need a quick reply looking for code that will filter my datagrid with all the results between 2 dates in 2 datatimepickers. My table is not bound to the database. I'm looking for code that will work when the search button is pressed.

The issue is in the last line. ID_Part is an Int64 data type filters(0) is a string so the system returns a "Can't perform 'Like' operation on System.Int64 and System.String" error message.As you can see I tried converting the data type, but that failed since it is encased in String.Format()- it's going to be a string no matter what, I suppose.It's almost 1:00 a.m. so I'm not firing on all cylinders.

I have a search page, which iam using to search the database fields which holds the technical articles. The fields that iam searching are varchar(max).
Everything is fine..., I want to show the results with the first found instance of searched keywords in bold and some 70 to 100 chars before and after.
I have a data bound datagridview on my form. I need the datagridview to sort by oldest date, and then return only the 150 oldest. The goal is to export the 150 rows with the oldest date to a .csv file and then update the date column to the current date for only those 150.

I can get it filter by the column "status" and then sort by "datelastemailed". I can also get it to export only those 150 to the .csv file. My issue is that I need only those 150 to have their date column updated to today's date and then saved to the database. The only way I can see to get that done is to set a max number of rows for my databound datagridview and then loop through each row in the date column. How I can create a filter that limits results?
I'm trying to create a Windows form application which uses a few data grid views to pull data back from a SQL Server database. I've managed to get the data back okay from the tables but what I want to do is filter that data dynamically based on values input by the user from a combo box and a date time picker. Each of the data grids display production data for a machine but the combo box and date time picker will allow the data to be filtered by shift and date respectively - how to I pass the values of these to the SQL query returning the data?

View 4 RepliesI am using Visual Basic 2008, and SQL Server 2005. I have a single-user client-server app (i know that sounds stupid, but its for future expandibility and also the fact that documentation was easier to find for SQL server than Access files).The app is basically a medicals records system.
In one of the tables, called 'visits', it stores the dates on which each patient visits the doctor, among other things like symptoms and diagnosis. Another table stores all the patient names and IDs along with other details, and a relation has been set up between the patient ID in the patients table and the visits table. So i dragged the visits table from within the patients table (to get only the visits for that particular patient), and dragged it onto the form to make a datagridview. However, the datagridview didn't seem to recognise MS SQL server's smalldatetime format, and tried representing it as a picture. When i changed the format of the column to text boxes, it gave me a type mismatch error (Inconvertible type mismatch between SourceColumn 'VisitDate' of DateTime and the DataColumn 'VisitDate' of Byte[].) That means, for some reason, it is trying to convert the smalldatetime data to byte before it shows it, which is leading to the error. How do i fix this?
Also, I remember seeing some option for using completely custom column types in the datagridview, but i cant seem to find it now. The options in 'Edit Columns' are very limited, but i would like to set it to a masked text box, or something with a fixed format. Can someone recommend a good column type for representing dates, and how to make the datagridview show that kinda column?

Kinda new to working with wpf apps (and vb.net). Looking for a way to filter a datagrid using a combobox (to select the field that the user wishes to search) textbox (to input search terms for specific records). The datagrid loads fine as does the combo containing the fields, however my filter simply does not work.

I have a working code that exports the datagrid into XLS. However, the datagrid results does not show on my aspx (html) page. It only shows on the page when I comment out the part that exports it to xls. I am not sure whether it should show by default when exporting.Basically, what I want to have is when I click my export button, it should display the datagrid on the page as well as popup an excel "open, save, cancel" window for the export.
