1. How to have a checkbox on this Column header, which on checking must check all the rows in the DGV and vice versa?
2. How do i get the Boolean value of the checked rows in DGV on event handling? In other words, how do i know what rows are selected?

May 6, 2009Is it possible to add a button column to a datagridview and then remove a select group of these from rows without removing the rows themselves? That is, I want the ability to hide or remove these buttons in certain rows after certain actions have occured. I realized that I could simply delete the rows with these buttons, but I want to keep the data in these rows visible without the user thinking they have to use the buttons. I am assuming that I can also disable the buton in the desired rows as well.

Feb 2, 2012I need a help with showing/hiding rows in datagridview by setting the trackbar value. The below example works if there are not too much rows. If there are greater number of rows then after you change a value of trackbar you must wait for a few seconds for the datagridview to redraw and only then you can use trackbar again.Apparently I must use multithreading to achieve what I want: when I use trackbar, datagridview starts to redraw, but if I use trackbar again before datagridview finishes redrawing, it immediately stops redrawing according to previous trackbar value and starts to redraw from the beginning according to current trackbar value. That way trackbar will never be frozzen (stuck, unusable...).I tried with backgroundworker but got error "Cross-thread operation not valid: Control '' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on." I have old and slow computer. If you have new and fast computer maybe you wont experience what I'm describing here so try to increase number of added rows in line 'For i As Integer = 1 To 5000' (I added 5000 rows here) - and if you have even older and slower computer than you will have to decrease this value or you will have to wait to long after you drag the thumb in trackbar.

Oct 13, 2011Our site is developing against a 3rd party API (Wonderware) that returns datasets and datatables from certain calls. The issue we are having with some of the calls is the data returned is more than we want to show to the end users. We are binding the data to a datagrid, and will sometimes get back 20+ columns of data we don't need to show. Is there a way to filter the datatable of columns before binding it to the datagrid? Right now we are using the datagrid to hide the columns, but I think it would be better to strip out the columns of data we don't need before binding to the grid.

Jul 30, 2010How would i delete only the successful inserted rows for insert and then move the non successful rows up and allow the user to correct the data and get it ready for an insert. If i dont delete the successful rows then i will have multiple inserts of the same dataRow and we dont want that! AND if i dont move the data up then it will have blank rows uptop and will end the try and not insert the corrected data. You can better see what logic i am trying to perform at the bottom of my code, right after I insert into the database. Here is my code.

As I used rowstyle property and it works
But the issues are
1) It works very slow
2) It seems as form is vibrating and lightning behind the panel when rows are hiding or showing(jerky motion of hiding or showing)
I also used the control .visible property for each control of the row but it also make same problem of being slow

I keep getting an error "Invalid Operation Exception was Unhandled" error. All I am attempting to do is allow the user to select products from a list(or a second datagridview) and have it added to the datagridview so they do not have to type in every cell since the other cells are not visible because they do not purtain to their needs. Plus they will be able to save all items at the same time.

Am not sure whether am using the right approach to my problem. See i have this datagridview that contains rows that i would like have saved back into the Database as new rows but with a column altered to a new value.
Eg
PKColumn1 FKColumn2
Column3 Column4

What am looking at is Change FKColumn2 (some foreign key, maybe i can also have a combo box somewhere on the form and an "import to") values to something like 2 and save the rows back to the database without loosing the original rows.

Background information: The DataGridView (DataGridViewCalib) is in one TabPage of a TabControl, some columns of the DataGridView are automatically DataGridViewCheckBoxColumn as the DataSource have some colums which are Boolean. This is a Windows Form written in VB.Net with Visual Studio 2008. The user loads an input data file.
The problems:
1) At first arrival in the TabPage, ShowDataGridViewCalib (code below) is called. All rows are then shown in the DataGridView, despite the code saying that some rows should not be visible. Breakpoints in the code show that the code do arrive at the Rows.Visible = False events. Despite all rows beeing shown a Watch in the debugger shows that:

CheckboxColumn1 is "Parent" and CheckboxColumn2 is "Child", they are related to each other. It's a requirement that the Parent has to have at least 1 Child meaning it can be One(P) is to ManyŠ or One(P) is to OneŠ. If the user didn't meet the said requirement, the system should not allow him to insert the selected records to the database. That's why I've decided to Disable the button unless the user checked the two checkboxcolumn. Meaning if the user only checked the checkbox/es in the Child column, the button will remain disabled, same concept with the Parent checkboxcolumn. The button that I'm talking about is what I call "Consolidate Button".
I tried this:

I managed to include the checkbox column in the datagridview but i do not know how to wrte the code such that when the user wants to update or edit the data in the checked row, he just have to check the affected rows checkbox, can be one or many, and then click on ok button, which will then lead him to the data updater form, allowing him to update the data.
