Handling Trackbar Painting - Draw The Control Normal Without A Background?

I'm looking to draw a trackbar normal, only with a transparent background. I have created a new class that supports transparent backgrounds set to true. Without using userpaint, the trackbar does nothing or takes the color of it's parent. When using userpaint I have to draw the control on mine own. Not quite sure where to start first though...
I've read about drawing a line (not so hard), drawing a floating object (to act as marker), and handling events on when the floating object moves left/right... Drawing 3 separate objects inside an inherited trackbar control seems like a clunky way of calling methods that should exist somewhere? Is there an easier way to draw the control normal without a background? If not, some in starting to implement all 3 new objects working together would be good (I could draw them separately but that's about it).

I'm back, and now with a great problem...I need to put a TrackBar in my application, in a Panel with an ImageBackGround... but the TrackBar doesn't work with Transparent Background...Now I want to build my own TrackBar Control, but support the Transparent Background...I read in some page that I need to use CustomDraw... to customize te aparience of my TrackBar... but I can't undertand how..

I have started to work some more on my 'shape editor'. If you're not familiar with it,ust imagine the Visual Studio form designer: a 'canvas' (the form) with a bunch of 'shapes' (the controls) that can be selected, moved, resized, etc. I have just finished implementing snapping between shapes and the canvas boundaries. But now I am having some slight issues with painting the snap lines.Just FYI: this is what I mean by snap lines:The blue lines that indicate that the 'buttons' are snapped to each other, and a purple line indicating that button1 is snapped to the boundary.
My shape editor is based loosely on jmcilhinney's 'manipulating GDI+ drawings' codebank entry, and a central idea in that post is to only draw what is necessary. In other words, when I move a shape I could re-draw the entire canvas, but it is much faster and smoother to only re-draw the old and the new location of the shape. Since nothing else has changed, I don't need to draw the rest. So, I simply invalidate the old bounds and the new bounds, and even with a lot of shapes all moving simultaneously it still feels very smooth.

I have created a custom ToolStripProgressBar. It is basically a class inherited from ToolStripStatusLabel, and i paint the 'progress' bar myself (just a simple rectangle). I have tried creating a custom ToolStripProgressBar using different methods including inheriting from both ProgressBar, ToolStripProgressBar and ToolStripControlHost. I always ran into difficulties doing in this way. Inheriting from ToolStripStatusLabel works well, but with one issue...
In order to have the progress bar update in the statusbar, i have to call StatusStrip.Refresh. Trouble is, adds a huge overhead to the drawing of the progress bar graphics. Simply calling the invalidate method of my ToolStripStatusLabel does not seem to render anything to the screen. how to have my graphics draw without calling the refresh method?

Well im just upgrading from VB6 and i was able to paint images to the background of a form. The same method does not seem to work in VB 2008. Is there a way i can draw/paint images to the background of my form?

This is the Trackbar in MS Office Picture Manager, I can't make a transparent-background-trackbar like it, when I tried to make the background transparent, it say that "this control doesn't support transparent color", the trackbar also always behind the toolstrip (I chose "Bring to front" from context menu).

i would like to have a trackbar on my form that will correspond to the HUE of the color of the backgruond, given a range of 1 to 360, and another trackbar that will correspond to saturation of the color of the backgruond, within a range of 1 to 50.

Drawing on top of a RichTextBox control has always been a pain due to the Paint event, and related OnPaint() method being suppressed. Here is a bit of code that gets around this issue.The following derived RichTextBox will use a seperate NativeWindow control to hook into the message stream of the RichTextBox, listen for the WM_PAINT message, and then raise the Paint event on the RichTextBox for you.In this way, it is possible to use the Paint event handler of the RichTextBox control to paint on top of the control after it has performed its default rendering of the text.The following code is an initial implementation but appears to be pretty solid so far. I have inherited the standard panel control to create a panel having custom border color. The problem is, while the panel is on a form and any other form is moved across it, it paints hapazard lines of the same color as the panel custom border color, all throughout background of the panel. I tried to Refresh or Invalidate the panel in its paint event but of no avail. The same is happening while designing in the design editor too. See attached image. Why is this happening and how to get rid of it? My code follows:

know the millisecond interval, used by the framework trackbar, between calling the ValueChanged event when moving the grip with a mouse?I've implemented my own trackbar and I'd like the behaviour to be consistent with what the user expects.I've had a look in reflector but it's one of those controls where most of the implementation is not viewable.
ETA: Actually, thinking about it, it's not as simple as that. For small changes, the TrackBar is raising the event for every change. However, if you make a large fast change with the grip, it will not raise the event for every step. Just wondering exactly how the framework does this?

