I'm trying to add a control on my form and each time an error pops up : "Failed to import the ActiveX control. Please ensure it is properly registered". I'm currently upgrading from VB6 to VB.NET (VB2010 running on Win 7).I installed vb6 on my win 7 PC and i can still add that control on any form - so definitely the OCX is properly registered. My guess here is that VB.NET is unable to create a COM wrapper for that OCX.

For some reason this error started popping up today on one of my projects.[code]...
If I go into advanced compile options and change it to not generate and debug info, my project compiles fine.
I have tried setting the permissions on the Release folder to full for everyone, so I would assume it's not a permissions issue. Also, I don't see anything in my log files that would provide me with more information about the issue.

What is the Best way to create scheduler ?
I can think two ways,
1) to create endless loop that keep checking for time of day, so if i have an event (stored in my DB) that should be execute @ 14:30 the loop will compare in every loop the current time against the DB time so when the current time will be 14:30 the event will be executed
2) the same as above just using Timer instead of endless loop.
the problem is that both methods seems to be inefficient because at least 95% of the checks will be for no use.
so is there any methods or some way in VB.NET to raise an event in a specific hour without keep checking the current hour every second ?

Suppose a dll file is referenced by a project. To step into the dll code, I added the corresponding project to the solution. But I found the program still can not go to the internal code of that dll project.

I have a project with requirements to generate a single executable file with no dependencies that will automate the submission of data to a WCF service based on command line parameters passed to it. As a result, I cannot configure the WCF binding and quotas in an App.config file, so I am generating a BasicHttpBinding in code to use when dimensioning the WCF client object.
However, the WCF service accepts the binary data for a relatively small Excel spreadsheet that ends up being around 30kb, so the default configuration settings for the binding's ReaderQuotas are inadequate. My attempts to increase them in code to 1MB, however, have met with failure each time I make a call to the service.[code]...

I have a custom window form control contained within its own project that is referenced in the solution's main project. I am currently get an error stating: "Could not load type ... because format is invalid." The type in question is actually a structure. I get the general problem in that for some reason the struct can't be obtained from its assembly, but I don't quite understand what is meant by "format is invalid.". I originally had the solution running on a full Win XP machine before transferring to my Win7

I'm writing a program for my algebra students to practice integers.Stuff like....
3-6
-4 + (-5)
3(-4)
-15 3
etc.
I want to show an explanation and for the addition and subtraction, I want to show it on a number line. For example, if the problem is 3 - 7, the number line should show and arrow to that goes right to 3, and then left 7 units (starting from 3). Then the student can see that the answer is -4.I could probably do this with some string manipulation, but what would be the easiest way to do it in a picture format? Maybe a bitmap.

Running off my laptop: Visual Basic 2010 Express & SQL Server 2008 . I've successfully been able to use the connection wizard to connect to my database in vb.net and read/write data using datasets/tableadapters/binding_source etc.
Now I am trying to create an SQL connection via code to connect to my database to do some more complicated queries. I was successful in being able to connect to my database with SQL, but by doing so it produces an error when it tries to run any .Fill() methods from my TableAdapters below. The error produced is the following: "SqlException was unhandled. Cannot open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user 'Chris-PCChris'".
If I remove my SQL connection code, the TableAdapter.Fill() methods will work fine.

These are two code blocks from the two programs I have wrote. The first is the server program that receives a connection and writes the file to disk. The second is the Client program that sends the file to the server to be written to disk.As it is - it hangs. I did once get it to write to the disk - but the file was twice the size of the original. what objects to use for transferring a file over a TCP IP network connection with TCPClient and TCPListener.

This program is a small ADOX database with a single data entry Form. Originally written in VB 2005, it was copied into the VB 2008 Project folder. Opening the file in the IDE, it went through the Conversion process, nevertheless, because of the following error detailed below, the program will not accept any changes.
Error List: Warning 1 Unable to find manifest signing certificate in the certificate store. AppointmentsMissed (<the project's name) Under Security in the project's Properties Window these suggestions are made: Visual Studio was unable to determine the Code Access Security (CAS) permissions that are applicable to your project. The most likely cause is that your project references a strongly-named assembly that defines custom permissions, but that is not properly installed in the global assembly cache (GAC).
To correct this, try the following: 1. Ensure that any custom permissions defining assemblies referenced by your project have been properly installed to the GAC. If any of these assemblies have been rebuilt or have had their version numbers modified, you must install the new assemblies in the GAC. 2. Restart Visual Studio.
