View 2 RepliesAbout 3 years ago i came across a vb project for a photo album, it was on online tutorial and I followed it and after some custom tweaking I found it was quite usefull. Unfortuatly the original sourcecode has long since vanished. The project was fairly easy to follow and I remember the author had a photo image of his sailing boat and a yellow labrador (just trying to jog some memories here) :).
Anyway; I have searched high and low for it but can not find it. I'm pretty sure it was on a msdn or some other microsoft forum and was to do with VB 2005 or VB 2008 edition of Visual studio.
storing values into a database from a ComboBox?
ComboBox 1
=========
Contains Pre-Determined List of Leagues
[code]....
Is propogated with the contents from the database depending on what was chosen in ComboBox 1 and 2.For Example:If a person picked the "Premier League" and "Manchester United", ComboBox 3 would display the members of the Manchester United team. The user could then select a single member of that team and save him as their choice.

"The data provider required to connect to the local data file could not be found. The file will be added to the project but the typed DataSet associated with the file will not be generated".

I have developed a VB.NET program using a strongly typed dataset. This dataset has its connection to a SQL Server 2008 R2. The software should now be additionally used offline. The database should be exported to a *.sdf database. If no connection to the SQL server is produced, the software have to try to connect to the *.sdf database.I would like to achieve:
1. Export the data in the SQL Server 2008 R2 database to a local *.sdf file.
2. This *.sdf file has to work as an alternate connection string in the strongly typed dataset.

I'm need of some way of finding the UNC Path of a share via a script or command line or even a custom created program. I'm trying to automate deletion of users and the setup is a bit complicated.
Home folders are set up like this:
We create a folder on a Disk on a fileserver. When this folder is created, a share is automatically created on a lower levelThen the DFS Links are set up towards the newly created share.
Now, when deleting a user, I could just delete the DFS Folder, meaning that the target folder is the one being deleted. But since it's a share, that cannot happen.
I'm trying to port an ASP.NET 4.0 data-driven app to a VB Express 2010 Windows Forms desktop app. The ASP.NET 4.0 app uses a SQL Server 2008 Express database and works fine. I can change/add/delete data in the db with the web app, and I can use SQL Server Management Studio to modify the database, but when I try to establish a connection to the same database with the "Add new connection" wizard in VB Express 2010, it tells me that it cannot find the SQL Server Data Provider .The SQL Server provider MUST be installed because otherwise the web app wouldn't work, right ?

View 2 RepliesI have two databases, one on my local work computer and other on a server. Both have been created with Microsoft SQL Server 2008. I can access both of them with connection strings that contains names of the servers and some other information. However the names contain only the ip-number of the server. And I need the full name of the server and the instance created, separated with "" character. I can see them in my SQL management studio but I need to get them from VB-code.I created SqlConnection-class but it finds only the ip-addressed name. SqlSourceDataEnumerator won't do good because it finds all unnecessary server names that I don't need. How can I find the real name of the server that is specified in the connection string?

Can upload files up to 10GB
Uses passive mode
Provides feedback during upload, to make sure it's going OK
Can cancel and resume
Up to two concurrent connections
I read about WebClient + NetworkCredential, but it doesn't seem to provide progress infos. There are also the FTPWebRequest/FTPWebResponse classes from WebRequest/WebResponse, as well as WebClient.UploadFileAsync.
What I to do is be able to find out if a text file or any file exists on a server such ass we all know that exists but how can I get VB to produce a message box telling me whether this file exists let alone get VB to search for the file, I've search the site and the MSDN but I cant figure out what code i need to do its been bugging me for weeks