I'm trying to make a drawing application I'm currently using the forms background to draw on but when i draw something in the background and then resize it ,the contents in it get erased.Does anyone know a way to make it so the contents dont get erased when i resize it.

create a form with a TrackBar control so that when you Scroll the TrackBar it generates a frequency based on the value of the TrackBar. Beep() isn't really what I'm after. I was wanting it to smoothly transition through the frequencies. Basically, I want to create something that sounds something like a Theremin.
I've been looking online, and I can't seem to find anything. I don't even know how this would be accomplished. Is there a simple command to say "play this frequency until I tell you otherwise", or do I need to generate a .wav on the fly and have the system play that?

even Word Pad, when you scroll your Caret (the I-beam for browsing through text) through the text, in the font combobox, the font of the text you are browsing through will be displayed, and when you scroll your caret through a different font, the font will be changed. If you're confused, look at attatched picture.
I cannot seem to find a caret position changed event on the normal richtextbox control - and if anyone can show me a custom component with this it would help me a huge amount.So my basic question is how can i replicate the formentioned function in my own VB.NET program.No code is necessary just constructive suggestions, or links to other projects would be welcome. I have a form in which their is a GroupBox control. I set the Font's Bold property to TRUE. I know that by default any other control put inside a gorupbox will inherit the Font's property settings. I have textboxes and labels in which I manually reset the Font Bold property to FALSE, however, I have a DataGridView that I did the same thing with but whenever I run the app in test mode, it reverts back to the Fonts' Bold property as TRUE rather than FALSE.

what I am trying to accomplish worked with the code in the last thread I posted a while back. I still am using this code, however, I changed the window size to work better and gave it a nicer background for the title screen of my project. Now what I am working on at the moment is making a settings form that has 2 labels. One for "Default" Layout and one for "Plain" layout. When default is at start, the default label is disabled,and when plain layout is clicked, the button is disabled and default button is enabled.Basically, this is a toggle switch for default or plain where if one is enabled, the option for it is disabled and the other is enabled.My problem is that when I switch from Plain back to default, the background Image will not switch back from the plain background color of "control"Here is my code:

I have a VB app which draws primitive shapes (lines, filled rectangles etc.) into a picturebox control (from its paint event). I've since found out that a picturebox is probably the worst control to use for this. I've also found out that it's better to draw directly onto the form but I don't really want to do this as a control gives clipping for 'free'.
What would be the best control for this? The panel control looks like a good candidate but the experiment I tried actually performed worse

In order to take advantage of the spell checking ability of WPF textboxes, I have added one to a user control (with the use of elementhost). This user control is used in various window forms. My current problem is trying to handle keyup events from this textbox but the windows form is unable to "get" any event from the control. I can access the properties of the textbox just fine (i.e. text, length, etc.) but keyboard events don't seem to work.I have found, however, that the following will bring back events from the WPF textbox:

The user control is now able to do something after the PreviewKeyUp event is fired in the WPF textbox. Now, I'm not completely sure how to have the window form containing this user control to work with this.

I am attempting to write a VB.net application which will allow users to create their own widget plugins in html/jscript and i would like to set my own security options in the applications settings allowing users to choose what can run or not eg scripts, flash, activex.I would like to allow activex controls to be used without the windows security dialog in the WebBrowser Control (An ActiveX control is trying to interact with the page...) or what ever it says.
I started customizing the WB Control to suite my needs implementing various interfaces such as IOleClientSite, IDocHostShowUI, IDocHostUIHandler, etc...I can't seem to find anything that will allow me to control the security permissions of the WB Control. I tried to implement IHttpSecurity and IInternetSecurityManager but I'm either barking up the wrong tree or not doing it right.
