My instructions were to use Add New Item and use the Stylesheet Template. But I do not see any such installed template under the categories.Where do I find this CSS Stylesheet template for VB porojects and install it in VSTS 2008 ?

In VB.NET,I want to create template at runtime and save it the template with name. for ex : Administrator design a page with 5 fields like using firstname, lastname, dob,nationality and job. View 3 RepliesI'm working on my first T4 code generation tool to add some Stored Procedure helper code to my project. I've created custom types (e.g. StoredProcedure and StoredProcedureParameter to help with my code generation and have included the assembly and namespace references in my code:

This allows me to use my custom types in my T4 template code. However, because my custom types exist in the same project as the T4 template code, I can't recompile my project once I run the template code without restarting Visual Studio. This isn't very much fun.
I read a great article that addresses this exact issue by using the T4 Toolbox, but it's not working. Either I'm implementing the VolatileAssembly directive wrong or the T4 toolbox simply didn't get installed. I'm not sure that the toolbox got installed correctly (I'm using VS 2010 on Win XP).
I am trying to returns records based on the last name of a customer in an access db. When I run the query in Access it works fine, the name in the examples returns 3 records with that last name. I use the same basic structure for other queries based on other fields (ID, UnitID etc) and they work fine.

I have an application that I'm writing that needs to allow the user to be able to create templates and save them for how the applicaton will work. For instance, lets say I am provisioining mobile devices, and my application allows the user to create a template to only install "application1" on the device, with "application1" settings for "devicetype1". But then if the user has "devicetype2", he or she can select the template that they created to install the software for that kind of device. I've looked around and all I find is the .exe.config for read only application settings, and I have found the user.config for the read/write variables. But that won't work as my application could have several templates depending on what the user chooses. I'm looking to have my app have a "create template", "edit existing template, and"use existing template" buttons, and have my config file extension like *.ipx for example.

When I check into Visual source safe and get latest version from another machine, VS.net 2008 throws errors.I have to add the references again in that new machine. Is there anyway where I can keep the references in spite of files checked in to VSS?I need to send copy all the files to production server and we don't have VS.net on the production box to add reference and build the application.

If I right click with the mouse on the site and view page source the links are there but for some reason download string is missing them.
Each form has a Status Strip, Menu Strip and Tools Strip.Each one of those has at least one control.Suddenly, in design and debug all of the Contrls on the SS,MS and TS controls are gone i.e. the Strips are present but they have no controls on them.Their Items (collection) property is empty.All of their event handlers are still present and can be accessed.Can anyone tell me what I did wrong and how to fix it with out deleting the Strips and redoing?
View 8 RepliesIn Visual Studio 2005, I can't seem to get the Intellisense menu to pop up at all when I click CTRL+Space. This seems to be limited to VB.NET files. I have tried creating new Visual C# and C# web projects, and it works fine there. There also doesn't seem to be a problem in things like CSS files in VB.NET projects. But when I create a new VB.NET web site, CTRL+Space does nothing. I have tried resetting all the Import and Export setting. That didn't work either.

He can view a crystal report fine on his machine, but he can't export the report to pdf, or excel etc. even tho he has the programs installed. He is just missing the export button on the report viewer. On all the other agents pcs, the button is there. And on mine as well.

in one of my previous posts, I wondered why it is that my application runs well on my laptop, but not on the laptop on my desk...When I run the application on the laptop on my work, it works...it loads...but the graphic part won't work. He gives a red cross with an OverFlow Exception, which he doesn't give when debugging on my own laptop. I checked for the memory use of the system and it only needs approx 100Mb when it's running the complete graphical part.
I was wondering whether it's possible that my laptop on my work doesn't have the right dll files to do it all. I only use standard dll-files from Visual Basic, so no downloaded dll files.Do you have to add somewhere that he has to include the Drawing.dll? because all the rest works really fine.

View 8 RepliesI'm trying to add a computed column to a datatable that references another column in the datatable. Sometimes the computed column has a mathematical operation applied to it, but in this case I'm just referencing the original column. The code looks like the following:

The code isn't actually hard coded as shown above - there are functions that return the values for the first and third parameters - but I checked those and they are returning the expected values and not generating any errors themselves.
The error is thrown when the .Add method is called, and the error states "Syntax error: Missing operand after '_1' operator." It seems to me that it doesn't like the column name, which I suppose I could change and just workaround it at the presentation level. Still, I'm curious. Is this a bug in the .net framework or something? It doesn't mind "1_1" as a column name in the datatable, so why is it having a problem with it in the expression statement?
I recently had to format my PC, So I moved my project files and build files to my External Hard Drive, and continued to work on my project.. I started to receive emails saying that the application is saying "Cannot download the application. The application is missing required files. Contact application vendor for assistance." After clicked view details, I found this:

did not succeed.
The .application file is not in Downloads, its supposed to download it from my website. And if I were to open my project on a computer with it already installed, it won't check for updates - it opens really quick without the "Viewing Application Requirements" window.

View 2 RepliesI am using VB 2008 & MS Access 2007 Databases for my Windows Forms Applications.The Problem is my Connection strings have been disappeared from DataSource Configuration Wizards & now i am unable to edit any Connection String in DataSet Designer.I had tried to create a Macro in MS Access Data File but didn't know how to create & so desided not to save any & just quit from Access and came back to Visual studio. Since then only this prob. has started. Earlier to this everything was just fine.I have tried to uninstall MS Office as well as Visual Studio then Re-installed Visual Studio but the problem is still there.

I have just written an application in visual studio 2005, and would like to publish it for use on another computer. When I try to run the publisher, it fails and reports that it is missing an XML file that is located in the bin folder. I have checked the bin folder and the file is there. I am not sure what I am doing wrong? Has anyone else seen this type of error before?
Also, I should point out that while I was creating this app, I would some times copy the project to my desk top, and then change the name of the project folder. For example: myProgramV0 would be come myProgramV1. Then I would copy this back into where I normally keep my VB projects. I do not know if this had an effect on the program or not.
i am just developing a library management system as one of my project. i using vb.net 2010 and the MS Access 2007 as back end. when i save some records into my database through my application it is correctly saved and i confirmed it through opening the relevant table in the database. but when i restart the application all the entered data were missing.
View 1 RepliesI've converted a VB6 application with the VS 2008 built-in feature successfully: upgraded some bits of code, added new features, built, tested, and run the compiled application on my development laptop successfully. Then I created a SETUP.EXE for it with the appropriate VS 2008 tool, and test that successfully on my development laptop. Then I gave the setup.exe & xxx.msi to my client and the installation went fine. So far so good.

I have Crystal Reports 2008 installed on my win7 laptop but when i go to insert references from my application settings the CrystalDecisions references are missing and im not able to find them. Note: they do exist in my "c:windowsassembly" folder.
