I need to draw visuals in my program where a block of mass moves from position A to position B down a varying incline. The incline variable is set by the program. I know how to draw the block But do not know how to vary the slope and make block travel parallel to it. program to use for inspiration

Specifically, I need to determine the vectors of the pursuing object when given the vectors of the object he is trying to pursue.This is classic video game programming and in my instance it's supposed to be a football player running with the ball being chased by a tackler.The code I have now determines where the tackler should go at one particular instant, but does not project where he should be in order to lead the target.What happens is the tackler runs behind the ball carrier - he doesn't cut him off.It's like if a QB throws the ball to where his receiver is instead of in front of him; when the ball arrives the receiver is long gone.

View 2 RepliesI need some help calculating physics after a collision, sort of like rigid body physics but just for rectangles, I don't need them to rotate but only to know the x and y speed they leave each other and the angular velocity etc. the collision with the walls work fine since all I'm doing is reversing the speeds of the rectangles (which is probably the wrong way of doing it) but unfortunately this does not not work for the two rectangles colliding with each other, so can some1 lead me in the right direction as to how I can go about calculating this.

I have no idea why my lecturer wants me to create a game in VB.net using Direct X and not C# XNA but he does, so i have to abide by his rules.I am in no way mathematically advanced enough to create my own newtons physics so i wanted to get an engine to go into my VB.net code.Is this even possible?, im totally new to all of this physics stuff.does anyone know of any VB.net engines out there? and how do i link this engine into my code?
My game is
A 2D blob of water has to navigate itself up and down a set of obstacles, if it falls from a specific hight then it will explode and loose a life. It needs to be able to jump a determined hight also.
For reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.
View 2 RepliesIm in a win.form app. in .Net 2008 I have a lot of Icons that I want to display on a (TouchScreen enviroment) button The icons are in 8,16; 32 bit in the sizes 16X16 ; 32X32 ; 48X48 The buttons are large enough, they have a dimension of 252X132. The images are loaded via the Button propertie : Image. This has allso a size propertie, but is disabled. And I can see its loading the 32X32 32bpp format But I want the 48X48 size on there. Does some 1 knows how to get those sizes op the button.

View 5 RepliesWe have a GIS application that has some performance issues. It creates and sends an image to a web browser. We start with a Bing Maps imager, add complex polygons (complete with transparent fill), save the finished image as a PNG, and send it to the browser.
The idea has come up that we could possibly install a graphics card and use DirectX or OpenGL to improve performance. I believe this would be the case even though we ultimately generate an image instead of sending the data the the screen. I believe our processes could still make use of the API and the hardware acceleration it provides. Our process is not unlike what CGI film makers do to render individuals frames of a film, though we simply render a single image and send it, as opposed to the hundreds of thousands of images needed for a single CGI film.
So my question is: would a powerful graphics card and use of DirectDraw or OpenGL provide us a worthwhile performance boost? It can take us 20-30 seconds to render a more complex map. Which is a long time to wait on a web page...
Im working on a project that needs to print a report of one client.Everything went smooth untill i came across my multiline input text data.When i display it in the PrintPagePreview the text go's outside my page. Even when im printing it only the halve of my text is displayed. I googled and looked everywhere but i can't get a clear fix for it.

I'm writing a program that replaces the old "BitBlit" function which is no longer supported by Visual Basic 2008. ok, i know the code is a little rough, but it should be good to give you an idea of what im trying to do, if not i will still explain.simply draw 2 lines one from left to right, another from top to bottom, intersecting through the tip of the mouse.ok, theres no problem there the lines draw perfectally the way i want them.... BUT! now heres the issue im having.i cant get rid the previous lines.i did a bit of good old "Google'ing" and ran across a few links that all pointed me to the ReDrawWindow API, so i tried (as you can see in the above code) but i just cant seem to get it worked out.
So I decided to make my famous tile selector project, but instead of drawing in a form's graphics, do it inside a tabpage.Well, I managed to get it working, but it seems to... flicker.Normally, setting the form's DoubleBuffered property to True would help a lot there, but apparently, the tabpage has no such property.
When I invalidate the tabpage, I draw two images and fill one rectangle.Following past advice, those two images were created before, just once, and are stored in a variable so I don't create them every time I invalidate the tabpage.
