Import A Query From Access 2003 Into Visual Studio 2010?
Dec 13, 2010
Is it possible to import a query from Access 2003 into Visual studio 2010 (language used vb.net).
I created the queries originally for a project, then when I imported the database to visual studio I can only use the tables that i created. I have started looking at the coding to re-do these, but if I can import them would it be quicker?
If I create a windows app which I link to an MS Access databse file that already exists..will I need to have MS Office installed on every computer at which I want to use the app? If not then how do I go about making a standalone windows app that will store information in a database of some form or another ?
I have a database in access and one of the fields is 'Is Quick'. I have a query that filters all of these out. How would I get the data from that query in Visual Studio 2010 (Express). VB code please.
I am new to VB and trying my hand at the below code. I am trying to determine the number of records for each possible combination. Depending on the outcome of the number of records groups may be combined. I am not able to find the record count for each grouping. Can you please look at the code below and suggest what I am doing wrong?
I have limited experience with Visual Studio and have a question about Querying an Access database. I have created a Visual Studio application that displays and modifies an access database. I have use datagridview and detailed view to insert data and view data in the Access database. I am now trying to figure out the best way to query the data in the database. I have tried right clicking a table in the database explorer and creating a new query. Everything works and I can view the data but I am unsure how to display this query result in datagridview. So my question is how do I view this result in datagrid view?
I'm running into a bit of a roadblock here. I have tried to search the web/forums for answer for last several hours to no avail and I'm not the expert VB Programmer. However, I was able to write an app to do the following:
1) read Outlook emails for particular emails containing xml link in which I was able to download the file and save to my hard drive.
2) opened the Excel spreadsheet to run the macro which import those XMLs into existing XLS spreadsheets to refresh the data.
3) Those XLS spreadsheets are linked in my MS Access in which I join all four XLS sheets to create one report via Query which I have created in the past prior to this app development.
I have manually done a File Export of this query via ALT+F then E and what I'd like to do is to either take control of menu commands OR alternate method of performing a File Export to a new Excel spreadsheet (version 2003).I've seen two different methods, one via DoCmd OutputtoFile and another is TransferSpreadsheet. Here's my Access coding I have in my VB 2010:
Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop Public Class OutlookOfflineEmailExtractor Dim wsAccessApp As Access.Application
I am working in a project where i have to add employees in a company. I have a form with text fields(for example name,surname,age,...). What i want is to insert this txt values into a database. I'm looking for a control that allows images to be placed onto it and moved about. Moreover, I need to draw lines between the images. It will sort of be like the query designer in SQL Man Studio. It will be used as a virtual desktop where a variety of objects (and their icon representations) can be freely placed and moved. I'm having a blank and cant remember where I saw this before.
I have created a form that does some access sql statements. Using the below code, I can run 9 different SQL statements that purge and load tables. For some reason 1 statement does not work. I do not receive any error, it just doenst load the table.
I have a class assignment and I am having some difficulty with an Access 2010 database and OLE objects in the database. I have the database imported into the project and I am able to view the records from the database that I have in labels and combo boxes.
I used the database DataSoure wizard to create my connection string and import the Access database. In the DataSouce window I set the DataSet for the "Flag" column that contains my pictures to use a picture box object type and added the data bound object to my form.
When I run the application all the field from the database show as expected however, the picture box object does not display the images from the database. When I check the picture box object in the designer the properties window shows that the image source is bound to my database with the little database icon and the data bindings are all correct.
I am trying to write a Project to keep track of my favorite sports teams and scores and store and retrieve the data from a database. I am using vb.net and accdb files. I am able to connect to the tables( 3 tables Players'Keep track of individual stats',OpposingTeams'Keep track of who my team played',Games'matches between the two teams') and Visual studio made it easy to display the teams in comboboxes but this is as far as i can get.
I am wondering how to have a textbox query the Games table and "insert a record into the table, thus creating a primary key and returning the primary key to visual studio and display it in the texbox"
I am need to create a several applications that have reports based on data from Oracle, I have been trying to use Visual Web Developer Express and Visual Studio Express and have run into some big hurdles with things the Express versions won't do very well.My question now is Visual Studio 2003 still a viable product to use? I own a copy of 2002 and a 2003 upgrade and it has Crystal reports in it.
I am in process of upgrading to Visual Studio 2008 from 2003. Most of the upgrade is easy except this one issue:When application is trying to Decrypt encrypted data from database, it is throwing following error. This code works fine with Visual Studio 2003.[code]
I need to display records from a database in Access in Visual Studio 2010. The project Im looking to create needs to display all of the records from the database and allow the user to navigate throughout the set of records.
I have a program designed in VB.net for a wafer probing system. The software has 3 main components that come standard and three that are options. When a customer decides not to have the three options they are disabled but still in the program. If at some point they decide to buy the options, one of our technicians would have to go there and be able to access the program with an administrative account to enabled the components.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what the easiest way to accomplish this?
I have a VB Windows Application in Visual Studio 2003 complete with it's own setup project. What I would like to do is during the installation of that project is to install a shortcut icon on the desktop that points to the location of the .exe file that was just installed on the user's machine. Unfortunately this option in the setup is not easy to find (at least to me) on Visual Studio 2003. What would I need to do in order to get that shortcut icon to pop-up automatically?
I am working on a windows application using microsoft visual studio 2003 editor in vb.net
In Page1 RMNNo will be generated automatically and it will ask the user to enter the number of items in Page2. So in next form, all the item details i want to enter. But i cant display the second screen multiple times, I decided to create a table at run time, the number of rows will change depending on the number of items entered by the user. But in the table we may have to get some of the values from the database and display as a combo box so that the user can select from the list. So i decided to use the editable data grid.
I need to migrate projects that was made in visual studio 2003 but this projects includes several applications that acts as the base for different clients and every client has its own personalization of the product.visual studio 2008 use an architecture in order to turn everything into a single system with differents configurations?

In newer editions of .Net I can pass -1 for the output size for VarChar(Max) columns, but in Visual Studio 2003 I get the following System.ArgumentException: Invalid parameter Size value '-1'. The value must be greater than or equal to 0. What should I specify as the size for a VarChar(Max) column in Visual Studio 2003?
I can launch a program from inside my program and embedded it in my program using a Visual Basic Control such as a Panel. That works well if you launch say NotePad or Calculator. However, If I want to launch a program that uses MULTIPLE forms... all that gets embedded is the Main Form... All the other forms are floating on the desktop nonconstrained... So If I minimize my program the other forms are still shown. So what I am attempting to do is to get ALL the Forms from the external program embedded into their own objects on my form.Have pieced together a program from a couple of program samples that I have seen across the internet... Here's the code so far:[code]The Main form for the program that I am attempting to embed is 384 x 347 in size.Panel1 is a Panel Control on my Main Form."MyProgram.exe" is a program that I have written myself.I have looked at Spy++ for Visual Studio 2003 and it is able to identify ALL the forms from my program. My question is how do I embed ALL the forms from my external program in the NEW Program?
I'm using VS.NET 2003 and VB.NET. I have placed my log4net.config file in the same folder as the source code and I want to automatically copy the log4net.config file to the bin folder just as the app.config file is copied to bin. Is there an automatic way to do this?
