I am trying to grab what appears to be text of a label from a different process so I can show what it says in my own program using pre-recorded audio files, basically trying to read the programs text to the user, one of the things im missing is reading a label, it appears to be easy to read the Edit control/textbox you can type into & other things but I cant seem to find out reading this label.

I would like to display text like my company name on the window media player. I use DrawString function on Form onPaint event but it is covered by the window media player. I also use Label control but it display square block on the player control even i set the back color to transparent. I develop KTV system it has two monitor one has form controls and another has player.

View 7 RepliesI'm trying to create a small program, which I think will be helpful to others(in here). My aim is to convert the English text shown in screen to Malayalam. English-to-Malayalam conversion is not a problem. But the problem is, how to extract the text from the screen. In most of the converter/translator, the text needs to be copied or written down in the translator tool. But my program will cut off that part. That is, simply move the program window (having a rectangle hollow portion) to the English word that needs to be converted. And upon pressing a button (or autodetect), the English word is converted to Malayalam.
So, my question is how to extract the English text(or words) from the screen (which is seen through the hollow portion of the window.

I have a User Control that is a ProgressBar with Dock set to Fill. The code is as below. Unfortunately it simply doesn't show the text in the progress bar and why is beyond me skill.

The If Not... conditional code in the set method is there to prevent the SetProgressText procedure running every time the property is set. The Value property of a ProgresBar is an Integer and if the code that is setting it runs through thousands of loops (>600,000 in my case) then there's no point updating the text every time since it can only actually change 100 times for a 0-100 ProgressBar. The 600k looping takes about 2 seconds usually, without that conditional code it takes at least 2 minutes!

I have a list view populated by a database. The columns for each record are First, Last and EMPID. When I look at the list view on the form at runtime, I can see some/all of the First name and then below that may be part of the Last and some ... periods and no EMPID. When I hover over the record, I can see the EMPID. Is there a way to have all of the information in the record visible in the list view?

View 3 RepliesI can not use Inheritance Picker Dialog windows. Choosing Project in menu bar and then Add New Item, there is Templates frame only and Inherited Form is missing. Categories frame, which should be located on the left side, is missing as well. So i could not choose Windows Forms from Categories Frame on the left and Inherited Form from Templates on the right. Is it possible that Express Edition does not support Inheritance?

I problem is when the message window is thrown it is displayed just behind the splashscreen and user is not able to see the message and unable to understand whats happening while the SplashScreen is displayed as it is till he clicks ok on the message box.

View 2 RepliesI have this Quiz software that lets you create online multiple choice quizzes which are great for studying (I am in grad school and I'm trying to use everything I can to learn). So the Quiz software is great but it only lets you input questions by hand, one by one. I took a look at the .xml file that the quiz program spits out and came up with the idea to try and make a converter so that I can import many questions at once. I was hoping to try and solve this limitation by doing the following:
Take a .doc that say a tutor gives us with a bunch of practice questions, and then take that into Crimson Editor, and then format it so the question is on line 1, the multiple choice answers are on lines 3,4,5, and 6, (for the next question, the question would be on line 11, and the answers on lines 13, 14, 15, and 16, and so on) and then take that saved .txt file into my program, hit the generate button, and it will spit out the .xml file, and then import that into the quiz software to generate the online quiz.

I figured out how to open a text file by watching simple youtube tutorials, but I don't know how to have it generate the stuff and have it show up in the bottom text box. I know how to do the coding to convert the txt to proper xml code but I don't know how to be able to save the contents of the bottom text window to an xml file.
I have created a simple app to display a digital clock, it can create child windows (dialog boxes) to do various chores, one of those chores involves a lengthy background task, so I create it in a modeless manner, so it doesn't block the main program. It all works well... kind of took me awhile to figure it all out, but there is one little cosmetic issue.

I am using Vb.NET to build a windows application. In menu-strips by default the submenus will appear on clicking on the menu items. I am willing to display the submenu items by hovering the cursor on menu items. What is the procedure to do that?
View 1 RepliesI've created a form with several controls to specify the inputs to my program. They include TextBox, OpenFileDialog, Button and even a user control for numeric input. When the user clicks the 'GO' button, the program begins it work. Opening several files and processing a bunch of numerical data. This could take many minutes/hours with large datasets.
What I've been trying to do is have another window/form open up and send status information to it for the user to view. The info to be displayed is varied and constantly updated as the program crunches the numbers. Many many programs do just this type of activity.
I attempted to create a second form with a huge TextBox thinking I'd just write stuff to it. I called the .show method within the .click of the 'GO' button and of course the form is displayed but control of the program's execution doesn't return until the form is closed. How to I maintain execution and have a second window/form to display status?
I do also want to know how can I Display Text on Pole Display. I write the code with VB.net 2008. Sample Code that I write is:

I have a label that is supposed to display a word for 5 seconds and then move down the list in a text file and display the next word.I'm oddly able to make it work in random mode, but not going down the list in order.. random would be ok if used words didn't come up again.

The aim of the application is to change sln. files from VS2005/2008 versions into VS2010.I am using a Form with 2 text boxes and 2 buttons. When I click the 1st button it reveals the sln file in the text box. Then i have a 'convert' button that I want to use to 'convert' the file that appears in the first text box. I have come quite far with the source code but am just a bit puzzled as to how i can retrieve the VS2005 sln files and to get the 'convert' button to display the text in the 2nd text box.[code]
