Sql - Update Data That Has Its Primary Key Generated Automatically?

The primary key of the table is generated automatically using the Is Identity and I want to update based on the primary key. There is certainly something wrong with the following code, so I'd like someone to modify it for me.

My database's layout is as follows:
Identification (Parent table)
ID# (Primary Key, auto increase)
First Name

I am placing this three tables in three tabs by a tabcontrol. If I put two child tables in dataGridView in their tab, the insert(new record)/update to the tables works very well. When I put the child tables in details View, I can't get a new record updated. The problem with details view is that there is no AddressID and VehiclesID generated. In dataGridView, these IDs are automatically generated whenever a mouse enters into a cell in a row.

I would like someone to modify the following code to save data to generate the primary key for each record automatically. In the database,the ID column is the primary key and the Is Identity is set Yes.

This is my first post. I have just started some serious .NET programming. Can anyone help me understand what is a good, industry standard in developing the VB.NET or ASP.NET applications? Should we use the Automatically generated code by the VStudio or we should be coding manually i.e. handling the datasets, populating the controls etc instead of using the automatic generated code using wizards.

In the early generations of VB.NET visual studio, I used to see an automatically generated region named "Windows Form Designer generated code" that includes the code that generates the controls at the surface of a form. But what happened with VS 2008, I can't see that region any more ? Where are the lines of code that are automatically generated that create controls and set there properties ????? Firstly I apologize as my question may seems repeated to you. But I am sure the details will not. I am writing a VBScript in VB.Net to automate some operation in SAP. The script is recorded from SAP. All I need to do is to put this script under a button click event on vb.net. I have done this far. But get stuck at one point. While doing the execution of the script, SAP displays a Message Box with two button labeled "Redetermine" & "Cancel" and I have to Click on "Redetermine" button to make the script run further.
The number of appearance of this message box is not fixed. Some times it appears twice and some times more than twice. My question is "How can I detect the Message Box from my VB.Net application and automatically click on the "Redetermine" button if the message box appears"?

I have two similar databases and i want to update a table of one database from the other, so insert new records, delete records that are not in the source and update different values.I use the dataadapter update method but it not recognize the primary key, so it only work when the destination table is empty. Otherwise i have an exception of duplicate primary key.The databases are sqlite but i tried with access too with the same error (different message due to different provider but the two times saying that cant insert because the primary key is duplicate).

I am using ADO.NET Datasets in my VB Applications. I have a typed dataset with one Parent table and many child tables. I want to generate Identity Key when I insert data into Parent Table and then update the data in all child tables with the Same key (As Foregin key).At last, I want to update the dataset in Database(SQL Server08).Well, the above thing can be possible by first inserting Parent Table in Database directly, get the Identity column and than use to for Child tables.

I want to be able to get some data from my database table, given the value of the primary key. This is what I have so far:
projectName = DbDataSet.Projects.FindByid(projectId).name
where projectName is a String, and DbDataSet is my dataset. The variable projectId is the ID of the row I want to extract the data from, but every time I run my code I get a NullReferenceException.
I know that the row with the primary key value of projectId exists because I can see it when I view through server explorer.

I've got a class that closely resembles one of my entities (I use the class for JSON de/serialization because the entity fails conversion to JSON, one of the known gotchyas of JSON + MVC).Once I deserilize a JSON string into my object, is there a way to automatically update the associated Entity model instance. The property names are the same.

I have a standard DataGridView. One of the columns is a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn. When I select one of the ComboBox items, I want to trap the change and add additional columns based on the item selected in the ComboBox. I've tried using CellValueChanged for the DataGridView column, and a bunch of other events, but none of them is fired when the DataGridViewComboBox value is changed. What event can I trap to make this happen? Right now as I said, I am using CellValueChanged, but of course the event doesn't fire until I click on another cell...

I'm trying to design a small program for my home server that automatically updates an HTML page every time a new file is added to a certain directory.Example, say I already have 100 files in "C:Folder", and on the HTML page, all those files are listed in a table, and when you click on one of them, the file opens, say I add a new file to the folder, I want the program to automatically add that file to the list of other files, and put *NEW* next to it (newfile.txt *NEW*), and I would like it to say *NEW* for 5 days, so how would I go about making a program that does all that?

I am new at asp.net, so I would be glad, if anybody could help me in this case... I scanned already the internet for answers, unfortunately with no success..I have a grid view, and this is loaded by a sql data table, this table has 2 keys (RezeptNr and Zutatnr). When I wanna update a row in the data grid, the RowUpdating event fires, so I need to read the Basket Session, what has the complete object stored. I put this in a DataTable (dt1), so far so good..The problem is line: Dim dr As System.Data.DataRow = dt1.Rows.Find(id) Here the compiler alerts, that I have two keys, and he cannot select the data sentence with the find method. I tried it with datatable.select command, that works, but then I have the data sentence in an array, but I need to update the data row of the data table.

I am trying to build a self-updating .NET application that will run in an environment with limited user accounts. No admin rights here. The application must run on Vista and XP, and probably Win 7 when it comes out.An X-copy deployment would be fine. I would prefer NOT to use click-once.So far I have tried a system where the application checks a manifest and downloads updated binaries, which worked great in development, but not so much when the app was installed.Vista refuses to to let me copy files to Program Files. After that, I tried downloading an updated .msi, which works except that the MSI has a UAC prompt -- no go if the user does not have an account with local admin privileges.
running the program in AppData and using the x-copy method might work, but I have not seen anyone say that they have tried it and it did work. Will that work for an account without admin rights? Can anyone vouch for this method before I start writing more code?

I have develop a software which can run in different machine and when any update is available then it automatically update all the software dll and exe along with own.
In my software package, I have a Soft_updater.exe which run when update is available but in this case Soft_updater.exe runs and wants to update along with other update.In XP and windows 2003 server it runs perfectly but windows 7 and windows 2008 server it can not run. It's stop in process mode and wants an administrator permission so that it can update itself and along with all.My process have also "runas" administrator right.
I have change user account control settings as in Never notify me and give the software folder along with all exe in administrative rights. I also login as an administrator. But still now I have not solve this issue yet.

how can i automatically update my value when a user changs the listbox item. At the moment i have a button click when the user changes the list box item and press the button the values get updated, everytime the listbox item get changed i have to repeat it click the button to update the value.
