I am putting ico pictures or icon's into project which i would like to know the steps to do this as well as how do you make the ico/icons bigger. When i run the project the ico images are real small and i need them bigger !! I am using picture boxes to put the ico's in. i got them there but ain't sure how or if it is the right way to do it .

I'm creating a microwave oven this weekend. I have to import an image of a microwave oven not running, running and with the door open.What size files should I be importing. I use photo shop so I can save them as bmp's or jpgs. Should they be 72dpi? or 150 dpi? I know websites are saved at 72. ? and do I import them as jpgs or bmp's if I'm using a picture box? The microwave has to run so you have to be able to push the buttons, so is a picture box the best way to go?

1) The user places a handful of image files into a given directory. Could be bmp's, jpg's, etc.
2) The images files will be saved into a 2nd "temp" directory and reduced down to a size reasonable for e mailing (ie. 200kb per file). I'm assuming they will end up as jpg's, so if they start out as bmp's they will need to be converted.If they start out as jpg's, and are just too big, they will need to be shrunk proportionately (ie. if they start out as 12 inches by 18 inches, they will end up as 6 x 9, or something like that).
I've found various bits of code on this forum (and others), but want to hear some opinions about the best way to go about it, assuming there might be as many as ten or twelve files that need to be manipulated. So should I read something into a memory stream (haven't tried that before), or create bitmap objects (seems slow?), etc.
I am retrieving Images in a Picture Box at runtime using the following code.

I wanted to add more functionality to allow user to increase the size of images that have been retrieved in the Picture Box. How to do so?
My program utilizes various images of different sizes. I want to organize these images so that they all fit into a predetermined space without resizing any of them. They need to be organized in such a way to use as much of the predetermined space as possible. I guess it would be like organizing photos in one of those old photo albums (with the translucent, mildly adhesive, peel-back plastic sheet that held the photos in place) so that you could get as many photos on a page as possible. Or you could think of it sort of like Tetris? Except all the pieces are rectangles.
I assume I would use a recursive function to loop through all the images to find out if they fit or not, then returning the best outcome? I tried searching for code samples but searching for Organizing Images or Organizing Shapes gives less than desirable results.
I am using ASP.net with VB.NET.Is there some Validator that i can use that will check the size of the uploaded image?Else what must i do in code to make sure that the user do not upload images more than 1MB?

View 2 RepliesI've written a simple program for viewing images. My issue is how someone would view these images If I deployed my project to a client. To display the images, I have an Access 2007 database with the full path written for each and the program reads the full path into the Picturebox.ImageLocation property. I've also stored the full, root, and relative paths in the database as separate fields. My issue is how to add these pictures to my project. and which project to add them to.
Do I add them to the main project with my forms?Do I add them to the installer/setup-wizard Project?Should I all the files individually or as a compressed .zip file? Additionally, I don't know how to point to these files once they're installed on a different machine/network. Do I write a different root path to the database when the program is installed somehow?
If i use custom images in my programs from my pc. After i publish this and give it to my friends they get errors due to them not having the images. How do i go about adding the images to the application or just generally how you resolve this?

View 3 RepliesNow all went well about from using the structure correctly. The working of the structure was perfect. How ever i missed Two important issues. The structure needed a fixed size of 10 items (9 in programming terms starting from 0) And also out of the 5 items allowed to be chosen as one of the member types for the structure a limit of 5 items of that particular type.

It has to deal with LOTS of images (100's potentially) There will be the set of default images, and then the user created replacement images. I started loading all the defaults into a resx file... thinking then I could just pull them out. now that I started setting the default, this sucks! lol the app will do this, on load it will set all the images (variables) to the resx images then when a theme is loaded, it will replace the default with the user image (if the user img exists) otherwise, the default stays. I was thinking to make an app to save images [or download images] to local hard disk. But to keep it easy, I want this app to create a small picturebox on form to show the thumbnail of downloaded image. Lets say a 5 pictureboxes has to be added with the thumbnails to show the recent downloads. A user can save the location where he wants to save the files on hard disk. A listbox or a dropdown menu will help in categorizing the images, like image1 in friends section, image2 in family section, image3 in others, etc... When the program restarts all the latest 5 thumbnails has to be loaded in pictureboxes and the directory that was chosen. Finally, a button that shows the downloaded images into original image file size one by one or a slide show. Is it possible to make such program?

View 10 RepliesFor reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.
View 2 RepliesWhats the font size real meaning? since when i use Arial font size 10 in the report its gonna take different space than the textbox im using (Both using exactly same font type/size/unit) its kinda if i set 10 milimiters to the font size why would the i and M for example have so diferent size.
i wish it was like in the Notepad where all the letters take the same space. what i need its to give a certain texbox(in the report) with auto grow to have always the same lines of height but its not posible to calculate it from vb b4 being inputed to the report.
How to make the form size automatic setting the size equals to the screen. or Maximize the whole form including the form components.
