I have question about Label.Text.
When run the code Form1 load together with Form2.On Form2 I have Label1.I need that Label.Text flicker or blinking.
I have set my forms font as "Segoe UI, 14.25pt" and have just placed an single label on the form.
Upon placing the label by default it gets the forms font i.e Segoe UI, 14.25pt
i have placed the following code on the labels textchange event

Now when the form is loaded , i get a message box showing the labels font name as "Microsoft Sans Serif"
The labels font size also changes to 8 but it is italic.
Why is this happening? And why does the textchange event occur on the form load?
It didnt work for me and i dont know why. i want to display text on label when the form load.the text to display is according to the enable or disable state of some custom button .

I am upgrading user control from vb6 to vb.net.In the vb6 application I am loading 3000 labels using a label control array.In vb.net I am doing same but it's taking too much time to load.In vb6 it's taking 1-2 seconds, but in vb.net it's taking 30-40 seconds for same work. View 4 RepliesI've read many articles on how to create transparent labels but it seems to me that my particular case is not covered. Very simply I have a label placed in the upper right part of the form, which in fact is part of the menu strip. The label displays some info to the user but I wish it were transparent. I've tried various methods including

lblAct.BackColor = Color.Transparent
lblAct.BringToFront()
But cant get it to work. How I can make that label in that position transparent?

But I am stuck.Your GUI program is a game to be played by the user. See Screen Shot on Screen Shot Tab..A new employee is working on a classified mission and the program will randomly pick an expected profit to be guessed by the user.The program must randomly select an number within the range of 1 to 900.Do NOT use a 'Start Game' button to generate the rand number. Generate a rand number when the GUI is loaded.
1. Create a form that displays the rules of the game on a label.
2. Create a textbox for the user to input the guess and also a 'guess' button.
3. If the user is outside the given range, provide a proper message (<1 Is not a valid guess or >900 is not a valid guess)and clear the guess.
4. When a user has a valid guess, display a proper message (either too high or too low) and tell the user to guess again.
5. With a correct guess, display a proper message and change the form's background color to red and disable the guess textbox.
6. Create a reset button that allows the user to play the another game with a new random number.
7. Create a show me button that displays the number and does not generate another random number (allow the current game to continue).
8. Create a exit button to exit the program.
9. Ensure that you include error checking to prevent a user guess that is out of the given range and for any non-numeric characters.

Here is my code so far. I have been working on one point at a time and then testing it. I have not even made it to numbers 11 - 13. I am not getting actual errors. Instead of my reset button clearing all fields at once I am having to click it more than once. Instead of displaying messages per scenario the message label is staying on either input a number or your number is too low. There are 4 buttons and 4 pictures, and I added them in a project resource file (resources.resx).I'm not sure how to add the pictures from the picturebox index (?) to the picturebox when one of the buttons is clicked.
Scenario is this; I've a sqldatareader query that seems to be returning nothing when I try to convert the sqldatareader to a datatable using datatable.load.So I debug into it, I grab the verbose SQL query before it goes into the sqldatareader, just to make sure it's formatted correctly. I copy and paste this into SQL server to run it and see if it returns anything. It does, one row.I go back to visual studio and let the program continue, I create a datatable and try to load the sqldatareader but it just returns an empty reader. I'm baffled as to what's going on. [code] Ok I've done a loop to count the rows of the datareader before using the datatable.load method. In my test query I'm getting 4 rows (the correct amount) in the datareader, as soon as I use the datatable.load method it says the datatable is empty, what's going on?! So it seems a datareader is a one-way thing, iterate through it to get the row count and it's essentially empty as far as any other bit of code is concerned. Didn't realise it was forward only and wouldn't 'reset' once read through.

I have a dataset; I want to create an equivalent record set. What I really want to do is create the XML that a record set can load; I have no other use for the record set per se. I want to be able to load recordsets on other machines (which use VB6 ins of vb.net) with this data. I found some code that loops through the columns in the dataset and creates the fields in the record set; that's executing. However, the code given to open the record set fails with "incompatible or incorrect parameters" or some such. [Code] I can see that a recordset is a construct meant to bridge between running code and a data store of some sort, but in this case the data is "stored" in the dataset, not anywhere else. I want to put that data in the XML form that the recordset uses, so that other code that can only use recordsets (ins of datasets) will be able to read it.
