I think my question is a little more complicated than I can fit in the title. Say I have a data class for contacts:

I have a List(Of Contact) object with several different contacts. How would I search the List for the contents of one of the properties and return the resulting Contact object?
I am trying to find way to design a report using my own custom class. I found links:

They were quite helpful, but I have been stuck in the first step while designing report as my custom class's property is not listed in field list of crystal report design view.[code]When I add my class objects to crystal report I do not get the usertype field from users class in field list.So how can I add usertype field to my field list? Or do I have to take another approach?The reason i wanted to use it as i am:
1.) Showing a form where user can type keyword
2.) program filters the records as per keyword using LINQ
3.) when user clicks the print button, I want to set the filtered records as datasource of my report

View 6 RepliesI'm trying to copy the elements from a List(Of Frequency) where Frequency is a custom class I have made. Everything in the other places seems alright but the problem seems to be with the copying, where it still references the original table, so changing the values of one changes the original. I've tried the List.CopyTo() method and tried converting to and array with List.ToArray and then using Array.Copy but it seems they always change the original. I've also tried a for loop and create and New instance of the classes but that doesn't work either. What I'm using it for is to pass the List(Of Frequency) to a new Task to do multitasking(), if anyone can think of a better method to pass a List(Of Frequency), or an array to to a task and have it not change the original.

So after this request is accomplished I have, on the webservice side a series of Name,Type Pairs that I need to serialize and send back to my client. I'm using this code to search a msacces db and display the data in a listview.The Search is fired after the text_changed event of a textbox. So each character is a search and also each backspace(here's where the real pain is) it will search. When I use backspace its very very slow! When I use 100 or even a 1000 records no problem but this db has 10.000 + records.Whitch event can I use to solve this problem or how can I adjust the code for faster search? ALs o when I test on a windows7 system, dualcore, 2gb memory, when I press a key it will take time before I see the character in the textboxs? Its a new system and only runs this program.I use a texbox to enter for example an artist name and a combobox where the user can choose to search on artis, title, genre etc. [code]

I need a name property because I am adding all of my rectangles to a collection and I need a little more info stored than just their locale and size. View 2 RepliesWhat I've done is create a User Control Library (Project) and I've added a single User Control to that project. The control contains a single FlowLayoutPanel, and I created a Property on the control itself to pass the FlowDirection from the Control to its FlowLayoutPanel child.
Build, reference, component appears in the Toolbox and everything works fine, but the property on the control does not appear in the Properties window when I go to edit it at design time.
