Therefore, if I have a querystring key and cookie key which are the same, which value is returned?

Apr 12, 2009I have a webpage (OrdersAdmin.aspx) which has various buttons that call the relevant stored procedures and display the results on a grid on the same page. In the grid is a button for each row that when clicked would add a parameter to the querystring, and loads the page. So clicking say first item in the grid would load the OrderAdmin.aspx?OrderID=1. In the page load event it checks to see if there is a OrderID parameter present in the querystring, and if so additional user control is loaded and displayed. The problem is that when I click one of the various buttons again to call the stored procedure this second control that is visible based on presence of OrderID should no longer be displayed.

Jan 30, 2012I'm trying to create a querystring so when a user switches languages, the URL changes to ?lang=NL, for example. I have this in the code behind on homepage.master (VB, NOT C#):

Visual Studio underlines it in blue. When I hover over the left side of the statement, it says "Property Value Must Assign to the property or use its value" When I hover over the right side of the erred statement, it says, "End of Statement Expected".I'm not sure if the code I was given is C#, but when I use the Teleflex translator to check, it says "EOF Expected" and won't translate. All of this is tied into 3 classes I created, BasePage.vb, Culture.vb, and Global.vb. But I think it's just this line that's screwing everything up.

Dec 25, 2010I have no experience on this matter, so I do not expect anyone to explain in details how this is done, just point me in the right direction, maybe tell me what the correct name for this is. I'm sure it is pretty commonly in use.
I think the best way to explain this, is through my exact need. So, I have a button on my website that should cause the user to download an exe file. The exe file pretty much gathers a few informations from the users PC, and post them to my data-base through a web-service. Now my problem is, these informations should be assigned to the user who downloaded the exe file's row in the DataBase.All this would be solved by assigning a single Integer value(the users ID) to this exe file on the download request, and then a way for the exe file to also get this value assigned to it, but how do I do that?
My language is asp.net for my website, and the exe file is written in vb.net.I know I could fake this by making the exe file show a login-form and get the user-id this way, but I really like the application run without the user noticing to much.

the problem is that "distinguishedName" returns "DC=our-domain,DC=co,DC=uk" and "name" returns just "our-domain", not the name of the user that has just been auth'ed
Note: the displayName.text outputs are purely for debug purposes.I have tried various combos of requests but nothing seems to return USER details. ETA: to the security police: this is all within a https connection, I'm not sending passwords about in plain text!
VS 2010 - Request User Date Of Birth And Display Day Of Week
Feb 2, 2011I am in a VB 2010 class right now, and I'm suppose to write a program that requests the user's date of birth and then display the day of the week (such as Sunday, Monday, ect...) on which day they will have or had their 21st. Birthday.
I already have the GUI made up with a MaskedTextBox set to simple date and it is named = mtbDayOfBirth
I also have the button already to calculate this, and a read only text box named = txtBox2.
My code so far is:

The user should be instructed to enter -1 after all the positive numbers have been supplied. At that time, the program should display the sum of the numbers." So far I know this much

Now I know this isn't right But I can't find out how I'd pull out the numbers the user entered to get the sum of them and not include -1 because as it stands, when I hit ENTER with -1 the label just shows -1.

My code works perfectly on my development machine, but there is a slight problem on the live server.If you browse to the admin subfolder, if you are not authenticated, you will be redirected to the login page. The Master Page footer also contains a link to the login page; when the user logs in, that link is supposed to change to a link to the admin page:

This works fine on my dev PC, but on the live server, IsAuthenticated() returns False, and thus the Login link is not replaced by the Admin link. However, if browse to the admin subfolder, I can access the content fine; there is no redirection to the login page.
Asp.net - Abandon Session If User X's Out Of Browser?
Sep 27, 2009Is there a way to do a Session.Abandon() when the user just kills the session by X'ing out with the little red X box in the upper right corner? I am seeing situations where after an "X out", the user comes back in and it seems like session variables are still present? I guess explorer keeps them intact? (I am unsure of this).
