I found out that I can start any external executable using:
[Code]...
well I want it to look like this: [Textbox] [Browse] [Start] So you click browse, find the exe file, click ok(or something like that) and then click start I also want to make it so it saves the location of the last exe file it started, so you dont have to browse for it every time you use the program.
View 2 Repliesit was regarding in vb.net text operations, i want to replace the text by finding some particular text.but the problem arises when the starting and the at the end delimiter of the string is something same every-time but middle thing keeps on changing so how can i work out with that?? str = Replace(str, "abcdparameter = xyz123;", "abcdarameter = my defined parameter;")
i tried to learn some regular expressions but i am not able to get that.the xyz 123 is same every-time....and also there is one delimiter at the end of the parameter string so anyhow you can select the whole line and replace it.
I want to make a very small program where the user inputs a starting time and an ending time that is in "clock time (?)" and the program converts it to total minutes in one box and a decimal total in a second box. I have 4 textboxes, 2 are masked text boxes (military time) for input and two are not, for output and the math is coming out weird.
If I put a start time of 0925 and an end time of 1015, the results I'm expecting would be 50 total minutes and .83333 total as a decimal. I don't think I'm converting the textbox input correctly as I'm not getting anything near that. I am using a button to calculate and another to clear the boxes, just FYI. Also, I'm not sure what to do about any times that span the noon hour except to use an absolute value.
Public Function Time()
Dim StartTime As Double
Dim Endtime As Double
StartTime = txtStart.Text
Endtime = txtEnd.Text
txtDecimal.Text = (Endtime - StartTime) / 60
txtMinutes.Text = Endtime - StartTime
End Function
I'm using VB.Net in an ASP.Net 2.0 app to run some regular expressions that remove some unnecessary markup. One of the things that I'd like to do is remove span elements that don't have any attributes in them:[code]I'd like to remove the outer span elements. Unfortunately, my regex above gives me this as a result, since the closing span matches the first one it comes across:[code]

View 4 RepliesI'm trying to extract a piece of text from within the string, defining both a starting point and an ending point. For instance, say I want to search for the text found between "That is a " and " car" in the string "That is a red car", so it would return "red".I know you can use .SelectionStart and SelectionLength, but the length of the word can change, so the selection length can vary. What I want is to establish a specific starting point and a specific ending point from which to extract the text from the string.

View 2 RepliesHad this matter on Xp machine and visual studio 2010 ultimate after windows update between december and january: even the simplest windows form program crash on start when starting for debug (inside Ide, F5) unless putting breakpoints on each line of the autogenerated (and marked as "debugger step thorugh") code.(see: [URL]) I was wondering if this matter affects only Xp machines, or if someone with Seven or Vista had same matter.

I have completed my VB code and decided to publish it(make program an installable program). However, I want to rename my project so that when I publish it, the program will be the name I want. Now, my project is named as "Trial" when I first started. Now I want to change to "Monitor" due to some reasons. So it means having to renames all the files in that project as "Monitor" instead of "Trial".

I have written a simple folder backup program which, if started with a /s switch (argument), will run "silently" and perform an unattended backup. The obvious way to start the program with the /s switch is from a batch file, which then runs as a Windows Scheduled Task. I would like to create the batch file from the program itself, when it first runs, as it can then write the value of "Application.ExecutablePath" into the batch file follwed by the /s switch.
So, the question is, where best to save the batch file without running into Vista/Windows 7 permission problems? Is the local application data folder suitable?
Bear in mind there are three parts to this: my vb.net app needs first to create a batch file somewhere without permission issues, that batch file needs to be accessible to Windows Task Scheduler and then, when the batch file is run, it needs to start an .exe which is most likely in the "program files" folder.
I got a text file which I want to display on a text box. The text file has data sorted by date (the oldest one at the first line)
What I want to appear on the text box is just the opposite, the newest one at the first line, and I don't know how to do it.
Does anyone know how to open that text file and display it in inverted order?
I know pretty much how to save information into a text file from runtime VB2005. However, I wish to be able to write the information into any kind of form of file that cannot be simply opened and read by anyone (such as text file can be). Is there anyway that VB2005 can do this?
View 3 RepliesI have a simple text file containing a list of names that I wish to sort. I was hoping for something simple like:
System.IO.File.ReadAllText("MyFile.txt")
System.IO.File.Sort("MyFile.txt")
System.IO.File.WriteAllText("MyFile.txt")
or something like that. Didn't want to actually write a bubblesort/quicksort routine myself.
I would imagine the routine would just rewrite the final file or would I have to make a new file and copy the contents back to the original?

I was studying visual basic 2008 and had reached almost 60% of it when I was told that my course curriculum included visual basic 2005. I will now have to reinstall visual basic 2005(.net framework 2) instead of visual basic 2008(3.5 .net framework). I was wondering- will it be completely different vb2005 and vb2008? I really wanted to stick to vb2008, I was getting the hang of it. Also, I was wondering, can I run my application vb2008 in .net framework? Is there any way around? Also, I used advanced installer to build a setup file for my application? Now the question is will the other computer(the one which will install from the set up) need .net framework of 3.5(since I built apps in vb2008)?
