Basicly what I have is a form and it is serving as an interface to an access db. Well it has some navigation buttons on it now, but I am trying to place a navigation drop down with the db controls that drop under it when I click it.

View 1 RepliesI'm learning WPF, and NavigationWindow in particular. I want to add stuff to the window, like a status bar, a favorite bar, etc. Unfortunately when I try adding anything, I get an error.
I'm hoping there might be a way that pages can be bookmarked as someone browses between them; let the user drag pages up to a favorite bar.
Something similar with the status bar; I'd like to have page specific information on the status bar, without having to have it on each individual page.
Is this possible with a navigation window, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I ended up putting the status bar on the individual pages, so that I can more easily change what's displayed from page to page, but the tool bar behaves nicely with the frame.
I looked at "How do I place an image with a mouse-click in Javascript?" but it had a small snippet of Java; immensely larger than my knowledge of Java. And that is the closest I've come to finding an answer in the past week. Here's what I would like to do (don't know if its even possible):
I have a panel and a toolstrip with 3 buttons. Each button represents a different image. I want to click on a button (once) and then move into the panel and everytime I click the mouse button it drops the image where ever I clicked. This only ends when either I click back on the same button or one of the other buttons. I do not want to drag an image into the panel each time. In other words the button stays depressed and the event/action stays active.
I wrote a class, StyledForm that inherits from Form.
StyledForm draws a styled titlebar, ect. However, in the designer you can place a control over the titlebar (because it isn't actually the form).
In a normal form if you place a control in the same spot, the titlebar (or form edges) would draw over the control, and the control wouldn't receive input there.
I have designed a form in VB.NET. At design time I have placed two buttons on it. When I run it, the form size looks smaller and the buttons I have placed at the bottom are not visible. Also the alignment of the text and picture box is also different from what I set at design time. Computer at which I am running the form is using a different resolution.
View 2 RepliesI have a asp.net placeholder which gets populated with many custom controls, each custom control is a summary of a location containing various facts and interactions. When directly populating the placeholder with the controls they get added one under another down the page. I'm trying to find a way to place each custom control generated in a loop in its own tab (any sort of tab, asp.net/jquery ui etc) so that the user can select the summary they wish to view instead of having to scroll down the page to find it. (I'm using ASP.NET and VB.NET)

I am wanting to populate a form with check boxes and labels on starting of the app. My idea is to store to locations on the form in a database. I am creating an app that would have check boxes and labels that the user could check off to store points for completed tasks. The tasks on the form could change so I want the form to change as the tasks are changes with out re-coding the app.I am using VB 2003. I have searched but couldn't find anything.

View 5 RepliesI am using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express and making a Webform. I want to arrange my labels and drop down listboxes in a table to keep them together on the form in a neatly manner. If I use the 'ToolBox' on the side and drag a HTML table to the workspace I get a nicely formatted table with 3 rows and 3 columns. And I can drag and drop my labels/listboxes into these columns and all is fine and good.
If I use the 'ToolBox' and drag a ASP.Net table to the workspace it starts as just a boarder with '###' inside of it, which I cannot drap and drop controls into. I'm not sure how to place controls into it. I figured out that you can add the Rows - then Columns in the properties window, but that just adds more cells which have the '###' in them. I can make it work with the HTML table, but I just want to know if I can do the same with the ASP.net table.
I have installed a fresh copy of VS 2008 after formating my PC, ealier i used VS 2005 for ASP. However, when open new web project and tried to drag and drop server controls to the form but i couldn't. When i click the control and drag it to the form it shows a black stop sign on my mouse cursor.... How do i fix this?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to have either a calendar, or multiple panels representing different job duties, where the user will drag a label, or some similar object onto the panel, thus scheduling by dragging and dropping.
I've found tutorials for drag and drop in TreeViews, but I don't see how to drag a label, or any other control. I see the AllowDrop property is there, but the ItemDrag event is not.
Site is located at [URL] and the section in question is the "configurator" button on my top row navigation. Everything is written in the latest flavor of VB.NET and ASP 3.5, and I have a SQL2005 server available with my host. Here is the down 'n dirty of my dilemma:
During pageload, I get a list of all the parts in my parts table. Then I create an image object and 2 label objects per entry and place them in my fancy accordion pane control. Works great so far, I can get a giant list of pictures and text that's aligned how I like it (for now). Now - I really need a way to be able to have a visitor drag an image/label/label combo from the accordion over to a panel (or anything really) on the right side that is currently invisible. Once the dragged thing is dropped into the drop target, I would like it to fire a function or sub that I write in VB.
From what I've seen about jquery, apparently there is a way to make an element on my webpage draggable, droppable, or what have you. The example code for it - I'm not entirely understanding so a quickie sample would be great. I'm a fast learner and can apply it from there to my project. More importantly, how do I get objects that are created during runtime to be draggable, and fire my event that I wrote in the only language that I know?

I've recently started using C# after years of using VB.NETWhen using Visual Studio, using VB.NET, on the code behind files (.aspx.vb) i could select from a list of controls in my markup file (.aspx) and then select an event to automatically put into my code behind.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to make a program which uses drag & drop functionality, however, it only works when I drop something onto the form, not the controls. If I do try on the controls, I just get the 'Unavailable' cursor.
The AllowDrop property is set in the properties bar, and I also set it when the form loads.

I can drag and drop items from my desktop or wherever and apply certain properties and values to my button (ProBtn Class) but I don't know how to drag and drop between control to switch them.
Like I imagine everyone, I often have problems navigating my code because the flow can jump from place to place. For example, if my code calls routine1, and I then want to go to routine1's code, I know that I can click in the dropdown menu and it will take me to that sub. But wouldn't it be easier if I could somehow right click on the call to routine way and select something like 'take me there' which would transport me from the function making the call to the code for the function being called? Then it would be easy to hop from place to place.

I am learning Visual Basic 2010 and I am working on a space combat program for my own education and amusement (a simulation of the Honorverse space combat system). I have a routine to add ships to the enemy ship roster and then place them randomly on the viewscreen. When I step through the sub with the debugger, it works fine, but when I run it without stopping, it wants to place all the objects in the same place on the screen. It's actually assigning 2 random numbers pertaining to the size of the viewscreen and assigning those numbers to GameObjectScreenLocation through GameObjectWorldLocation.X and GameObjectWorldLocation.Y. The objects are fully initialized to 0 in their constructor, FYI. Code is below:

Is it possible to reorder the elements of a drop down list (combobox) via drag and drop?For example, when the list is dropped down, I want the user to be able to drag the items up or down to reorder them. I tried this (and some google searching) but I'm wondering if its just not possible:

It didn't disappear. I restarted visual studio, closed all open classes. It is just visual basic, when I try with c# I can hide and show it.
