VS 2005 Adding A Physics Engine To Game ?
Mar 29, 2009I am creating a game for my 2nd year of uni. I have no idea why my lecturer wants me to create a game in VB.net using Direct X and not C# XNA but he does, so i have to abide by his rules.I am in no way mathematically advanced enough to create my own newtons physics so i wanted to get an engine to go into my VB.net code.Is this even possible?, im totally new to all of this physics stuff.does anyone know of any VB.net engines out there? and how do i link this engine into my code?
My game is
A 2D blob of water has to navigate itself up and down a set of obstacles, if it falls from a specific hight then it will explode and loose a life. It needs to be able to jump a determined hight also.

Nov 29, 2010I have created a vb .net application, that has different functions. One of them is getting the MAC address of the local area connection. In this app i have also a web browser, that i use to call a website containing a form that writes data via PHP to a MySQL database.Now i would like to pass this MAC address stored in a variable of my vb .net application to the website, in order to save even this data to my DB. (This is just to prevent the creation of infinite accounts! no other purposes with theese information.)

Port WinForms To Silverlight 2 Or Silverlight 3
Mar 19, 2009I have a LOB app written in VB.NET with a WinForms front-end and SQL back-end. After many months weighing up how to get onto the Web, I decided last month to use Silverlight 2. Now, Silverlight 3 Beta is out, but there is no end-user runtime.
Does anyone know when the runtime will be available for deployment of SL 3 apps onto client sites?
My dev timeline is about 3 months: should I persist with SL 2 and then u/g to SL3, or jump straight in to SL3?

Specifically, I need to determine the vectors of the pursuing object when given the vectors of the object he is trying to pursue.This is classic video game programming and in my instance it's supposed to be a football player running with the ball being chased by a tackler.The code I have now determines where the tackler should go at one particular instant, but does not project where he should be in order to lead the target.What happens is the tackler runs behind the ball carrier - he doesn't cut him off.It's like if a QB throws the ball to where his receiver is instead of in front of him; when the ball arrives the receiver is long gone.

Apr 13, 2010I need some help calculating physics after a collision, sort of like rigid body physics but just for rectangles, I don't need them to rotate but only to know the x and y speed they leave each other and the angular velocity etc. the collision with the walls work fine since all I'm doing is reversing the speeds of the rectangles (which is probably the wrong way of doing it) but unfortunately this does not not work for the two rectangles colliding with each other, so can some1 lead me in the right direction as to how I can go about calculating this.

However, I've been told that VB.NET might not be the best choice for "working too much with graphics". I'd like to know if that's true. DB/Reporting :: DB Engine To Choose?
Apr 13, 2011I need to choose a database engine for a project, and have run into some issues. What I want is an SQL engine that works in a server/client environment, where i also can backup the database files from disk. If I am not mistaken, i have to detach an MSSQL database to be able to copy it in the file system. And SQLite is no good for the server/client environment. Will MySQL accomplish this? I think PostGreSQL has the same issue as MSSQL, but I don't know about MySQL.Oh, and it needs to be free to publish with my application.

It works on my computer but it will have to be used by many computers maybe even world wide (who will access the same database) so I have no idea what kind of systems people will have. I still don't know how to ensure that they will be able to connect to the database for I have already had problems in Windows 7 computers which don't have jet oledb.4.0
I am a bit lost here because I don't know if I should first try to do a connect, or if I should first look for a jet oledb engine on the computer where the software is installed. And in case they don't have it installed should I prompt them to install it before running the program further? Or should I pack the engine along with my program? What is the line of thought here to make the program run on (almost) any machine?

Asp.net Mvc - Razor View Engine Quirks ?
Nov 12, 2010I just downloaded the MVC 3.0 RC and I'm excited to start using it, especially the Razor view engine. However, due to a few stick in the mud type people here, we are stuck using VB.NET instead of C#.When I started trying it out, I noticed some quirks. If you are creating a Razor view using CSHTML, you can write code like this:
@foreach(string genreName in Model.Genres)

<li>@genreName</li>
}
Razor will automatically detect that the <li> text is an HTML tag and will switch out of "code mode". With a VB.NET VBHTML file, this doesn't seem to be working. It's making me put the @: keyword in front of each line like this:
@For Each genreName As String In Model.Genres
@:<li>@genreName</li>
Next
If I don't have it there, I get a runtime error. Also, the <text></text> tags don't seem to work.

Jun 16, 2009i'm working on a application whereby there is a keyboard which is create on FLASH. So i implement it into vb.net. So everytime i click on 'A', it will go into the database and search for all the stuff that contain 'A' and display on the flash textbox. If i type 'An', i will appear all the stuff in a Flash textbox. Just like yahoo, when you type 'An' there will have a downdrop appearing all the words that starts, end or inbetween have 'An'.
