1. I get a list of excel files from a dir into a list box and search for number by select each files at once. I want to select multiple files at once and search them one by one.May be using checklistbox.
2. The output is shown in a new window (labels) with result from that particular file. If multiple files are selected that the output should show result from all files in different labels.
3. Excel program stays open in memory after closing my application.
4. Also I cant get the app to display message "maskedtextbox1.text" not found in the sheet.[code]

View 1 RepliesIve built a very small application for personal use only. Ive been working on it for around 2-3 weeks & have just finally completed it this morning.
Basically what I want to do is add a button to my form which will allow me to take the contents of the listbox and print it out or atleast be able to save it to a word document or something of that kind, I'm not entirely sure how I would go about doing this. I have this Quiz software that lets you create online multiple choice quizzes which are great for studying (I am in grad school and I'm trying to use everything I can to learn). So the Quiz software is great but it only lets you input questions by hand, one by one. I took a look at the .xml file that the quiz program spits out and came up with the idea to try and make a converter so that I can import many questions at once. I was hoping to try and solve this limitation by doing the following:
Take a .doc that say a tutor gives us with a bunch of practice questions, and then take that into Crimson Editor, and then format it so the question is on line 1, the multiple choice answers are on lines 3,4,5, and 6, (for the next question, the question would be on line 11, and the answers on lines 13, 14, 15, and 16, and so on) and then take that saved .txt file into my program, hit the generate button, and it will spit out the .xml file, and then import that into the quiz software to generate the online quiz.

I figured out how to open a text file by watching simple youtube tutorials, but I don't know how to have it generate the stuff and have it show up in the bottom text box. I know how to do the coding to convert the txt to proper xml code but I don't know how to be able to save the contents of the bottom text window to an xml file.

And then saves. When the come back and load this i want to be able to load it back exactly like that so the can continue with what they are doing. A form that will display the contents of a folder? I have my forms set up, I want the user to then click on a button that will load up a nw form which will contain a window that is a folder in one of my drives. There may be folders inside this main folder which the user can go into, but they can't go back frrom the original main folder and look at the other contents. First up, Is an explorer form the one I am looking for? Making one of those, it seems to be the right path but where to from there?
Another thing I need to be able to do is have the user double click on the files inside of the folder. When double clicked the folder still maintains its current state, as the files that will be clicked will do the work in the background. I have all the forms set up and linked together, I just need to know how to get this folder into a form..

the project i am currently working on has a form in it that has quite a few objects that take a couple of seconds to load. Because of that, if i simply use the .show command, the form shows up, but there are a bunch of blank white boxes where the content is still loading, how can i have the form not become visible until ALL of the contents and images inside are fully loaded?
View 1 RepliesI created a program that has serval labels on a form and a listview object. It has a button that when clicked reads a textfile and loads up values in the listview object. I then can click and drag text from the listview box to any label on the form and then the program removes the value from the listview box. Now, my question is how can I instruct VB to save these values in the text property of the labels so that the next time the program is loaded the labels will contain the values loaded during the last run time session?

The user could double click on FileA and my app opens and displays the file contents (the path of FileA has been passed as a parameter) No problem there. The problem is that if the user then double clicks on FileB and I read the parameter it still contains the path to FileA. What trick am i missing here?
(If i add a debug line that forces the code to be FileB's path the the app works correctly in terms of opening a new tab, reading the contents etc.) (vb.net 2010)
I'm in the process of adapting a current program that I've created to automate it. **Current State***User selects an excel file and the contents are loaded into a DataGrid User can select which environment to run their query against (stage/prod) Program completes processing and updates datagrid with new values User can export datagrid to excel What I'd like to do is centralize the program on one computer and have it monitor a network folder for creation of a specific file type (*.xls or *.xlsx). If one of these is created in that folder then I want to add that file to a queue for processing. Once done processing I want to send the results as an attachment to an email to the user that created the file. After a file is processed I would like to remove it from that folder as well (into a diff folder of completed items).
