Way For User To Close Web Browser Control / Can Capture Final Url
Oct 29, 2009
I want to give my end user the abilility to navigate to a web page, and then I need a way for the user to close the web browser control so that I can capture the final url. There must be a way but the obvious candidate (a property named "url" of the web browser control) is not there.

I have several UserControls in an ASP:Repeater. They are 'Add to basket' User Controls with a text input for quantity and a button to add the item to the basket.
My problem is the value is being reset to 1 whenever I enter a value into the quantity text box. I think this is happening because the containing page reinitialised the repeater (which holds the UserControls) and the quantity is one again before the UserControl's click event is fired.
how to capture the value in the textbox before the Postback occurs, I am happy to stick this data in a session for now.
I am thinking I need something along the lines of PreLoad? But that didn't work for me

I have a custom control with an event handler when you click on it. Everything works and the event get fired right.
AddHandler (cu.MouseLeftButtonDown), AddressOf Me.DoSomething
When the control resizes to show some extra information it expands. It also collapses when the user preses a button. This works alright. But now when I click where the expanded area used to be, it still fires mouse leftbuttondown on that control. I have tried to set IsHitTestVisible to false on the expanded element but it diden't work. Here's some xaml...
<UserControl x:Class="MyCustomControl">
<StackPanel>
<Grid>
[code]....
I cant use another element around my customcontrol since I also use this MouseLeftButtonDown on all different kind of controls.
I can't figure out how the boundaries on the cu.MouseLeftButtonDown event work to fix this.

I am trying to use the Web Browser control in my vb .net user control. I am using VS 2008. Finally, I will be calling my assembly (.dll) from a web page. I wanted to display the usercontrol with the web browser control inside this web page. The problem is I cannot proceed since the Web browser control cannot be called from a partially trusted assembly. Using VS 2008 I have created a strong name for my class, also added the <Assembly: AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers()> to the AssemblyInfo. But still the web browser control cannot be seen in my web page. Do you how I can make my assembly fully trusted so that it can access web browser control? If you have used web browser control, can you confirm if this step is really required?!

something I just noticed which is work-aroundable but a little annoying. We have a user control which has several properties. These have not had the <Browsable(True)> Attribute applied. However, when we drop the control onto a form the properties are appearing in the property list

What is the correct way to handle saving user control settings on form close. I have a tabcontrol that a user can add tabpages during runtime. The user control has a few controls (listbox,combobox,textbox) How can I save the created tabpages and the data in each control in the usercontrol? Below is how I am calling my usercontrol
Code
Public Class TabPageEx
Inherits System.Windows.Forms.TabPage
[code]....
I seem to be a little lost as most documentation seems to suggest that I can not save usercontrol settings in the app.config. I have played around with the solution expl. settings tab without much success. But, then again I may be going about it all wrong. So, I am looking for a little direction on the best way to handle this on form close.

The specific features I want to produce is it doesn't place on the form, it places in the little box at the bottom and when CustomUserControl.Show() is called it shows as a dialog boxI'm sorry if I misspelled something or my grammar is wrong, I've never done well in those subjects.

I have a set of tools that I've built as a class library that is hosted/referenced within a main application (ESRI's ArcMap). I'd like to manage the case where a user may pull the pin on the main application while they have unsaved/unmanaged edits pending. I tried handling the Application.ThreadExit event w/ no success. Is there a best practice for accessing the closure of a hosting application in .Net?

I am having a Web Page that looks like:
<%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" MasterPageFile = "~/Master11.master" CodeBehind="test7.aspx.vb" Inherits="MyApp.test7" %>
<%@ MasterType TypeName = "ASP.sample_template_master" %>
<asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="mainContent1" runat="server">
</asp:Content>
When the user closes the browser, I want to display a confirm box if the user wants to save before exit.
If he says yes, then I wish to save the information in database and close the browser else I just close the browser.
I read msdn forums but all I found was window closing event which I was not able to apply here.

1. I'm not sure if this goes here or on the ASP board, as it's a hybrid of both. If this is the wrong place I apologize in advance.
2. It's my understanding that this isn't a problem in IE7, but my company is on IE6 with no current plans to upgrade.
So I have some code running client-side via 3rd party software. It opens an IE window and shoots a request to a server-side ASP page like this[code]...
I've tried using Javascript to close the browser, but I can't reset the ContentType. I tried CloseMainWindow after I call the ASP page, but that threw all sorts of errors. I imagine I could use a timer but the process varies from a few seconds to five minutes.

How to capture when a user switched application windows. Basically what i want to do is for example is when EVER a user works inside Microsoft Word i want the CAP lock to be turned on. When they leave Microsoft word's app window and select a new app the CAPS button would turn off. Then when they return back to Word caps turns back on. I have code I found in another post on how to turn CAPS on, now i just don't now how to automatically capture application switches running all the time. My idea is to create a small app that can be minimized to the system tray then let it run and capture all thE app changes.

I have an aspx page that has two different user controls. I want to find user control A and be able to set properties, etc., from user control B.
I was thinking I could do something like this:
Dim CMFilters As Control = Me.Parent.FindControl("CMFilters")
...but that doesnt work to be able to set properties and call methods. I somehow need to get the user control and and declare it as that user control type.

Currently I have the start-key for my vb.net application hardcoded like this:
GetAsyncKeyState(Keys.F2)
Where vb.net sais "F2 As System.Windows.Forms.Keys = 113" on mouse-over.But I want my users to be able to pick their own Key. If I make a drop-down box (combobox) and pre-define some choices in there (Like ESC or F3), all those choices are strings. How can I convert those strings to a System.Windows.Forms.Keys integer? Also, I'd like it to also be possible to "capture" a single keypress. So they'd click the "capture" button, and the next key they hit will be saved as the start/stop button. But I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for that one.

I want to capture the image of my webbrowser, or actually just a part of it.I already achieved it, but it just takes a screenshot of it instead of capturing the bitmap itself. So when i use this technique and you drag another window above it, the window is also captured. (this is what I don't want.)
My code:
' 1. Get the WebBrowsers bitmap.
Dim bmp As New Bitmap(WebBrowser1.Width, WebBrowser1.Height)
Dim BMPEndResult As Bitmap
Dim graph As Graphics = Graphics.FromImage(bmp)
[code]....
So I need to get the image of the webbrowser:
- without the scrollbars if possible
- Even if the window is minimized or in the task bar
- Full webbrowser
- and also if possible just a part of it, where I can specify the top, left, width and height
