View 5 RepliesI have created a user control with some properties but when I change them in a form and build the return to the default value, Here is the code I did:
Public Property ButtonFind As Boolean
Get
Return CmdFind.Visible
End Get
Set(ByVal value As Boolean)
CmdFind.Visible = value
End Set
End Property
I'm making a control and I am trying to finalize my design time properties grid. I have several List(of Class) items as public properties and when I click on the design time menu (while testing the control) there is the word "Collection" and a button with an ellipsis (...) that brings up a neat pop up with the buttons Add/remove and all of the public properties of the collection's class on the right hand side. Basically for a non-collection instance of a class (with public properties) I'd like a similar button to show up. I know I could put all of the properties in the main control class and group them, but I like the pop up box feature. Anyway to duplicate this? (think font grid item etc.)
View 3 RepliesI have my own class of graphic objects, and now I'd like to allow a user to right-click on one of those within the application and see a properties window. Is there a pre-built dialog or control for displaying properties at runtime? I'd like to have something just like the IDE properties window button for my application.
View 4 RepliesThe company has a Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate project that is written in Visual Basic. The project has several strings in the resources file (Resources.resx). One of those strings (VersionSuffix) contains "" when we are distributing a normal version of our product and "BETA" when we are distributing a beta version of our product. Most of the time we distribute a normal version of our product. Therefore, most of the time the resource string VersionSuffix contains "".
Recently, we attempted to distribute a beta version of our product. Therefore, we changed resource string VersionSuffix from "" to "BETA". However, it quickly became apparent that the resource string VersionSuffix was being used as the default value for several control properties in the form designer. For example, if I draw a rich textbox on a form then file FORMNAME.Designer.vb will contain the following.
Me.RichTextBox1.Location = New System.Drawing.Point(286, 306)
Me.RichTextBox1.Name = "RichTextBox1"
Me.RichTextBox1.Size = New System.Drawing.Size(134, 33)
Me.RichTextBox1.TabIndex = 32
Me.RichTextBox1.Text = Global.PROJECTNAME.My.Resources.Resources.VersionSuffix
We are unable to find anything anywhere that indicates that this resource string should be used as the default value for control properties. Therefore, we have no idea why this resource string is being used for this purpose. We would like to change the control property assignments in the designer from Me.RichTextBox1.Text = Global.PROJECTNAME.My.Resources.Resources.VersionSuffix
Me.RichTextBox1.Text = "" However, we don't know why these strange assignments are being made. Therefore, as soon as someone adds another control the problem will most likely return. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to prevent it from happening again?
I got on my form textboxes, checboxes but also a groupbox which holds texboxes.
The idea is to be able to clear and reset all of these by clicking a reset button.
At the moment i got this
Private Sub ClearFields()
Dim ctrl As Control
[Code].....
But ofc Me.controls isn't gonna get involved with the stuff in the groupbox.
Im trying to achieve a complete reset of a form i have used. I have a parent form and want to reset the second form... Im completly new to using multiple forms however some researching has lead me to this... as posted by a previous user in 2005 'if it's a form that's opened from another form in the parent form you can make a Friend Sub that will close the current form and make a new instance of it and open it, then when you need the form to be "reset" the form just call the parent form's sub '
View 3 RepliesI am having trouble resetting all the controls on my forms. I have a log in page and a logout button. If i select the logout button I want all the data in the other forms to reset to their defaults so that if another user logs in it will be a blank application for them to fill in.
View 4 RepliesI need code for reseting form settings for my project.It had 5 comboboxes and 5 buttons.When selecting colors on comboboxes, buttons go that color.And does the calculation for the resistance measure( shown in code ).I just need something to when pressing reset button reset those form settings.Becouse the integer numbers of the buttons stay in system, and choosing new colors wont give same result.So, here's the code for more obvius lookup:
Public Class Otpor
Dim prvo As New List(Of String)
Dim ÄŒetvrto As New List(Of String)

I have 2 forms, FormA and FormB

How do I clear/reset the BackColor of a windows application form? For instance, I have a set of radio buttons, each one changes the color of the background form color, when i reset the radio buttons i would also like to reset the color of the form back to it's original state?
View 2 Repliesi would like to get my form to open form with textboxes empty and ready for being populated. I have tried the coded below:
'Clear textboxes on form load
Private Sub ClearTextBoxes(Byval ctl As Control)
For Each ctl In Me.Controls

