Feature In VS2010 - Set Of Instructions And Save It As A Macro (ex: MYMACRO)
Dec 1, 2011
There is a feature I used to have in zOS assembler environment that I'd like to know if it's available in VS2010 (VB .net). In assembler it is called macro language :
First, I define a set of instructions and save it as a macro (ex: MYMACRO)
Second, anywhere in my source code I can call the macro (by adding the line "MYMACRO")
Third, when i launch the compilation/link step, the compiler implicitly replaces all the "MYMACRO" lines in the source code by the content of MYMACRO defined in first step.
Is there a feature like this in VS2010 ?
Example:
Content of macro CONTEXTSTART with a parameter &id
I wanted to develop a tool in which i want to use words Macro Like feature. In an Application there will be front-end (i.e. form) which will accepts basic information like name, age, gender,Marital Status,Address,Locality,Contact number etc... In a backend i will be having few fix text fromate in the database as a string or BLOB.( instead of databaes, i can even keep words text template)
Now what i want to do is:when user submites the form data, my app should use this submitted data and replace all the marked location in text formate with the data provided by form. and once the complete text string is generated , i want to generate word file ( and/or Pdf) file from this. How can i acheive this with any one of this language .NET( web or Desktop ) , QML ,QT,Java ?( Text Fromates : because most of the containts of the text will be the same, only few words (fileds) will be diffrent for each copy generated)
When I try to access the Macro IDE or open MyMacros I get the error: Vsaenv: Cannot find one or more components. reinstall the application. I have reinstalled (rebuild in place) VS2010 Pro - didn't help.
After the error the IDE goes away for a while and sometimes crashes and sometimes it returns to the code IDE. If I try again as often as not VS crashes hard. On reload it looks like it is going through rebuilding settings.
I've been working a lot in VS2010 express and notice when you highlite code and right click you can comment and uncomment it. Very handy.I've just started using VS 2010 Professional at work and that feature is not there. Why can't you do it on the professional version? (Or is it just missing on my machine?)
From a macro I am accessing a command that is on the toolbar:
Dim name As String = "Macros.MyMacros.MyMacros.ToggleExceptions" Dim cmd As EnvDTE.Command = DTE.Commands.Item(name)
How do I now change the caption of the command on the toolbar? It does not seem to have the necessary properties. Do I need to cast it to something else?
I am trying to build a macro that formats all modified files before saving them.
Public Module ReformatAndSave Sub SingleFile() DTE.ExecuteCommand("ReSharper.ReSharper_SilentCleanupCode") DTE.ActiveDocument.Save() End Sub Sub AllFiles()
I have a macro running in Autodesk Inventor that opens and closes an Excel workbook. When the macro closes the workbook a message box prompts whether I want to save or not.I dont. How can I close the message box without save and continue my macro.Or better yet, how can i keep this message box from even coming up?I've tried this where "oExcldoc" is the workbook:
oExcldoc.close (savechanges =false) it freezes up inventor.
I'm basically making an app to take screen shots in a game as I chat. There will be a bit more to it later, and I will likely be using PNG but that is besides the point for now.Whenever I take a screenshot and save, doesn't matter If I am saving converting quality or using system.drawing directly, the memory use goes up about 1.5MB per save. I'm rather new to VB.Net so I can't really figure out why...as far as I can tell I release everything.[code]Ihave tried setting it to nothing with no luck, and aside from that memory slowly goes up per time Enter is pressed. I'm not sure why data would be saving to memory when Subs and Functions are supposed to release data after use?
I have seen a different behavior before, but this time my application just doesn't work properly when debugging, while it does everything perfectly after compilation.
My project is beginning and does just one thing: monitor the clipboard and save its contents to a XML. It has just one form (frmMain), which, when loaded, puts itself in Windows clipboard listening, via WIN32 API. Then, whenever receives a message, the form has to check if it's from clipboard and, if so, saves the actual contents.
The code is below:
Public Class frmMain
Private Const WM_CLIPBOARDUPDATE As Integer = &H31D Private XmlDocument As System.Xml.XmlDocument
[CODE]...
So, as I've said, after compiling, everything works perfectly. However, when debugging the "AddItems" function is never called. I set a stop point in the line Win32 API is called (in frmMain_Load) and the execution NEVER STOPS THERE! Debugging line by line, I found out that after executing some lines from frmMain_Load, VStudio just jumps to WndProc and never comes back to frmMain. I mean, the form is shown, and the rest of its initialization code is never executed. Because of that, my form is never added to clipboard listening (this command is at the end of frmMain_Load) and, consequently, all messages my window receives are not from clipboard, and, therefore, nothing is saved.
