Query Dataset Column For Only Rows With Text?
Sep 19, 2009
I have a dataset column that I am keeping comments in. If the row has no comment in it(defualt string value is "", not NULL), I don't want it to show up on my report. How can I fill only the datarows that have text in them and not the ones that are empty. I've tried to filter the columns results by Not Nothing, but everything shows up. I'm guessing because it's actually not NULL since the string is "". How can I filter these results correctly?

I have a dataset called Me.VelocipedeDBDataSet and there is a table within the dataset called Contact. How can i check the contact table and output the results of rows which have a value for an attribute called AccntRep that matches a global variable known as repNo
I had though that the solution may be something like
If Me.VelocipedeDBDataSet.Contact.Rows.Contains(repNo) Then
Panel3.Visible = True
MsgBox("Account Rep Found", MsgBoxStyle.OkOnly, "Account Rep")
End If
but it has not worked,

I have a Data Table Column with multiple Rows of data. I need to search all lines of TextBox1.Text for any data that is identical to any row in the specified data column ("MCaddRG"). Also any identical findings need to be made into a new text file or a new form with a text box.[code]...
*Also if it is possible I would really like to have a check box list that contains the data from the "Device" columns so I could check the "Device" and then it search the TextBox.Text for the checked "Device's" "MCaddRG"

I have three sub tables that I want to process. For each I want to combine the rows, as they are only different by contents in the second column(I want to do the same to the fourth column, later):
'Sub table 1
xx|C201 |02300877 |Samsung |....
xx|C201 |02300877 |Toshiba |....
xx|C213 |02300877 |Samsung
[code]....
p.s. For the fourth column, Manufacturer information , I want to do the same and I'd probably get something like this for the final table:
xx| C201,C213,C606,C619 |02300877 | Samsung
xx| C201,C213,C606,C619 |02300877 | Toshiba
xx| C303, C305,C712 |02301163
xx| C207, C209, C708 |02301165

I am connecting to an Access database and using a parameter query with the LIKE operator to return all rows that match query. The string to search for is taken from a Textbox
sql =
"Select * FROM Allview WHERE Info Like" &
"*" &
CStr(TextBox1.Text) &
"*"
The query does not return any data in vb, but when run from access with same string, there is data returned. The connection to the database is done correctly, as I am able to return data with various other queries.
Partial code :
Dim
con As
New OleDb.OleDbConnection[code]....

I have a DataSet that contains 1 DataTable, and the DataTable contains only 1 row of data. I want to loop through all columns in that row and say:
Column name = column value
so for example if the column name is FAVORITE_FOOD and the value is pizza, I should display FAVORITE_FOOD = pizza I can get the column name from column.ColumnName and the value from Rows(0).Item(0), but for the life of me I can't put it all together in a simple loop.

I'm writing a help application for the Customer support team at my company to help agents ask better questions when customers report problems. In it, I've got a SQL database that contains all the products, topics, and questions. The layout is similar to the following:
Products Table:
Product_ID Product Name:
Topics Table:
Topic_ID Product_ID Topic
[code]....
I don't know if I'm making myself clear, but I basically need to do the equivalent to the following SQL statement: "SELECT PRODUCT_ID FROM Products WHERE PRODUCT_Name = LstProducts.SelectedValue"

I have two text files, the first text file has two columns separated by a space (" ") and the second text file only has one column.
The column 1 in text file 1 and text file 2 match albeit in different order, what I'm trying to achieve is for every field in column 1 text file 2 I want to search for column 1 in text file 1 and display the matching column 2 field in column 2 text file 2.
Dim*OpenTextFile*As*String*= IO.Path.Combine("C:Test1.txt")
Dim*OpenTextFile2*As*String*= IO.Path.Combine("C:Test2.txt")
Dim*SaveTextFile*As*String*= IO.Path.Combine("C:Test2.txt")

I have a parent/child relation I am trying to create fow 2 datasets. The parent ds consusts of a range of PO Header information
After I fill this dataset I loop through it getting the PO number. I then take that value and execute another sql statement on the DETAIL file and fill a dataset(dtlDS) for EACH row in the parent. How do I add to this dtlDS for each row? I am getting no CHILD data in the merge. Should I be filling to a datatable and do an add.row and THEN dump into the dtlDS?

I have a model that returns a dataset to a view and builds a list. The crazy thing is that I have tested this code with IE, Safari on Mac and Windows, Chrome and Opera and all return data. However, on the iPad or iPhone, zero rows are returned from the dataset object. It seems that the model is in fact passing the dataset to the view. I am using jquerymobile to render the view for the iOS devices and have taken that out of the mix to test and it still doesn't work.

Case cboQty.SelectedItem = 3

I am new to vb.net and I am trying to query a database and print out the records in the row to the console window. I got it to work, but I have a feeling that there is a more concise way to do this. One thing that I am sure is wrong is that I had to convert the dataset to a datatable to be able to retrieve the values. Is that correct? Could you take a look at the code below (especially the for loop) and let me know what I can improve upon?

My Application uses For...Next loops to read a spreadsheet into a DataSet and then display information from it based on the results of search conditions (search term and a date range).I'm having a problem with the data where, if I run a search that should return the first 400 rows in the spreadsheet, I'm only getting around 200 results. I know the search should return the 400 rows because I checked it in the spreadsheet before running the search.I think my problem might be caused by my date comparisons. I think the problem might be that I'm comparing String valueHere's my code:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
If ListBox1.Items.Count <> 0 Then : ListBox1.Items.Clear() : End If

I have a form with the datagridweiw object. I have connected it to the datasource and it displays the data fine. I also have set the persissions for editing. I am assuming i need a button for accepting changes to table and a button to cancel. My use for the form is to add or delete rows of data and save the changes. The database and application are both in visual basic and sql server express both 2008.

I have used VB6 for all kinds of database programming. Now I am fairly new to the vb.net. How do we read the records (rows) from a dataset and manipulate data? I want to populate a combobox or a datagrid with a recordset (in VB6 language). What is the .net equivalent of ado dataset, and how do I use it. I have tried several ways using dataadapters and dataset, etc.

I am trying to retrieve row data from a table in a dataset (dataset name is PatientsDataSet and table name is tblfacilitiesnames).
I am using VB 2008 but the code I entered is from a VB2005 sample so something must have changed in the format.
I am already connected to the database since it opens the connection when the program is run.
Here is the code:

Dim Str1 As String
Dim FacRow As PatientsDataSet.tblFacilitiesNamesRow

I have a question similar to this one, but reading the (accepted) answer didn't give me much insight, so I'm hoping to state it more clearly and get a clearer response back.
I'm attempting to insert a data row into a table. I'm using TableAdapter's custom "insert nonQuery" that I wrote (it works, I tested) to accept some parameters. I'm fairly new to this business of communication with a database via .NET and what I'm doing is probably wrong by design. My questions are why is it wrong and what's the right way to do it? Both are equally important, IMO.[code]...
