LDAP Query To Return All Users In A Specific Group?
Feb 24, 2010how i can get a list of users who are members of a group in Active Directory. A vb.net example would be great. I can list all users in AD, but cannot get just the users in a group.
Also do anybody know of a really easy tutorial on LDAP queries with vb.net examples.

Jul 21, 2010I've never scripted anything before,Using Listing 6 from [URL].. I have amended the script for my domain, and the response is correct for the Default Domain Policy. However we have a different password policy for an OU within the domain, so I amended the script as follows:

I hoped this would pick up the maxPwdAge which is set for this OU, but the response I get says the max password age is 0. This is not the case. The max password age is 2 (doing some testing), but it can't see this. Have I done something wrong, or can this script only see the Default Domain Policy, and not the individual OU policies?
LDAP Query - Error In Select String

The Locate String is there because thats the location where the iso files are but the application is in the root of the drive. The ListBox1 command is fairly easy to understand

Oct 26, 2010I'm amazed at this situation. In QBasic, you could just easily GET and PUT whatever you wanted at the exact position in the file that you wanted. Now in Visual Basic 2008 I'm just completely stumped.
I can't use FilePut or FilePutObject because of a twisted issue. It adds a couple of bytes to describe the length of the data being written: what's the point of BINARY read/write if it won't allow you to write EXACTLY what you want and nothing less or more? There's a way to turn off this issue, and that's by setting the parameter StringisFixedLength to TRUE, but that's where the twisted part comes in. You can't do that. As far as I can tell you have to redefine the function using SUB, for example:

My.Computer.FileSystem.WriteAllBytes. To my amazed surprise, this function doesn't even bother to include the possibility that I might want to put the data in a specific position within the file! I can't believe this. You can either specify to APPEND at the end or not, in the latter case apparently resulting in a write to the beginning of the file. No option at all to specify where in the file you want to put the data. I can't believe this.
How do you write to a SPECIFIC position in a binary file in VB 2008, and do it without the program deciding to add a few "informative" bytes to your data before it's written (totally undermining the whole point of binary files)?

Jun 18, 2012Synopsis: I have a report generated from the report wizard in VB that works, but I only want to load data from the same department as the current user.
Details: The application connects to MySQL using the MySQL Connector/Net. I have a users table in the database, one of the fields is "Dept_ID." The report I currently have works loads data and everything fine, but I only want to load some of the data from the table, specifically where Dept_ID matches the current user's Dept_ID, basically adding the "WHERE" clause to the select statement.
I used the report wizard to generate the report and data table, etc, just followed from step one. I've looked around and have found something about using parameters, but can't seem to figure out how to pass a variable to the parameter, or if that is even the best option. Using the wizard, I don't have any code to show for it and the report works like it should, I just need to figure out how to configure it further.
