My mailbox regularly gets emails from people wanting to promote their events. Usually the subject line looks like this:

I need a script to read the date, then make an appointment on my outlook calendar, using that date, time and term (TMC) as the meeting title. So it should make an appointment on 5/19/2012 at 1pm, called "TMC meeting"All appointments are 2 hours by default.I used The identifiers "*" and "<>" as an example, and can be changed to be whatever, what is important is that the meeting gets on my calendar with the correct title.

Manage A Large Number Of Similar Controls In A User Interface (such As Button Or TextBox Controls)

There is newer code in a follow up post. I suggest using the code in the later post rather than the code in this one. You can still read this post though. When designing a user interface, one should be conscious of how many individual controls are required to implement the functionality. In some cases an initial design may begin with many buttons or textboxes (for example) but then further review of
the actual required functionality allows for a reduction in the number of unique controls.

But other times, there isn't a better way (which will still make sense to the user of the application) then to have a series of many repeated controls. So in the cases where one can be certain that the best UI implementation for an application will require the use of multiple copies of a given control, then it often becomes necessary to maintain some method of managing all of those controls at various points
throughout the application. Doing so typically requires that one build up some collection of controls which can then be accessed by index in order to work with any given control; but this can lead to a lot of clutter in the code file which handles these control's events. For instance there will be some kind of collection declaration, some recursive routine to find all of the controls of interest, and then any number of event handler methods with long lists of Handles clauses, or additional code loops to wire up the event handling for each control.

Purpose Since most of this functionality could be considered a requirement regardless of the type of control being managed, or its required functionality, it may make sense to wrap all of the control management functionality into a single class. And since our first requirement is a collection of controls, then a base collection class could be the perfect starting point for our control manager. There are a number of existing thread around this topic, with some recent (at the time of this writing) ones being:[URL]..In this, and related, threads I have posted examples of a simple TextBoxManager and ButtonManager control. But again, with so much similar functionality required regardless of the control being managed, it would be technically possible to create a generic ControlManager(Of T As Control) class which can manage any type of control.

So in summary, one can facilitate managing a large number of user interface controls by building a "control manager" class which both encapsulates the list of control instances, and deals with adding and removing defined event handlers for every control it manages. The generic control manager class itself can be inherited and extended into a more specific class on a per-application basis in order to provide more application-specific functionality. I've got an HTML file that has a table in it. The table is some kind of a planboard. It contains the amount of planned hours for an employee for a customer on day x over a whole year. Our guys need it in their outlook schedules.Here is what i've built so far- Form to set parameters (select starttime, select input html file, alerting on or off)- Function that deletes all appointments within a set time frame that have a subject that starts with "project: "- Class that extracts all appointments from html and transforms them into outlook appointmentsEverything works peachy! -Except deleting appointments. I'm stuck! I've tried making a selection of appointments between two dates, i've tried looking for appointments on all days between to dates. It does not delete all items, just some of them. Of the23 occurences it should delete, it only deletes 12 OR 13 at random.

I have connected to Active directory before usign VB.NET and would think it would be similar in terms of connecting to the exchange server to get the data.

Forms :: Outlook Style Month Calendar?

This is my first post. So there goes it. I have been trying to make an appointment calendar with different views ( weekly, daily, hourly, monthly) in my windows form application using VB express 2008. I have tried using a tablelayoutpanel and splitting it so each cell will correspond to a date in the monthcalendar control. My problem is how to link the two together. How to select a cell in monthcalendar and assign it to a cell in the tablelayoutpanel. I can do this when selecting a date but I would want all to be loaded when form is loaded. My end result would look similat to the calendar on this forum.

I have a simple form in VB.NET with one button which when clicked opens an Outlook Explorer to display an Outlook Calendar. When the user closes the Explorer, the form picks up the close event, garbage collects the Outlook objects and attempts to close itself.

However the Me.Close() does not work - if I pause the code on the Me.Close line and set a watch on the Me form object, lots of the form properties say "{"Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'Form1' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on."}System.InvalidOperationException" If someone could help me out with this one I would be a very happy bunny...

I could duplicate the fonts but how do I get it to scroll? We are working on an asp.net 2.0 web app that emails users an ical to save to their outlook 2003 calendar. We noticed none of the code to update or delete an item seem to work even though the ical 2.0 spec supports it. We are curious if Outlook 2003 just ignores this?Does Outlook 2007 act differently?We have situations where an event may change or be cancelled which fires off an email notification but the updated ical just adds a new event, it nevers deletes and or moves the original.

I have a form with a TabControl on it. On the first tab I have a DataGridView and I have a series of controls to represent six separate filters that can be applied to the data in the DataGridView. Each of these filters consists of 1. a ComboBox to display the columns in the DGV so the user can select one to filter on2. a ComboBox to contain the different filter conditions ("Equal to", "Greater Than", etc...)3. a TextBox to allow the user to enter the string to filter againstSo that's what's on the first tab. Tabs 2,3, and 4 are visually identical to tab 1 although they will hold different data and have different capabilities.

I have written a code in VB.NET using "Microsoft Outlook 11.0 Object Library" to create an appointment, task or contact in Outlook. Now the problem is once i create an appointment, task or contact from my VB.NET code and then if i open these item in outlook and modifies and save the content (like body of an appointment) then the lastmodification time of these item doesn't gets modified. It always shows the previous lastmodification time. This happens only for those item which got created from my VB.NET code.

I have tried realsing the COM object in my VB.NET Code.

I work for a somewhat large company.There are about 160 Windows XP Pro users. We are still using Microsoft Office 2000 for the most part.We have upgraded some users to Office 2003. We are not using Microsoft Exchange.I have to export every users' Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2003 Contacts into an Excel or CSV file every 6 months as a way of backing the Outlook Address Contacts.Currently I am doing this by physically going to every pc and manually exporting the contacts.This is a large pain.I am trying to find out if I can use or create a Visual Basic 2008 Express program or script that will export the contacts from Outlook and save it as an Excel or CSV file.The name of the file should be the same as the computers net name.It should be saved in the same location, on the network, each time.I am new to programming and new to VB 2008 Express.I do not know or have any code to start with.
