Getting Excel 2010 To Close. Stays Running In The Task Manger?
Jan 13, 2012
I cannot get Excel 2010 to close by using VB on my Windows XP computer at work. I have what I thought would be able to close it, but it doesn't. I do not get any errors, it its just that after multiple times of the code running, I have multiple instances of EXCEL.EXE running in the task manager, which causes problems. I am going to post the code below:
Option Strict Off
Imports Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel
Public Class CompareDataExcel\
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
how can i close a hid form without make "end process " in the task manger.how to save a textbox.text inside text file if the form closed be "end process " in the task manger?
i got vb.net application when i debug in task menager the EXCEL.EXE is closing correctly after all operations. When i scheduled it the excel.exe is running. What can be a reason of that?Sample of code :
Imports Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel Module Main Public objApp = New Excel.Application
In the code below, I open excel file, when I try to enter some values into excel cells, and close it afterwards. For some reasons excel process is still active in task manager. I am releasing objects, quiting application like for other excel files in my program, but in this specific example can't do this. The code below is written in Visual Studio 2010, windows 7.
Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop Public Class Form1 Public MainPath As String = System.IO.Directory.GetCurrentDirectory() Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click [Code] .....
At my school people use the keyboard shortcut (CTRL+Shift+ESC) to open Task Manager. We are not allowed to use it so we get a message box saying that we do not have permission to do that. People hold down the buttons, so that a long line of hundreds of popups open. What code do i need to close all of the popups when a button is pressed?
I have developed a VB.Net code for retrieving data from excel file .I load this data in one form and update it back in excel after making necessary modifications in data. This complete flow works fine but most of the times I have observed that even if I close the form; the already loaded excel process does not get closed properly. I tried all possible ways to close it but could not be able to resolve the issue.
Find below code which I am using for connecting to excel and let me know if any other approach I may need to follow to resolve this issue. Note: I do not want to kill the excel process as it will kill other instances of the excel
I have developed a application on vb.net platform. After installing, whenever I run the application and close it, it stays in the memory and pops up again after approx 5 mins.
I need to access the current instance of MS Excel. To do that, I wrote the following code:
Imports Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel Imports System.Diagnostics Private _ExcelApp As Excel.Application
[Code].....
The code runs nice, but it has a problem: After the user close the Excel application (click button X - note: no other instance of Excel exists), if you open the Windows's task manager, its possible to see the process Excel.exe.
If I open and close the Excel application, there is no process Excel.exe, but if I run my code with the Excel application openned, after the user close the Excel application, the process Excel.exe isn't finished.
I tried to build my project but it failed and said the exe was already in use by another process. So I looked in the Task Manager and saw several instances of this exe and several instances of another exe that I wrote. Why wouldn't the processes be stopped after I close the programs I wrote. Is there something I can do so that the processes end after I close the program?
Im having a wee problem with my NotifyIcon, when i close my program my NotifyIcon still stays in the system tray unless i hover over it , anyone know how to close it completly when my program is closed
I am developing a solution in .Net utilising the VMWare Web Service API to create new isolated virtualised development environments. The front end will be web based. Requestors input details for the specific environment which will be persisted to SQL. So I need to write an engine of some sort to pull the data from SQL and work on the long running task of creating resource pools, switch port groups and cloning existing VM templates etc. As work progresses, events will be raised to write logs and update info back to SQL. This allows requestors to pull data back into a webpage to see how it's progressing or if it's completed.
The thing I am struggling with is how to engineer the engine which will exec the long running task of creating the environment. I cannot write a windows service (which I would like) as we work in a very secure environment and it's not possible (group policy etc). I could write a web service to execute the tasks, extending the httpRuntime executionTimeout to allow the task to complete. But I'm keen to hear what you guys think may be a better solution to use (based on .Net 3.5). The solution needs to be service oriented as we may be using it on other projects within our org. What about WWF, WCF? I have not used any of the newer technologies available since .Net 2.0 as we've only just been approved to move up from .Net 2.0.
