Saving Datagrid Edits To The Database?

I'm creating an admin application that will allow specific users to manage users login credentials for an application. On a form I have a datagrid that is populated by selecting * from Operator table on the DB. I want the admin users to be able to add, edit and delete records from the datagrid and i have enabled these properties on the grid but any changes need to be confirmed by clicking a 'Saves Changes' button. Here's the code behind this button:

I have added a new record but when I save these changes I am getting this error: "02/12/2011 11:43:56,frmOperator,btnSave_Click,5,Dynamic SQL generation for the UpdateCommand is not supported against a SelectCommand that does not return any key column information."

ive added a datagrid view to my form and ive also linked it to a database which displays the details i need. but what if i want to delete any rows(records) from the datagrid or edit. i need it to also change in the database. whats the coding? ive tried n tried but cant seem to get the code. its vb.net 2005

Basically I have a DataGrid on a form that is used to monitor attendance. I do this by making the data types for the relevant fields boolean so that at runtime, they appear as check boxes that the user can tick. If the user ticks this then the table in MySQL saves this as a 1, or if it is left unticked the table saves it as a 0. I then use those values in a mathematical equation to calculate weekly attendance.
My problem, however, is with saving changes to the table itself. Initially I set a primary key which was fine and allowed me to save. However I needed to turn that primary key to a foreign key and when I do that, I am told that I need a primary key. Now I got round that before when I was entering data into a text box and in my SQL query I'd simply put as my value being " & (name of textbox).Text & " but when I am entering data straight onto the datagrid, I am unsure of what to put in my SQL statement.

My friend from college told me it's probably because there are multiple records in the database and can't distinguish between the two (as perhaps there's no WHERE clause in that UpdateCommand) but I doubt it as it was working perfectly well with multiple records when StudentID was a primary key.

I have a form that shows users data from a sql query. What I want to be able to do is when users make a change, they press a save button, the edited/changed data is saved to a new table and then the window is closed. I've looked for several tutorials for this. Can anyone give me an example of a good tutorial or a code example?My database that the user would be saving to is called exceptionsedit.

i have been using to save any changes to the datagrid to the database which had the name statically assigned like this [code]I then decided to allow the vb program to access any .mdb file dynamically by using and open file dialog which all works fine except for my save button which again has all of the field name set statically like Record,[code]can anyone suggest a replacement for the code that would solve my problem i have also attached a screenshot with the original database or statically defined database opened can anyone suggest code that will do what the above code does dynamically so it can open many database files.

What I am trying to do basically is open an access query in a datagrid view and then be able to make changes to the datagrid and then save it back to the database.When I try to save:

It says that update is not a member of the tableadapter... Why is that?

Using VS2005. The code below saves a datagrid (datagridview1) to XML file and works well. But if newPat is true then I want to save the extra data in the XML file as well. But it doesn't work for some reason. When newPat is true it just saves the XML file as normal but without the extra row.
It seems this code is not working what so ever. I tried replacing
dr("patientName") = gridrow.Cells("patientName").Value
with
dr("patientName") = "test"
And it didn't work, it still saved the names that were in the grid.

I have an Access DB that lists customer details in a datagrid and in textboxes, when I use the edit button I can edit in the textboxes and when I click save the record is saved and shows in the datagrid. But when I exit the program I get "Syntax error in update command" Im not sure why because there are no errors in the error pane at the bottom

how to make a program save, open, or create new but now I have some other add-ons I want to add.I am not sure I can do this but how can I set default files like Text documents to open when I double click one without the error message saying that it's not a valid Win32 program? Also how can I make multiple fonts on a document? Same with color so I can bold some parts and not all, and making the program open itself when I click new for another copy without losing work and when you click close and there is unsaved data it asks if you want to save it. I have a form that has a checkbox value for field 4. What I'd like a user to do is to be able to check that checkbox and when they fire the holidaysavebutton event, that my code will look for any of the checkboxes that are checked and save that line of data to my database. As the code stands now, I am able to get the first line to do this, but none of the lines after will save the data.

