In my program, I want the user to be able to move an MDI child window anywhere inside the MDI container but I need it to be kept completely inside the container boundary. For example, the upper left corner should never be at a location less than 0,0 when moved left or up. Currently, if I slide the child window too far left, it extends outside of the MDI container window and the MDI container shows the bottom scroll bar.
Is there a way to prevent the child window from moving outside of the boundaries of the container window? I tried adding code to the .move (see below) so that if the new location was less than 0,0 then it reset it to 0,0 but then the child window controls flicker as the window is moved beyond 0,0 and the logic moves it back to 0,0. It appears that even though the code changes the location to 0,0 and the window shows the child moved to 0,0, when the mouse moves again, the window jump back to its unmoved location.
Private Sub MyForm_Move(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Move
If Location.X < 0 Then
I have this simple set a codes that opens a form as a child in MDI container.
Private Sub BarButtonItem1_ItemClick(sender As System.Object, e As DevExpress.XtraBars.ItemClickEventArgs) Handles BarButtonItem1.ItemClick frmConfirmShipment.MdiParent = Me
[Code]....
When i run this set of codes, system keep telling me that same form cannot be both mdichild and mdiparent, however, I never set my child form as a parent.
see the code below i placed form and made it isMDIcontainer=trueadded treeview to this form and docked to leftadded split Containeradded 2 child forms namde Form3 & Form4
everything ok, except one thing the child forms not showing up
Public Class Form2 Private Sub Form2_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
So currently i have been working on a application that is a MDI parent, with child forms. I use a un docked toolstrip as a toolbox since i like the small icons and mouse hover, but one issue that bugs me is that when a child form is open in the parent form it's "under" the toolstrip. For example moving childform1 pass the toolstrip menu makes the form go under rather ontop. Is there anyway to give the child forms foreground when moving?
I have it so that for each entry node in the XML file, it creates a new label then it creates a textbox under it. Both are added to a Collection so I can reference and delete them later. The label and textbox are set inside a panel container. I'm planning to make changes to the interface.
A panel with enabled scrollbars has many buttons. If I push the tabulation key, focus navigates between buttons. When a partially visible button has focus, the panel scrolls itself in order to completely show the button.
I had a master form which has a MDI container. When I was load the master form, I will also display another form inside the MDI container. But I was fail to maximize the child form to fix the MDI container. The image below is my problem Untitled2.jpg. I need to expand the form above to touch the MDI container border. (Full size in the MDi container)But I was fail even I was set the child form window state to Maximized
I create a new mdi child inside my mdi parent. do the work, save the data and close the form. Then I open the same form again, different record, and it opens up cascading as if the 1st form is still open. (even though it is closed)I've search the net for the past hour, and can find no concrete information regarding this issue. Now imagine sales department creating 100 sales orders a day. they keep on having the issue to move the form back to the top.
I am having a toolstrip in the mdi form which contains save, update delete and clear buttons. The child form is having save, update, delete and clear as public sub routines , and client form will not have any standard buttons, I will click the respective button in the parent tool window which should call the child forms function.
It is my goal to write a program to run a retail store. I am an intermediate Access developer, so I have a good grasp of the basics. However, I find that developing in VB 2010 is quite different.I will have forms for:
Company Information Employee Information Supplier Information Customer Information Invoices & Purchase Orders
All I really need to know at this point is the code to open and close each form.
Im working with MDI parent/child objects. when closing the child objects i need the child to check to see if it is the last child object before closing. i couldn't find anything on google, maybe im searching for the wrong thing.
I have create a project with one main form window and also i have to use a number of other forms as well. now i want to open these other forms inside the main window and not outside. I'm using Visual Studio .NET 2010 as developing environment.
I have a 'property management class' that contains several functions and properties. I have several other classes that use the 'management class' as a property to derive the value of several of its other properties. Is there a way for me to reference the outer class from the 'management class' functions without having to pass it as a parameter? I ask because several different classes can have this 'management class' as a property and am having a hard time typing the parameter.
how to minimize child form inside of parent mdi form in vb.net? I change the property of "IsMdiContainer" to "True". but when i minimize parent mdi form, it is not minimize the child form.
The following code does create a form within a form and does place NotePad inside the child form. You have to manually start NotePad prior to execution (I work on that later) but the code does workŠ My problem is now I want to manipulate the properties of notepad i.e. focus, size, location, etc. but I cannot figure out how to reference notepad and its properties.
Dim obj_DataTable As New System.Data.DataTable("Category") Dim obj_DataSet As New DataSet() 'Declaring the array of DataColum to hold the Primary Key Columns
My program handles XML files that have certain elements within a root-child node that are identical expect for their inner text value. So while populating my combo box with all of a root-child's child element's names I get like five identical items listed. Which brought about the problem of selecting say the third item and getting the value of the first displayed. So I came up with a loop function that determines if the selected combo box item is preceded by one of the same name, if it is, then it adds +1 to a counter variable and keeps checking farther and farther up the list. Once it loops to an item that doesn't have the same name it exits and it reads the Xth (X = counter mentioned earlier) element's inner text from the file. This works great for elements 1, 3, 4, and 5. But not for 2. A while back when I was focused on this problem I discovered the root of the problem but I was unable to circumvent it. I'll put the loop below so you can see the problem in action instead of trying to follow my verbose explanation:
I'm from denmark and hope I can explain my question for you. This is just a example: I have a panel, let's say panel1 and another panel on that panel (panel2) and so on until for example panel5 - on panel5 I have a button (button1). Now I would like to change button1's backcolor property through code how do I then get access to button1, now it's a child-control on panel5 that is a child control on panel4 etc. ??

I am making an invoicing application. I have a label (lblCost) inside of a UserControl (InvoiceEntry) inside of a FlowLayoutPanel (pnlEntries). InvoiceEntry represents a line item on the invoice, and pnlEntries is the "body" of the invoice. pnlEntries can hold several InvoiceEntry controls.
I am attempting to sum all of the lblCost values from each InvoiceEntry control to make a subtotal, and I want that subtotal to change automatically if costs are changed (e.g., a change in quantities being ordered). Is there a way to handle when the lblCost.Text property of any of the InvoiceEntry controls contained within pnlEntries changes?

im new to coding (started coding last month) so im a little stuck on how to do this, im making some emulation programs to learn coding with, and a part of it is to point the app to a .iso/.bin file and scan the data inside of the iso/bin to check if a file exists.[code]My issue is i cant find any class examples, or any information etc on how to code it so my application can see the data inside of the iso/bin instead of just see'ing the iso/bin file, so that i can then check the data inside the iso to see if the file exists etc.Im a novice still at coding so making a new class myself to look inside the iso/bin is to complex for me.
