when the form loads, there is a table and i use code to set the row count to a variable from a previous page. this works fine. the problem i am having is that i cant get the row height sizes to be evenly spaced, there is 1 huge row then heaps of tiny ones.

This part works perfectly apart from the fact when a user goes to click a button on the page they have gone to back to, I get the error that Request.QueryString is not supported in this context.I'm guessing the Request object is lost when javascript is directing the user to the previous page.I cannot use Request.UrlReffer either because the the nature of the back button. the code below is for creating controls at runtiem, but i have realised even tho i remove the controls and then add controls, they are keeping their settings and more so the Data, eg the checked list boxes are keeping their data so if i do some work with 1 of the 3 pannels then when i change the pannel im working on it still has its lists, how would i go about using a 'frest template' as in a clear all previous settings just so their isn't any possable errors.

I want to access a page variable from a user control placed on that page. All the solutions work in C# via casting to the page class. The problem is that this doesn't work in VB. The page class is not selectable from the Intellisense dialog. Manual typing results in the error type not defined. It is strange that C# can do this without a problem. What is the proper solution for this in VB? I had other cases where I needed to access a control on the main page. C# again uses a cast to the page class to access the control. This doesn't work in VB again. So how can I access the page class from a user control in generell?

So, if someone enters:[URL]...Even though that page doesn't exist, the application pulls up default.aspx
Now, if this wasn't using a wildcard it would be easy to pull this value in on default.aspx like so:

But this doesn't seem to work with wildcards, e.g.:Dim prospect as String = Page.RouteData.Values("*value")
How can I get the page to pick up these variable values? e.g. one time might be janedoe, another johndoe, another goose, another 12345, etc. Whatever it is, I want it to be returned into the string prospect.

View 2 RepliesI have a search page with a couple of pulldowns. Dependig on the values of them I show a grid matching the searched criteria, basically a table with links the user can navigate to. My problem comes when the user wants to navigate back. At the moment I have a "Back" button which simply redirects the user to the initial search page. I think it would be a good improvement to have the values of the pulldowns filled in with the values the user selected, this way when he presses the "Back" button he would not have to restart the whole search process again.

View 22 RepliesI'm helping the IT department at my school do an audit of all our printers (there are hundreds). They are all networked, so I wrote a vb.net program that sends PJL (printer job language) commands over port 9100 to all the printers to retrieve the page count. @PJL INFO PAGECOUNT actually gets the page count for all the printers, but for color printers we also need to know the color / mono page counts (number of color pages printed, number of black and white pages printed).... the number being returned by the PAGECOUNT command right now seems to be the total pagecount on color printers, so if I can find a command that will give me either the mono or color page count, I'll have the other number. I also need the serial number of every machine (the spreadsheet I'm working off of is unreliable). @PJL INQUIRE SERIALNUMBER actually returns the serial number for about half of the HP printers, and some random non-HP ones, but I can't figure out a way to get the serial number for the other 50%. I sent emails to some of the people who wrote the articles about PJL I was following, and they advised I try using printer spooler functions (from my brief google search it would appear these are windows API's that facilitate communication with a printer).
Does anyone have any experience with working with the Printer Spooler functions or know a PJL command I might have overlooked that will help me get any of the info I'm looking for?here is my program right now. Ignore GetSerialNumber2 and GetSerialNumber3... they don't work (well actually GetSerialNumber2 works on 5 printers... but yea). GetSerialNumber() is the one that gets the serial number successfully for about half of the printers. (edit: I took out those functions in the version I posted, along with some other stuff that wasn't needed for this, to fit the post size limit)