Is it normal to VStudio just bypass some code because a event triggered other method? This could lead to lots of complications and it's not consistent with after compiling behavior. A proof that what I said is actually happening is this: I passed the last 5 lines from frmMain_Load (where the Win32API is called) to the beginning, so my program would call the API before initializing the XML file. OK, now what I have: the API is called, but the XML commands are never executed. Consequently, "AddNewEntry" is called, but I have a null-reference error, because my XML was never initialized. Have you ever faced that bizarre behavior? What can I do so my debugging is correct and I don't have to compile my program for each test I want to do?
I'm have a program (GUI) that interfaces with excel to execute macros. We're using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel to call/run the macros and this works great. What I can't figure out is a good way to cancel the macros from the GUI.One idea we had was to use the excel.application variable that runs the macros to write a "stop" value to a specific cell in the workbook, and in the macros (they are all mostly loops), check for the "stop" value in that cell. This crashes my GUI with this The program '[2188] BVLReports.vshost.exe: Managed' has exited with code -336589910 (0xebf00baa).And excel gets tied up, and won't respond. I know how to Exit Sub from within the macro if the "stop" value exists, so I don't need answers on how to check/cancel from inside the macro. Any ideas on a better way to write this "stop" value or a better way to cancel the macros externally?
Ok major problem with a paint program i am making. When i have a window overlap or anything and move to side of screen and minimize and maximize i lose whats in the picturebox...Here is an example of the code I use to draw a line after click a button:
Private Sub btndraw_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnlinedraw.Click lxs = txtslinelocationx.Text lxe = txtelinelocationx.Text[code].....
Here is a picture of my program running: How do I stop everything being deleted when things pass it...? how can i add a save feature to this program?
I used the TextBox to display "text instructions" for user but at run time I noticed that the text in TextBox is modifyable. Most of the time the text comes highlighted also. The instructions are a few lines per page so the label is not a good idea.
I was unhappy with the kerning in one of the installed fonts on my system, so I re-defined the kerning in a font editor and installed the revised font (under a new name) on my system. When I use the new font in Microsoft Word or Adobe Photoshop, my new kerning works fine - but when I use Drawstring in a VB program, although the new font is used, the kerning instructions are ignored.Does anyone know if this a feature of the Graphics.Drawstring method, or am I failing to set a switch somewhere? If it's a feature, is there another method which kerns correctly?
I have been a VB6 developer for several years, and switched to .NET couple of years ago.Since then, I switched to WPF, and now, i am attacking Silverlight + PRISM I whould like to know if anyone of you programmers have some GOOD and CLEAR tutorial/instructions on setting up a View-Switching application in VB code please? So the main goal whould be a menuregion (working!).When the user clicks some buttons, i need the MainRegion to refresh its view, depending on the selection ofcourse.I am also looking on information how to keep track of the changes made when trying to switch the view?
My need is to work with what I have (2005 studio), what I know (Visual Basic) but need a primer. I am a visual learner (so I need to see [1] how the form is created, named and set up). From there I need to see [2] how he code works so that I can implement from there.
Makes the following statement about the code below:
**"The computer evaluates the loop condition in the Do...Loop statment to determine whether the loop instructions should be processed. In this case, the inputsales <> String.Empty condition compares the contenst of the input sales variable to the String.Empty value. As you know the String.Empty value represents a zero length, or empty, string if the inputsales variable is empty, the loop condition evaluates to True and the computer process the loop instructions. *If on the other hand the inputsales variable is not empty, the loop condition evaluates to false and the computer skips over the loop instructions.
Based on the code I think it is the opposite: ...that while the inputsales value is not empty it should evaluate to true and process the loop and if it is empty it should evaluate to false and skip the loop?
I made a simple vb program with vb 2011 express. I want with a simple button click to open a prototype Powerpoint presentation and running in background a batch file.So far,so good... I want to do a third step. Into the "test.ppt" i have already made a macro with vba and i want to execute the macro.
I am trying to make a search feature in my program. My program has a .csv file that the program will need to search for a equal value that was entered in thr text box. I am just not to sure how to go about this. Just need some insight on how to grt started. Insight please.
I wrote a UDF to enable users to run Macro`s in excel here is the function below
Private Sub RunExcelMacros(ByVal Path As String, ByVal MacroName As String) Dim oExcel As Excel.Application Dim oBook As Excel.Workbook Dim oBooks As Excel.Workbooks
[code].....
And to use it just call the udf with the 2 parameters like below
Using word 2003, merging to a new document. I want the macros in the template to be in the new document. I'm using the macros to control printer desitination, each template can go to a different printer.
i seem to have a problem with my program, here is my situation:I have a UsageID where it gets generated from a database when the user clicks a button (btnAdd). However the rest of the form has textboxes and comboboxes then finally a calculate button (btnCalculate). I want the user to only be able to click the btnCalculate when their is a UsageID present. Here is the code i have currently in the btnCalculate_Click procedure:
No errors come up it just doesn't seem to work, has anyone got any ideas because i'm stuck. Helpful posts will be rated.
