how can I overwrite the excel file without prompting the users in VB.Net..I have try this code but It doesn't work..

How can I save an Excel-file, which I'd edit with VB.NE, to a file, which already exists? Evertime there is a dialog: File already exists. Do you really want to overwrite? YES|NO|Abort

I'm developing an application for our IT Helpdesk to do some common tasks like installs, drive mapping, etc...
However this application needs to be run as administrator. Is there a way to get the application to bring up the RunAs prompt as soon as it runs, so the user doesn't have to do a Shift + Right click > Runas?
I have some code that fills my datagridview (VulDgv) I also have some code that exports the datatable to an excelfile (DatatableToExcel). All works pretty good. However...when I export to an existing file I get 2 warnings, first is the "file exists overwrite" warning from the savefiledialog. The second message is the "excelfile exists" from excel itselve. (is it possible to hide this message?) My real problem is after the 2 messages the code APPENDS the data to the excel file instead of overwriting it.

If the file already exists excel will open an message box and ask if you want to overwrite. If I click yes, it works. If I click no or cancel, I get an error:

I am converting several VBA projects to Windows form applications. The only problem I have is that some of the functionality of Excel is essential to the application, such as R1C1 formulas. I do not want to instantiate the Excel application or access saved worksheets. All of the data is retrieved by querying Oracle databases. 2-Dimensional arrays are not an option because the columns contain differing datatypes, and DataGridViews are too slow to work with.
I thought simply dimming a Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet object would be enough, but the program kept failing and upon inspecting the object's elements in debug mode, I found that every value says this:

i am wondering if there are any case studies / white papers available comparing web applications to remote desktop applications on running on comparable hardware? What I am trying to get at is if a web application can support more users, as far as hardware resources go, than the same windows based application running on terminal services?

I have a security program that stops editing the macros but allows selecting the macros and running them.My code is too long to go into a single procedure. I have an application that creates files at certain directories, deploys them and then removes them when neccessary. Under Windows Vista and 7, access for my program to carry out such commands are denied because UAC is blocking it.Now i am NOT using Visual Studio, i am using SharpDevelop and my project is a Windows Form. How can i prompt the user with the UAC dialogue so my application can acquire UAC elevation and carry out its tasks?I would also like to point out that everything works perfectly when UAC is either turned off or the user runs my program with Administrator Rights.

The question I have if the textboxes are blank (nothing has been entered), how do I code the Exit button to close the program without displaying the message box asking the user to save the data.' Save the numbers. Call the btnSave_Click procedure.

View 2 RepliesI recently finished an application which I spent a long time making, but when I sent it to my friends so they could beta test, everyone single one of them said it stopped responding on start up. I took the .exe out of the project>bin>debug>application.exe and thats what I gave them, and it doesn't crash for me, so i was wondering what might be causing it to crash, or if they would need extra files for it to work properly?
Also, when my friend opened it, he says he got an error that says:

I use a fontdialog box in my application allowing users to change the font details within my application. This works fine but unfortunatly I don't seem to be able to set the values in the dialogbox as they are read only.
Basically if the user has Bold Wingdings set and wishes to change it to something else then when they open up the fontdialog box I would like to be able to set the font to wingdings and bold so the user can see what they previously selected. Word seems to do this so why cant I?

I'm using the Application Updates option in Visual Studio with 'Before the Application Starts' checked.Users are complaining of canceling the update and then finding out they really want the update. When they decide they want to update there is no way for them to update the application until I publish a new version, because once they cancel the dialog box it never shows up again.
Is there a way to create a menu option to force a check for updates?

View 4 RepliesI am writing an App that automates file uploads from users desktops to a specified file server. On the first run of the app, I need the user to select a file server and save it for all other users of that PC. I thought I could do this
with application settings but it appears it is not suitable for this purpose. I need suggestions on how I can make this work.
I thought about a registry setting but the user may not have permission to edit the registry based on group policy/security settings.
I also thought about creating an XML file with the file server name that I can read from the installed project directory, but I was hoping there was a more streamlined way.

My Goal:I'm building the application for a pc in a Students Home with about 10 users. To create 10 different user accounts for windows will be annoying and crowded, because new people come in every year(or couple of months) and then old accounts have to be deleted and new ones created.
I want to build an application that accepts folderPaths or window names.Lets say user1 creates a folder with the name "Susan" that she wants to protect (her personal files/picture/work will be stored there. She opens the application, selects the folder. The application saves the folder path and her password that she enters.
If the application detects that a user is trying to open/move/delete/copy/whatever that folder, the app must pop up a password box. Correct password gives her the freedom she wants, wrong password just ignores the open/move/delete/copy/whatever command.
Is there a way that we can use that Add data source wizard that is in vs to our own apps?
