Iterate Over Two IEnumerable Objects At The Same Time?

Jun 11, 2009

If I have a List(Of x) and a List(Of y) is it possible to iterate over both at the same time?

Something like

for each _x as X, _y as Y in List(of x), List(of y)
if _x.item = _y.item then
'do something
end if
next

These lists may be of differing sizes. I am using .Net2.0 which I suspect is my downfall here as I have a feeling LINQ would solve something like easily by joining the lists on there common id.

I am trying to iterate through all the connection strings in App.Config using VB.net.

I would like to:

1. Get a count of all the connection strings

2. Put them all into a listbox.

I have tried using System.Configuration.ConfigurationSettings but am unsure exactly how to get the collection/listof connection strings.

The application is a WinForms VB.net .net 4.0 app.

back in May minitech gave me a code to loop inside the C drive and list all of the files.

The code is only good for one specific path such as C: est, but what i was thinking was to search in more directory's at one time. Before i go and make integers, and very bad code practices. I was thinking if someone could suggest a better way of accomplishing my task.

Directory.GetLastWriteTime Returns Wrong Time?

Nov 26, 2009

I'm trying to get the last time the directory was updated (written to), and if it's later than the date i have stored i want to process that directory for new/changed information. The problem I'm having is that the Directory.GetLastWriteTime(path) seems to only get updated with creating and deletion of files.when a user just updates an existing file (for example a text document) the GetLastWriteTime remains the same for the directory even though the modified time of the text file has changed.

I don't want to itterate through the files in the directory, is there any reason the directory last write time does not get updated when modifying an existing file?

Open File Retain The Directory Of The Last Opened File?

Jan 10, 2010

So I open files and do whatever with them right. I've set the initial directory to equal the last directory, but whenever I open multiple files, it never sets the directories properly. It acts as though nothing was opened there, so it takes the previous directory as the last one. Thoughts on what's not working? Here's the code.

Code:
With FileOpenDialog1
.InitialDirectory = LastDirectory
If .ShowDialog = DialogResult.OK Then

[code]....

I have multiselect enabled earlier and everything else works but this. When you open a single file, the last directory works fine. It only happens with multiselect. On another note, does anyone know why it freezes when I try to do a lot of files and use another program? I opened 700+ files to see what would happen. When I switched to a IM convo, it froze. When I left it to run, it worked.
