I have a string array called m_DirFileList and a collection called myFileCollection. I'm trying to loop through the items in the collection and store each one in the string arrayIt's not working though. This is what I'm trying to do:

I have a listbox where the user can add items to it with the following schema "count, id".I want to take each item from the listbox,use the split function so I can "take" only the "count," part and then add the "count," part of each item into a string.I mean I want something like this:
user adds 3 items in the listbox:
1, 100
2, 200 and
3, 300.
I want to make it,so a string can be formed, and contain the "count," part of each item which in this case is;
in the first item the "count," part is "1,",in the second item the "count," part is "2," and in the third it's "3,".I want those "count," parts to be stored into a string (which will result into having this string "1,2,3,").
Is it good practice to store sub-collections of item X inside a parent collection of item X for caching 'filter-queries' which are performed on the parent collection? (They won't be used together (as in color AND type).) Or is it also ok to just Loop over the collection and return the correct entities in a temporary collection?

IM builing an applicaiton that acts as a bank it holds holds Customer information, and there bank ballance. I want to record there Payment ID (for each month), and for them to be able to search for that Payment ID. I have the Payment ID search Function, and it works, but how would when creating a NEW payment be able to add that to the End of each Customers record. Once its saved, how would i then be able to load that information in a combo box back to the Customer. Im using the following method to save the Customer

I'll try to explain what i'm doing here, i wan't look through a text file, adding certain lines to an individual array element. So i want to build an array with mcode, mTitle, mCredits, mSemester, moduleStats, currentYear <--- this information as an array element. So here is my attempt at the code,

2. Then removed the decimal point
3. Concatenated the L.H.S and R.H.S and stored it in a string
4. The string that I got was 192132456
Problem: Now I want that the I should be able to reverse the string such that the string should become 5624132901. I have tried using the arrays but it gives me an error when I try storing a string into an array. I am pasting the code below:

MSDN only discusses strings, images, audio, etc.. but does not cover text files.
I have a text file with about 6k lines of short strings, each on its own line, added to my project's resources and I'm trying to .add each line to a collection. I've tried about 7 or 8 things, not all using StreamReader, but I can't find documentation on this anywhere.
Here is the last thing I tried:

currently in my application I have a Global Collection that is a Collection of Collections.Currently I am trying to add items/ elements to one of the child collections of the Global Collection but I am unable to use the collections methods of the child.When I assign a variable to the child collection and return the collection it is just an object with the collection inside.
Ex:

I need my program to check and see if it contains any of the items in an array. For instance I want the program to only filter .jpg png bmp and gif in a listbox when files are added, so I did this

I have done some code to write to Excel from a String Array of 3 items. These 3 items are written to columns 1, 2, 17 or 3, 4, 17, depending on the value of the 3rd item in the array. For certain Excel files, this is taking too long to write. Is it because I'm writing cell by cell? Is there any other way of writing faster to Excel?
View 9 RepliesI m into automation development of FMCG products using Micro-controllers. I get real time data Barcode 2D from TCP/IP connection. My task is to compare the result do some Computation with them and Store the incoming Barcode and results into a Excel sheet in a folder. I m successful with the basic working. Am currently working at slow speed of 1 barcode(22 char info) per second from the TCP/IP data (barcode scanner). Now, comes the real issue. I need to process atleast 5 barcodes per sec ( <200ms per process). I m partially successful with 3 Barcode per second(300 ms per process). so, thats like 300ms per processing. I need to achieve less than 200ms for entire processing. I have used threads and timers. but I m unable to achieve. Seems like storing in Excel takes more than 250ms. Since i come from micro controllers background 1msec is a lotta time to process for me. I m not sure how much time does it take and trust me i find it difficult to guage the time here.

View 11 RepliesWhat I'm trying to accomplish is first of all, adding items in a list box, but while doing so, store data into that item so when the user clicks on it, the data will be brought up into the correct text boxes.
My idea on how this will all work out has to do with array lists. I'm thinking each time an item is added to the list box, an array list is generated containing all the data from the text boxes. The array list would be named as the text of the list box item.
So then when the user clicks on one of the items, it can find that array list easily because of the selected index, and then update the text boxes with the data.
Is the way I'm thinking of possible? If not, or if there is an easier what, what would that be?

The values are the names "Brian" "james" "jimmy" "jock" and "gok" and there are two test scores "main test" "small test".. I need to be able to "store" these in a "database" and then when the user clicks "show marks" it displays all the names with the marks in a table format. I have a whole bunch of information that has been parsed from a web page and i want to insert the data into a multi-demensional array and the compare the data of a certain array element to another array in the same format to determine which is missing/added.So if i have this:
Type of animal | Color | Age
Cat, Brown, 15

I only want to compare the type of the animal and the color and age is irrelevant.I want it to let me know whats missing and what's been added.Sounds bizarre but yeah. It doesn't need to be arrays, it's the only thing i know of though.

I have a simple subroutine that loads a list from a database. I would like to be able to use the same code to load a ListBox and a ComboBox by defining the list type as the common abstract base class ListControl, and see no reason why I can't - except that VB.NET doesn't expose/implement/whatever the Items collection in ListControl. I note with frustration that this is not the case in ASP.NET. At moment my code is ugly because I have to check what type of list control I have passed in, in order to cast it to a type that has an Items collection. (My code may be ugly for numerous other reasons too, but it is beautiful to me). Is there a way to rewrite the code to avoid having to go through the testing and casting nonsense? (I've stripped it down somewhat so that all that remains is where the problem lies).
