This is not a programming question but a physics one.I was wondering if anyone has a link that good give me the math for two objects: one moving and the other intercepting. Specifically, I need to determine the vectors of the pursuing object when given the vectors of the object he is trying to pursue.This is classic video game programming and in my instance it's supposed to be a football player running with the ball being chased by a tackler.The code I have now determines where the tackler should go at one particular instant, but does not project where he should be in order to lead the target.What happens is the tackler runs behind the ball carrier - he doesn't cut him off.It's like if a QB throws the ball to where his receiver is instead of in front of him; when the ball arrives the receiver is long gone.
I am creating a game for my 2nd year of uni. I have no idea why my lecturer wants me to create a game in VB.net using Direct X and not C# XNA but he does, so i have to abide by his rules.I am in no way mathematically advanced enough to create my own newtons physics so i wanted to get an engine to go into my VB.net code.Is this even possible?, im totally new to all of this physics stuff.does anyone know of any VB.net engines out there? and how do i link this engine into my code?

A 2D blob of water has to navigate itself up and down a set of obstacles, if it falls from a specific hight then it will explode and loose a life. It needs to be able to jump a determined hight also.

I need some help calculating physics after a collision, sort of like rigid body physics but just for rectangles, I don't need them to rotate but only to know the x and y speed they leave each other and the angular velocity etc. the collision with the walls work fine since all I'm doing is reversing the speeds of the rectangles (which is probably the wrong way of doing it) but unfortunately this does not not work for the two rectangles colliding with each other, so can some1 lead me in the right direction as to how I can go about calculating this.
I'm making a game where the main character is a white blood cell. Right now I have a circle. 360 points. I want my character to squish against walls, jiggle while moving, etc... but I'm just at a loss as to how to even start doing this. What's the best way to implement that kind of 2-d physics?
I have a situation where I am handling both single & double mouse click events on a form. In both cases something has to be loaded, however when a double click occurs, I do not wish to execute the code attached to the single click event.Is there a way to intercept the mouse click's and check if double or single and then execute the right event appropriately?

I want to be able to intercept a print request and then check whether the current user of the computer has enough credit to print. I know FormClosing() is called, but I cannot really stop the form from closing after my code is run. I want to be able to show a messagebox that asks if the user wants to exit the form or not. Obviously if they click no, I want the form to stay open, how would I do this?
This may seem complicated but it's a somewhat basic concept, just probably a complicated execution, I am trying to create a program that will allow you to basically "IM" between computers on a LAN network. That's the concept, I plan on doing this by generating .bat files, executing them and printing the last few messages sent in a label, the big problem I have is receiving messages, I have no idea whatsoever how to even go about finding out how to take the messages received from the messenger service and print them into the label, any ideas?EDIT: This is in VB.Net 2008
For my webbrowser application I would like to have a separate form to display online pdf files.Does anyone know how I would check to see if a clicked page link points to a pdf file and if so open form3 and load the file into the pdf reader component (pdfread) without causing the webbrowser to navigate to the link, this always seems to open the pdf file in a new instance of internet explorer.
I realise that to load the file into the pdf reader the code would be

I've adapted the code from this link to use the WinXP on-screen keyboard (osk) for a touch-screen application written in VB.NET v3.5. The osk fills the bottom half of screen etc. and behaves fine except for one little quirk. If the user clicks or taps anywhere on the 'background' area behind/between the virtual keys (within the main osk window), the color of the area changes to that of the keys when any further key subsequently gets focus. The outline of all keys is then lost because they are visually merged into the osk window background. The osk must then be terminated and re-launched to remove the confusing appearance.
This behaviour only occurs when the osk window is set to the child style (i.e. when the menu is hidden), using the SetWindowLong P/Invoke function - e.g.
It's as if the entire area behind the keys is being treated as another key when tapped/clicked, whereupon its color is 'restored' after losing focus.Is there any way to intercept and somehow override the focus event of this osk background area?

I have this string just down loaded of a Unix server. I would like to remove the box (0x0A) Unix end line code; then replace it with CR+LF normal ASCII code. Also, I would like to do the replace before I save the data, while it in memory.
I'm wondering if it's possible to create a listener type application that would monitor webaddresses that the user attempts to go to. And can then either block or redirect the browser to another website. Purpose: I know this seems to sound a little weird but what I'm attempting to do is a NetNanny type application that can run on the user's PC and the allow, prevent, rewrite (would look for particular keywords and rewrite them "words I wouldn't want my 7yr old seeing or reading), or redirect to other webpages. I would also like to be able to handle both IE and Firefox browser with this one application.
