Detect When The User Clicks The X Or Closes The Console App?
May 24, 2010
I have aconsole application that executes 2 other processes, and then closes the processes once it's finished its work.
If the user closes the console application prematurely, the 2 other processes go rogue and sit idle (As they are expecting to be closed by the console).
Is it possible to detect when the user clicks the X or closes the console app in another fashion, so I can also destroy the spawned processes?
I am using the media player control in my VB2010 project and hit a problem. I want to detect when a user has pressed the "next " button on the media player console.I can use the following code to detect the pause, play, fast forward, etc but I do not see anything that will detect when the "next" button is pressed.
I am in the process of moving a program from development to deployment. Program built with VS2005 and .NET 2.0. On one of the computers I need to deploy on, I'm having a problem. Very early in the program, seemingly before the main form_load routine begins, I'm getting an exception. But I can't see the information about it, except for a fleeting split second. As a part of its normal operation, my program (a Windows Application) creates a console for itself, using AllocConsole. This takes place as part of the constructor of a global variable, so it comes before form_load. The console appears, without contents. Then pops up a window saying, "<program> has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." When I click on the Don't Send button, a full page of "unhandled exception" information appears -- for a fleeting moment, far less than a second. Then the console closes, because the program has closed.I've tried everything to get at this information. I tried running the program from a cmd console, instead of letting it create its own console. No output appears at all. I'm still working on remote debugging, but I can't get that to work either.
I've been looking around the internet and I haven't really found any solution to my problem. Is there a way to perform a function when a user closes the form either by pressing the X button in the top right hand corner? I am using a database that saves what form the user is currently looking at, and when the application is closed I want to say "offline."
I have one form which stays open, and lots of other forms which can are opened and closed regularly how can i detect that a form has closed on the main form?
I need to record the screen when my user clicks start, and stop recording when he clicks stop.I've searched for a while on this subject, and I have found nothing.I want to do this without adding any files to my project, I just want to use some built in function in Visual Basic, and start recording, or even take a snapshot and add it to an AVI file or something...These are some sites I have found:

This code is in VB6, but I am not sure how to even start using it?
Im using the code from [URL] as a starter, most of the code is the same. the chat system works fine but on the client a added a disconnect button "clientSocket.Close()" and as soon as i click that i get errors, on the client, this is the code...
Private Sub getMessage() For infiniteCounter = 1 To 2
[CODE]...
And this line...
serverStream.Read(inStream, 0, buffSize) gives me "Unable to read data from the transport connection: A blocking operation was interrupted by a call to WSACancelBlockingCall."
Now im talking the server, after the client clicks disconnect or closes by task manager, looses connection, etc the server crashes and gives me.
hello, i'm trying to build a application for my buddy who plays online games and has asked for a simple program to click the mouse button within his game that he plays for a certain amount of time with a certain duration between. my questions comes ( and i searched but didnt find much useful information for .net framework anyway) about how to detect a combination of keystrokes to start an action and further more to send a click event to the game that should be main focus. i'd also appreciate any tutorials on sending information to other forms controls etc. thank you for any help
How would I make my VB Program detect mouse clicks? I want the code in a timer. So if I turn the timer on, my program will detect a Mouse click and then do the rest of the Timer code. And after the timer code is done, I want it to do it again until the timer is closed. So if the timer is on, every time I click the mouse, (anywhere on screen) it will do the rest of timer code.
Is there a simple way to have a code library automatically detect if it's being called from a console application or a windows application? I'd like my library not to report to the Windows Event log if it's being called from a console window, but instead report to the console window. If however, it's not being run from within a console window, it should report to the Windows Event Log.
I thought about requiring my the logging component to be passed the log target, but it would be neat if it could just automatically handle these two targets natively. I don't yet require something as extensive as log4net, indeed, if it becomes necessary to provide support to log to a database/file and other as yet unknown logging targets, then I may recommend such a solution. For now though, just having my component auto-detect the environment and log to the console or the event log according to the environment would be plenty.
Is there an easy way to disable all form validation when the user clicks on the "X" icon to close an application or when the user clicks on a button in the application that closes the application?[url]...
I have a parent form and a few subforms. When the user clicks the red X to close the form I have a dialog box open that asks the user if he wants to exit the application. I have a issue when the user clicks no the application closes anyway. I am wondering what I am doing wrong. [Code]
I have a small problem with sockets (I'm new to sockets). Below is the code I'm using. The problem is that when the client closes, the server closes aswell. How do I stop it from doing that?
A program I'm developing launches dialog boxes to get information from the user. Right now, the user can still click on and manipulate the main form while the dialog box is open. How can I make the main form inaccessible until the user closes the dialog box?
Im trying to check and see if the right clicks on a link in a webbrowser, if so enable a button on the contextmenustrip that allows him to open it in a different tab.

-User Opens program -User goes to settings.(Settings has a bunch of RadioButtons) -User Customizes settings, checks certain buttons. (How would I pop up a msg when the user clicks "Ok" with out checking something? -When "Ok" is pressed, it will "save" -When settings is opened again, the same RadioButtons will be checked.
Right now, if I exit the settings form, and open it again, the radio buttons are cleared
I looked everywhere for this but not sure if it can be done. Is there a way to fire events when a user clicks a specific tab. Here is the image to show it better:I am trying to have the program execute a special function when the user clicks on customer info.
I currently have a few comboboxes in my project that on the 'Dropdown' event, I have them show items from a database that I have bound to the Combobox, I have tried this on several other events too with the same result. The problem i'm having is when the user clicks the dropdown but doesn't select anything, it automatically defaults the first item in the combobox although nothing was ever really selected so what I want is the combobox to remain blank UNTIL they click on an item in the dropdown, is there a way to avoid this? Is there some code I can place in the combobox's selected indexchange to prevent the first item in the list from appearing unless it was actually physically clicked?
I know that using Dim currUser As String = Request.ServerVariables("LOGON_USER") retunrs the DomainUsername, but I want to know what Group that user is in say in Active Directory.