I have a form with the datagridweiw object. I have connected it to the datasource and it displays the data fine. I also have set the persissions for editing. I am assuming i need a button for accepting changes to table and a button to cancel. My use for the form is to add or delete rows of data and save the changes. The database and application are both in visual basic and sql server express both 2008.

Inside the program I have a text box in which a user puts in the filepath to a textfile that the program then uses as a series of commands to perform tasks. This works perfectly, however what I would like to to do to make my program faster is associate the file extension .gam with the program, so when a user clicks a .gam file it opens the program and automatically sets said file's location into the text field, as opposed to using the browse button I added and browsing to said file everytime they run the program.
Through this a user could then make a shortcut to said .gam file and run it right from their desktop, as opposed to rummaging around in folders and whatnot. At the moment my method has been thus, I have 2 folders of importance I have archived with the .exe, Gambits Pro.exe, these are: Gambits, and Control, inside of the Gambits folder is the default storage location for .gam files, as when you click the browse button its default directory is that folder. I have also added a few example files in said folder for a user when they download the program.

Friends I have Developed my Data base Project on vb6, using adodc and datagrid using ms access database file, it was working nice in vb6, I also put Search box there and used adodc1.recordsource="select * from table" sql query.
later i needed to convert it in vb.net I converted it, every thing is working fine, but one problem appears, an adodc's Recordsource query for searching records is not working, it only works if there is data in dataset (Datagrid),suppose once i pressed search button to search record and if no record found then dataset / datagrid becomes empty, now i wanted to search an other record with other name, but this time it does not work and following error appears Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.

I'm afraid this is a very simple question, but I can't figure it out... I hardly ever use the DataGridView (usually use a third party grid) so I never needed to do this before.Anyway, I have a DataGridView that is data-bound to a List(Of SomeClass). The grid is not ReadOnly, but I made every column ReadOnly except the very first, which is a boolean column so it displays a checkbox. This way, the user cannot edit any cell value, but he can check/uncheck the checkbox in the first column.
What I need now basically is an event that is raised when the user (not programmatically) changes the value of this checkbox. I also need to be able to retrieve the bound item from that event (from the row number I think?) but that should be no problem, I hope.Anyway, there's a bunch of events that looked promising but all have something I don't want:
1. CellBeginEdit - Fires before the checkbox value has changed, so can't use this.
2. CellEndEdit - Only fires after the edited row loses focus. I want to save it back to the database as soon as the user changes the checkbox value!
3. CellValueChanged - Same problem as nr 2.
I'm sure it must be possible for me to react as soon as the user changes the value of the checkbox? How can I do this?

I have managed to create a connection to the database and am able to save information to it from my form, the form contains 22 textboxes, a save and another exit button. I have set the form to retrieve data in the form_load. I have used the "UPDATE" SQL command on the save button and it does save the data on all 22 textboxes (all textboxes are linked to their separate columns). But only one record will be needed that is why I did not use the "INSERT" command.
The problem arises when I click the save button, all (19) textboxes are saved but when I retrieve the text (by reloading the form), each of the 20, 21, 22 textboxes (only) the text of the 20th textbox keeps on moving tho the next textbox e.g. 20>21>22>20>21>22 is interchanged amongst themselves.

I'm working on a project which are generating some data from my VB.NET software and I wish to save those data into sql server. But my concerns is the speed of saving and the large amount of data. For every 0.5s, one set of data will be generated and the process will keep running for about 8 hours, so at the end of 8 hours, roughly there will be 60,000 set of data generated.May i know what is the best option/method of saving the data into the sql server in not hanging up my software and also keeping the pace with the speed of 0.5s data being generated?
- Speed of 0.5s. I have to maintained for every 0.5s, one data must be generated. Cannot delay too much.
- I can afford delay in the sql database, meant the data might not be necessary close to real time.

I created a database in access 2007, linked it to my project in visual studio 2008 (vb). When I enter some data using the UI, it does not save it in the database, and it's gone as soon as I run the program again. I dragged the textboxes from the datasource panel, onto the UI..