I want to implement a button that will reset everything so the user can start again. I have done this but it still triggers off all my validation coding i have. Is there something against the button so it will bybass all validation.
View 4 RepliesWhat I've done is create a User Control Library (Project) and I've added a single User Control to that project. The control contains a single FlowLayoutPanel, and I created a Property on the control itself to pass the FlowDirection from the Control to its FlowLayoutPanel child.
Build, reference, component appears in the Toolbox and everything works fine, but the property on the control does not appear in the Properties window when I go to edit it at design time.
I would like to be able to set Control visual properties such as color, boarder, flat style, etc. on the base class of the control so that as I add new instances of the control, each instance inherits the visual properties of the base. I have tried using Application Settings but it appears as though I need to reference an application setting manually each time I add the control to a form. This is a Windows Form question.
View 4 RepliesI tried it and get an error but maybe I'm tring the wrong way. Can a usercontrol inherate an application defined class ie.. could you inheritance a classic rect class into a user control to add the hight and width properties to the control without having to do all the coding all over again? Currently I just declair a private instance of the class within the control and then encapsalate. It would be nice if I could just inherit all the functionality of my classes into controls designed to implament the classes.
View 1 RepliesMy program is only one form, at a certain point I want the form to reload, and have all the variables and arrays be reset? I am able to to reload the form by:
Dim frm As Form
frm = New frmMain
frm.Show()
But the original form still stays open? My program is a version of blackjack. when who won or lost is figured out i want all the cards to clear (held in an array of picture boxes) I have random numbers generated (also put into an array) each random number then finds the image of the card it belongs too and then places it into the array of picture boxes. How to reset the arrays so I thought maybe trying to just reload the form would work?
Ok, so I am building my own program to control a video player I have through telnet, I have everything else working except one thing.I have a reset button to reset the player, when I press it, it sends the string "Reset" and the unit resets without a problem.But when I add a code to close the winsock connection upon reset, it doesn't send the string to the unit. I am sure what is happening is the winsock is getting closed at the exact same time it is trying to send the string and so it fails to send, how do I make it close winsock AFTER the string has been sent? [code]

View 5 RepliesI have a moving label in FrmAbout and when the form initially opens for the first time the label moves from right to left exactly how it should, but when that window is closed and then re-opened the label continues moving from the position it was in when the window was closed. How can I reset the labels position to the starting position when the form as been opened or closed?Here is the code that I currently have inside the Tick Event. I have tried resetting the timer, thinking that maybe that would work, but it has not.

The following code does create a form within a form and does place NotePad inside the child form. You have to manually start NotePad prior to execution (I work on that later) but the code does work¦ My problem is now I want to manipulate the properties of notepad i.e. focus, size, location, etc. but I cannot figure out how to reference notepad and its properties.

So I was wondering if anyone has done their own Forms (inheriting windows form and editing the properties) and if so, what your finished result was. And, if you are willing to post a screenshot of your finished result, that would be sweet! Trying to get some ideas of what can be accomplished with customizing the default form.
View 1 RepliesIs there anyway that I can access all the properties of a control during runtime and
get their values. I dont want to specify the property name. I should get the all the

View 1 Repliesi had designed a form with various controls added some days ago. Accordingly i had coded the controls. And today i didnt like the look and feel of the form, so i copied the controls for a while and then re-pasted it over a new control (panel). Now when i double click to see the underlying code of the control generates a new event. I mean i had a button as Button1 and its underlying code was under the Button1_Click event. But now its is like Button1_Click_1 which i dont understand. Is it due to formation of control array or what? I want the button to be remapped to Button1_Click event.

In our IDE, for example, Visual Studio, if we display the properties of a System.Windows.Forms.Button control, we see some properties that expose anoter set of properties. For example: FlatAppearance, Font, Location, Margin, etcetera.I would like to do something similar in a custom control.I know the code behind is wrong, but here is an example of what I´m trying to do:
Public Class StateOfMyCustomControl
Public Enum EnumVisibility
Visible
[code]....
In my IDE, in the properties window of my custom control, I would like to see my property State, with the possibility of display it to set the properties Visibility and EventManagement.
