Functions To Draw Line Or Move To Points

Jul 19, 2009

Currently there are functions to draw line or move to points, commonly known as LineTo(x,y) of MoveTo(x,y). I am wondering if there is also a LineTO or MoveTo function(s) for 3D, i.e. LineTo(x,y,z) or MoveTo(x,y,z).

VS 2008 Using ZedGraph To Draw Functions?

Mar 10, 2010

I'm using ZedGraph to draw functions.I want it so, that the user can input a function.Eg:

txtFunction.text = x ^ 2 - 3

Graphs are drawn with this code

For x = 0 To 100
y = x ^ 2 - 3
list.Add(x, y)
Next x

This doesn't work

For x = 0 To 100
y = txtFunction.text
list.Add(x, y)
Next x

as the x can't be replaced.Is there an other way to draw graphs, by reading the function from a textbox?

GDI: Make Drawn Object Move And Follow Path/Points At Constant Speed?

Nov 13, 2011

I've come across a very basic problem which I'm sure has a basic answer.Forgive me but I haven't programmed in years and this just a hobby of mine..My problem is that I need a drawn object (say an ellipse) to move to the cursors location when I click. Imagine an adventure quest style game where you view your character in birds eye view, and it moves according to where you click on the map.I can draw the image fine, and move the image around fine - it's more so the formula I'm using which I'm a little stumped on.I have certain requirements though.

1. I need a timer that constantly updates the drawn object's (lets say character from now on) location. Each tick will essentially be the character taking 1 step towards the cursor's location.2. At the end of each tick of the timer, it'll will invalidate the form/control to invoke the paint event, and of course, the objects location will be be updated.It sounded simple enough to create a linear equation based on the objects original location and the location of the cursor when I click.However, that will not give it a fixed speed.If say for example, the gradient (rise/run) between the cursor location and objects location is very steep, the object's y-velocity will be greater than that of the x-velocity

Drawing A Line With Points?

May 13, 2009

I have a question about drawing lines. Most of the code snippets I've seen approach drawing a line with the mouse down as the startpoint and the mouse up as the endpoint. But I am trying to draw a line by startpoint as
a mouse click and then an endpoint as a mouse click just as you do on a typical cad program.

VS 2008 Calculate Points On Line?

Feb 23, 2012

Using the attached code, the goal is to draw a series of 1x1 rectangles to produce an image of a line. The image begins okay at point (0,0) but ends up after 5600 passes through the loop at (1884,5273) instead of at (1965, 5244). To prove the scale factor accurate I also use Drawline to draw the entire line with the same scale factor. Drawline ends up at the correct location (1965,5244).

I've manually checked the calculations with the results as noted. I'm at a total loss to understand what's going on.

' Xc = 1965
' Xp = 0
' Yc = 5244

Move Different Functions Into Other Classes To Organise It A Bit?

Jun 22, 2010

The way my code is now its all basically in one class and I want to move different functions into other classes to organise it a bit.What is the best way to do this as I have been having problems I was just bringing in a new Main class when I needed to call the functions in my main class but this would give errors when I run the program and not let me run it?

Private mc as new Main()mc.functionNeeded But the error when I try to run"Stack over flow exception"

An unhandled exception of type 'System.StackOverflowException' occurred in System.Windows.Forms.dll

Any tips on how this is done. I couldnt find any info on it (probably because its so basic)

VS 2008 : Microsecond Timer To Plot Points On Line?

Feb 27, 2012

A couple of options seem to be available to achieve better accuracy and shorter periods than the Timer control in VB allows, however they too seem to have their own unique drawbacks. I am trying to plot (draw) points that are calculated in my VB application and then represent them in real time with an accuracy of a couple percent. If VB can calculate the points in the microsecond time range, would it be reasonable to hang an external pulse source on a usb port and use the "Datachanged" event to count the pulses that will be summed and used to plot the points?Ultimately, this is a machine control application that requires "reasonably precise" timing - ie. CNC type control. The points are scaled and drawn and then step and direction signals are sent out through another USB port.

Draw A Line On A Picture?

Jun 29, 2009

I need to draw a line on a series of pictures: I have decompiled a movie file to 1200 pictures. I also have 1200 samples of vector data (coordinates of the line: beginning point, ending point , size of vector (length) and direction (angle)... anything). With these data I want for each corresponding picture to draw a line corresponding to this vector data for instance: picture 550 needs to get a line drawn from point (5,95) ... these are (x,y) coordinates. in direction of 5 degrees from a vertical line and length 55. Visual Basic do that? I understand there will be some work in locating the origin of the x,y coordinate system and telling the program what 'size 1' means...
