Creating a new database in a Windows Forms project (done according to one of the MSDN tutorials) results immediately in a "The event log is full" error. The database exists as an item in the project, but cannot be opened or configured (i.e.,it doesn't exist really). newly installed MS SQL Server Compact Edition,This is a new computer (though fully updated), and to my knowledge no other versions of SQL server are installed.I note that someone else has contributed a message about the exact same problem (according to a preview in the MSDN search results page), although for unknown reasons clicking on the item does not take me to that message.

When you Use Socket.Send Ether in VB6 with the Winsock control or Vb.Net sockets / Windows API does it generate that if you send "Hello" that on the other side it will get the Full Message Before the Data Arrival event is triggered??Or is it possible it can get it in two Different events like "He" & "llo" and a Last question, TCP is stream oriented, is there a Protocol that is Message Oriented but is wrapped with TCP, if not what is a good Delimitor to use with TCP, Usually ide use &H1 OR &H0 but I assume &H0 is common.. or Should I just add a Length Param before each Packet I send..?Now if thats the case and I got the Delimitor route... What if Im sending Chunks of 8192 of a File in a while loop and on a different thread I send a Command if I use the Length Param isent there a huge chance that the messages will get sent like this

BUT the issue lies as it thinking that only the 3 of 4 of the incomming file Frames are getting Recv due to it not knowing which frames are for which. Mainly due to me sending a big burst and on the other side recving random chunk sizes on the other side.Edit: Got another question, If I send two bytes across the internet via TCP, will they ever arrive as two different I belive the term is Frame or is that only when they exceide the size of the MTU will the Message be Split. The reason why is if I send a Header saying SOH, Length Of Message(2Bytes), thats 3 bytes can I say 100% of the time the computer on the otherend will recv that all at once so I can parse it? And What ever happen to Flush for Winsock?
I have a process that I start in this manner: Process.Start("pwace", "/a C:18537-1ff.ace") The .ace loads a DBF and it is simply told where to find it like this: 18537-1.ace. When running the .ace file manually, this is fine. However, when starting the process through a VB program, the EXE (pwace.exe) acts like it doesn't know where the .ace file is located, so it can't simply append the .ace path to the .dbf to find it and the program errors out telling me to specify the .dbf with a full path.
So, I set an absolute path to the .dbf in the program, and it works fine. This leads me to believe it is an issue similar to shortcuts where if you don't set a 'Start In' path, your program has to have absolute paths defined to be able to launch external files with Process.Start(), and not simply filenames.
With that all said, is there a way I can indicate to the Process.Start() from VB where this file is located, sort of like a' Start In' path, so that my files don't have to be configured with absolute paths. And remember, it matters where the .ace file is located, not the actual .exe process that is started. The .ace file is simply a settings file for the pwace.exe to get it's parameters from. The reason I don't like to set absolute paths is because of the environment I'm in and for these .ace programs, it is better if the .dbf files are not given absolute paths.
I have made quite a nice and tidy little game. Its based around space invaders and works quite well. however because i have finished my college project almost 2 weeks ahead of the assignments release date, my tutor has asked me to tweak my project and make it better. So far i have added a full main menu to the game and a full splash screen. I would like to add in a section for recorded high scores but have no idea how to attempt this at all.

I have a VB.NET application writtene using VS 2008 and have been receiving a weird error when a form is closed - it gives me the following error message:
Windows has triggered a breakpoint in MyApplication.exe.
This may be due to a corruption of the heap, which indicates a bug in MyApplication.exe or any of the DLLs it has loaded. This may also be due to the user pressing F12 while MyApplication.exe has focus. The output window may have more diagnostic information.
The immediate window then has this error message:
Critical error detected c0000374
I tried fixing this by just hiding the window, but this simply moves the error up the chain and I get an error when exiting the program as it tries to close the form:
Unhandled exception at 0x7700e29b in MyApplication.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x00000000.
I don't think I'm doing anything particularly strange in my application - reading from and writing to a database is about as complicated as anything gets for me. I've tried using AppVerifier, but then the program won't even open. I'm at a real loss as I don't know anything about memory management, or what a heap is. I just can't work out why this error is happening
By the way, the application compiles and runs fine on my old 32-bit computer running WinXP professional, but my new 64-bit Windows 7 computer is just not having it, even though I have targeted the compile for x86 and followed every bit of advice I could find on geting it to work in Windows 7. Should Windows 7 and VS 2008 really be incompatible? Do I need to get VS 2010 instead?
I have the following code in the Load event of my form and the 3rd statement obviously fails. My question, why does the code fail and not tell me about it? In other words, it fails and then simply displays the form without crashing. It also doesn't execute my 4th statement.[code]...

A developer has created a custom control in ASP.NET using VB.NET. The custom control uses a repeater. In certain scenarios, the rpt_ItemDataBound event is encountering a data error. My goal is rather than having the user see the yellow screen of death, give the user a friendlier error explaining exactly what the data error is. I figured I would be able to use a Try/Catch block as shown below throw the exception, however, it appears that the event has nowhere to be thrown to and stops executing at the "End Try" line.
Protected Sub rpt_ItemDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.RepeaterItemEventArgs) Handles rpt1.ItemDataBound, rpt2.ItemDataBound
Try
ProcessBadData...
Catch ex As Exception
Throw ex
End Try
End Sub
In VB.NET, I can find where the repeater's DataSource is being set, however, I can not find a DataBind event. How I can capture the exception in this ASCX control so I can report it to the user. The stack trace looks like this. There is another repeater within the repeater that is actually causing the error (rptOther) and I'm able to catch the error, but I can only throw it to the rpt_ItemDataBound. How rpt_ItemDataBound is getting called without a DataBind event.

AddHandler(ByVal value As JQDialogEventHandler)
commandHandler += value[code].....
I'm getting the error: Operator '+' is not defined for types 'ControlesModificados. ControlesModificados.JQDialogEventHandler' and 'ControlesModificados. ControlesModificados.JQDialogEventHandler'. How can i write this code "commandHandler -= value" in other way so the error goes away! or how can i defined those operators for the eventhandler.

As you can see the DialogCommand is using another JQDialogHandler, so i can't just use

View 2 RepliesI am working on a simple NES gaming reprogramming project (who doesn't try to program video games when they start out?) and am coming up with a goofy little error in my battle screen code. The Battle Screen is supposed to trigger and draw this form, but the thing redraws itself three or four times, creating an obvious and obnoxious triple-blink. Basically, the OnPaint event is still a bit of a mystery to me. Is there a way to reduce the amount of redraws so that it doesn't blink like it does?

I've read thru Iceplug's tutorial on control arrays and got it working. I tried to add a new event by basically copying his click event code and calling it a doubleclick event. I used the proper addhandler and assigned the correct name to my sub. I have the click event changing the background color to blue and the doubleclick event changing the background color to green. The background color does not change to green. Why?

I am writing a User Control. Into each control I am loading a custom biz object. Because the biz object implements IDataErrorInfo interface I am able to use the ErrorProvider control on the user control.
I am binding the ErrorProvider to the biz object like this:
Me.ErrorProvider1.DataSource=MyBizObject This is all working perfectly EXCEPT. The validation is happening (and therefore I am displaying the blinkey error signs next to all feilds) as soon as the User control is loaded into the host form.
Each biz object implements a SAVE method and I want the validate to not happen until the save event is triggered on the biz object.
I always get this error during the Paint event: System.AccessViolationException was unhandled. The weird thing is that it doesn't happen the first time it goes through.
Here's the code.
