Make An OpenFileDialog Where The File Displays In A Textbox?
Jan 2, 2009
Does anybody know how to make an OpenFileDialog where the file displays in a textbox, BUT, can only show the file, not the directories(eg. "Song.mp3" Not "C:\Files\Song.mp3")I've got the code for the OpenFileDialog
If OpenFileDialog1.ShowDialog = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Then TextBox9.Text = OpenFileDialog1.FileName End If And I've added the OpenFileDialog. I just don't know how to display the file without directories.
I'm making a program that displays information for a dungeons and dragons game. i have a main form that displays all the information from a .txt file. I've made a new form that creates a new character. on this forum there are currently 7 text boxes and 6 combo boxes all containing different information for the new character.
The problem is now i want to save the new text file with each line of the text boxes and combo boxes on separate lines in the text file. My current plan was to put all the text from the 7 text boxes and combo boxes into one "main" text box then save that text box.
could someone give me a some sort of clue about opening nonexistant files in VB.NET?? I am learning this as I go, and I can open existing files using the OpenFileDialog box, but I cant not find an real explanation on how to create a file if it is not in existance... in other words, I want to know now to code so that when a user enteres a filename in the filename box in the OpenFileDialog and that file does not already exist then the file is created as a new file, and then opened. I have done some googleing and found all sorts of examples on opening existing files, but nothing that really gives a good explanation of how to create a new file and then open it...
way to display the name of a file in a textbox from an openfiledialog (including the file type) For example: Instead of "C:Users eadme.txt", to display just "readme.txt" in the textbox.
Edit: AND if possible, how to display the inverse, too ("C:Users", instead of "C:Users eadme.txt" or something)
I have files that start with unique numbers and are word documents. Say the document starts with "1234567" is there a way to make the OpenFileDialog filter to where only all the .doc files that start with "1234567" show up?

I'm trying to make a little app that displays the battery life of a notebook, and also whether it is charging or not.I've got it displaying the battery percentage and if it is running via the cable or battery alone. My problem is that I have a timer constantly ticking to grab the latest information as to whether it is still chraging, what the battery % is like, however for some reason when it first runs it get's the info but then that's it, it won't refresh the info in real time. I'm confused because the battery can deplete but the program only displays what info it got when it was first ran but if I unplug the power cord or plug it back in it refreshes that info straight away. My code is:
Public Class Form1 Dim psBattery As PowerStatus = SystemInformation.PowerStatus Dim perFull As Single = psBattery.BatteryLifePercent Dim GraphicPercent As VariantType
[code]....
The bit I've highlighted in red in my code won't work either, basically I've shaped the two labels to look like a crude battery shape and label2's function is to represent the nobly bit at the top of the battery and I wan't that to change to Lime when the battery is 100%.why it won't refresh the graphical output to the screen?
