Jul 24, 2005I am using a Microsoft Access Database and I cannot get the Update to work. I assigned a Primary Key in the Access table, but I still receive the error: "Dynamic SQL generation for the UpdateCommand is not supported against a SelectCommand that does not return any key column information"

Oct 16, 2006im new to vb.net 2003 but have used vb 6 for years and dabbled with 2005. A program that would usually take me a few hours to make i am on day 5, 4 and a half of which have been trying different ways to get it to update, and not one of them will post the information back to the SQL 2000 database I am actually going insaine.
The best i can get out of it is this error. "Dynamic SQL generation for the UpdateCommand is not supported against a SelectCommand that does not return any key column information" I have googled it and come up with the fact the primary key isnt set right, but i still cant get that to work. Mar 19, 2010Getting the following error when running my application.Dynamic SQL generation for the UpdateCommand is not supported against a SelectCommand that does not return any key column information.On form load it reads the database to the textboxes for the user, they can then change their details.On clicking the save button I am attempting to update the database with the information from a textbox but the above error is thrown and I'm not a bit lost.[code]

The number of times is not known when the application is build.So form with the number of containers must be generated by code. When the number of containers is high a scroll bar must be shown.My idea was to use the control TableLayoutPanel. The first row consists of the container with it's controls. When loading the form a number is calculated. This number is used to show the number of containers.

Only servers up to Microsoft SQL 2005 are supported VB.NET" I am using VB.NET 2008 and attempting to connect to SQL Server 2008 with XP as the operating system. I have service pack 1 installed in Visual Studio but this error message presists. The articles I have read on this error said to install sp1 as a solution but I have done that and the error persists. FYI, the error does not occur when I am using code to connect to SQL Server but when I attempt to connect using one of the designer wizards this error occure.

Sep 17, 2009I have a vb.net application that I want to dynamically create a search criteria using a SQLDataSource. I was trying to dynamically generate a select statement with parameters, assign that string to the selectCommand for the SQLDataSource then selectively assign the parameters.
The issue is several fields (user id) (user name) (email addr)... that I wanted to allow the user to enter any number of these and construct the select given what they entered.
That works if I just construct the string. But I want to use parameters for some sql injection protection as that page will be viewable on the internet.
What happens is I assign the select command but the SqlDataSource does not pick up that there are now some parameters that were not there before.
as in.

Concurrency Violation: UpdateCommand?
Jan 28, 2011My users are getting this error when trying to update the database:
"Concurrency violation: UpdateCommand affected 0 of the expected 1 records"
All the users are doing is clicking a button which updates a record.No two users are updating the same record or even within the same column. They could be updating within the same row but still not the same record.It seems to be happening when the program is open for a little while and they come back and try to update the database through the program. I have read a little bit about this error but none seem to lead to a clear solution.It seems like the database connection is timing out due to inactivity?Here is my update command:
