View 4 RepliesSo I created a table and one of the columns is is called currencydate, and has a datetime data type. Within my vb scripts, i've taken a filename and extracted the date components from it. an example filename is WER22402.10. The part in bold is the date meaning 24th February 2010.
I use the following function to extract the date values and convert it to a date type.

I'm trying to create an auction site using asp.net. My auction's start date & time and end date & time are stored in my sql server 2008 r2 database as datetime types. I'm using vb.net. I'm trying to create a select statement in which I can query the date and time portion relative to the current date and time (so as to only display current ongoing auctions). I can successfully query the date portion using the Date.Now function, but the time is giving me a hassle. DateAndTime.Now doesn't work. Im trying to retrieve some rows from sql server having datetime column that matches the given value of the textbox in a form. The tables datetime column name is "DepDateDepositDate" and the textbox.text was formatted as longdate eg("Tuesday, April 06, 2010") I have this code below but it seems its not retrieving the data that i wanted.

In VB.net code, I create requests with SQL parameters. It I set a DateTime parameter to the value DateTime.Now, what will my request look like ?

or
UPDATE table SET date = GEtDATE();
In the first case I'm sure that every record will be set to the exact same time. In the second case it depends on how the DBMS processes the request. Which leads me to the second question : does SQL Server set the same date and time when updating a large table with NOW() ?
EDIT : replaced NOW() (which doesn't exist in SQl Server) by GETDATE().

When the form loads, the timer starts ticking. As soon as the current DateTime matches the value of the variable, it shows a message in the label. When I'm writing the following code, the values don't match even if the current system DateTime is equal to the variable. Label1 isn't showing 'Times Matched':[code]The default format of 'Now' is the same as I have stored in dtmVar variable. So there's no question of format mismatch. Does that mean 'Now' is not actually a DateTime property? Provided, my O.S. is Windows Vista Ultimate and all date/time settings are set to default.

my application reads from an .xls file I put on google sites. The problem comes when the application modifies a cell and tryes to save the file on the site, actually it does nothing since to read something from the site is easy, while trying to save something requires a connection with username and password.
So, how can I pass the username and the password to the application? and even most important,can I encrypt it so that the person who uses my application could not see the real trafic details with a http sniffer?Right now I am using this code:

I make changes on my program very often so after I change something in application I have to go from PC to PC and copy paste new .exe file or .dll. I have more than 100 pc. I was thinking on this way but I do not know how I can make it; I want run application in the server, if got any update files server should update to rest of the pc which are online. I've created a two button: Import Data (this button is used to import my table from access database then display it to my datagrid) and Update button (this button is used to save/update my sql server through datagridview). When i clicked the Import Data button, it successfully import my table from access in my datagrid but the problem is, when i clicked the Update Data button an error message occur. I found the error in this code (da.UpdateCommand = cmb.GetUpdateCommand) saying "Dynamic SQL generation for the UpdateCommand is not supported against a SelectCommand that does not return any key column information"