I'm using a BackgroundWorker to perform some analysis on a separate thread. The BackgroundWorker is called when a user clicks a CheckBox.
I need to provide for the user clicking the CheckBox, starting the BackgroundWorker task, and then changing their mind and clicking the CheckBox again.I simply want to cancel the currently running task and set the analysis off again. Currently I have the following method:
Public Sub UpdateParkStatusAsync() Try 'Debug output. Console.WriteLine("UC_Map_ViewModel.UpdateParkStatus called.")
I am currently attempting to support a ClickOnce application that i did not write. This application is running from a scheduled task. The scheduled task points to a .application file. This had been running happily untill today when it stopped. The only thing that has changed is that the application has been executed manually by a developer by double clicking on the .application file. Since then each time the scheduled task is scheduled to run the application doesn't appear to execute. The task reports no error and the error code (0x0) given indicates it ran and completed ok.
I am not familiar with ClickOnce and am not sure when implication clicking the .application file would have had or why it has stopped running as a scheduled task. It appears to me that everything else has remained the same (i have checked it is running under the correct account etc).
How would I Make a program that would detect running process in the taskmanger: Info on my program +Like I want it to load the process name's in a Rich textbox or label or textbox (if that's possible XD). + And I will Have a Button that once I see all the process and then the button1 will kill the processes I Pick.
How would i know when a thread is completed running it's task? I mean in background worker it has a completed event, but can i make something similar to that?
I am using Parallel.ForEach to do some time consuming operation. Coming to the question ,
For example,
I am enumerating a collection called 'TestCollection' which has 3 items.
Parallel.ForEach(TestCollection, po, AddressOf DoSomeThing) So 3 tasks will be running in paralell at a time Now I want to add another 2 items to TestCollection, while the task is running.
How to enque the additional 2 items to the 'TestCollection' so that additional two tasks will also run in paralell. Finally 5 tasks should run in paralell without stopping the running task. If a post answers your question,
I need to have a windows service that capable of monitoring constantly whether my application is running or not. If not, the windows service will RUN it for me.
Need help removing a copy of my program shown on the Task Manager after I close.
I must kill a conflicting program that cannot share the COM port and then reinstate when myprogram ends. To reinstate I use: System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(conflictingPath & conflictingProgram)
In the last line of my Form1.Closed I try to end all with:System.Windows.Forms.Application.Exit()
Not working - each time I run this program it does kill the conflicting program, can do its dialing function and upon closing reinstates the conflicting program. But each time another copy shows under Task Manager.
I'am trying to write a program in order to obtain a screen picture for a post review of the running window that should be periodically executed with the tasks manager.
I would like to be able to close a running program (service) from another program.I know I can use...
Process.Start("C:XxxYyyProg.exe") to start program: - Prog.exe Located at: - C:XxxYyy.
But is there any way to also stop (close) Prog.exe from within another program ? The same one that started it for example...PS I should mention that in this case, Prog.exe is a third party program which I can't alter. It does have an Exit option from a right click.
So I wrote a VB.net project in Visual studio.I have a scheduled task that is set to run the program every morning at 10AM. If I use windows explorer and double click the application, it runs fine.If I open task scheduler, open the task properties, and browse to the application, then choose run, the program fails, due to Runtime exceptions.I know I have the path entered correctly, since I can debug the instance when it crashes from the task scheduler. VS2010 pulls up my source code. The exception is System.IO.FileNotFoundException, remember, it works fine when I double click the app. If attach a debugger to the process after it is executed from the task scheduler, I can then restart the debugger, and Voila!, The application runs fine.
Even though I issue the commands, the EXCEL.exe still appear in the TASK MANAGER -> PROCESS after the Excel application is quit, closed and terminated.
I obtained an excellent script that opens a sequence of applications after timed delays (see below). I would like to adapt the script to CLOSE an application that has been opened, but can't figure out how to do that. Any tips? (For the sake of argument,
