = Membership.GetUser()
Dim UserId As Guid = CType(currentUser.ProviderUserKey, Guid)

And this is what I have on the UserInfo.aspx.vb Page under the Button click:

Dim sql As New SqlClient.SqlCommand("Update_User", con)
sql.Parameters.Add("@UserId", SqlDbType.UniqueIdentifier).Value = UserId
sql.Parameters.Add("@UserName", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = txtUserName.Text

Invalid Path To Database Error Message After Deploying Project Created In Program2010

Jul 6, 2011

Is there any literature which guides a user through the steps of deploying a vb project created with VS 2010 Professional and incorporating SQL 2008RE Database?

I have a VB project which incorporates 2 databases - 1 Access Db and 1 SQL Db. The project compiles and runs beautifully. However, after adding the databases in the project as existing items and deploying, the project opens/runs, but when I try to login the application I keep getting an error message telling me that the path to the .mdb (Access) database is not a valid path. I don't have a clue what else to do.

If I write the following inside my class,

What I'm trying to accomplish is to get rid of this line that shows up in the Designer file,

I can avoid running the property's Set code with some conditionals on the Value sent when the form instances. I was just wondering if there's a way to deal with it similar to other data types.
