i'm looking for a way to get the system's folder icon WITHOUT using an icon file. i've also come across this great class that works very well with files but i'm not sure how to make it work with folders.
Code: Public Class Icons '===================================================================================== ' clsIcon
I like the default icon the program uses on the form title bar. The icon with the little red yellow and blue colored squares. I would also like to use it as the application build icon so it use it as the icon for the .exe file and shortcuts to the .exe file.I searched a long time and couldn't find the answer. Some said to take a screen-shot of the icon displayed on the screen and crop the image and make an icon that way, but when I tried to use alt-tab with the program running, and press print-screen, the alt button made it take a screen-shot of the currently selected window and not the entire screen, so I couldn't figure out how to get a screen-shot of it at it's full size.
Im in a win.form app. in .Net 2008 I have a lot of Icons that I want to display on a (TouchScreen enviroment) button The icons are in 8,16; 32 bit in the sizes 16X16 ; 32X32 ; 48X48 The buttons are large enough, they have a dimension of 252X132. The images are loaded via the Button propertie : Image. This has allso a size propertie, but is disabled. And I can see its loading the 32X32 32bpp format But I want the 48X48 size on there. Does some 1 knows how to get those sizes op the button.
I have a form (in visual studio 2008 vb.net) with 1 listview and i want to see a arrow when i make sort. I have finhsed with the sort code but i am unable to see the up or down arrow. I have try the
I have a menustrimp with items on it and with each item i have added an image to it via the image property. But the problem is when ever i try to make an change to the images like i want to remove an image And replace it with another image, at run time, the old image shows the new one doesn't show. This same problem occured to some buttons with icons on them.anytime i change the icon ,it doesn't show the old one shows. It appears the changes doesn't take effect.
After upgrading from x86 to x64 bit I have been comfortable coding without any issues but now I have recently ran into the smallest but most significant final touch to the project. I can not add a Icon to my program, the default .ico for Visual Studio - Visual Basic is driving me nuts. Here is how I come to know if I am solving my problem right? - But after clicking on the <Browse> menu I just get a short respond for 1 sec and nothing opens. seriously I searched google but could only find hundreds of year old post about general icon help and nothing to pin point 'my' issue. i think it might not have the right directory or something.. but idk how to fix it CAN YOU HELP ME SOLVE.

# okay to recap I am unable to select Browse option to change the icon with visual studio 2010.
I have a Visual Studio 2005 VB project that creates a fairly simple form containing three text boxes with corresponding labels. In terms of property settings I have AutoSize set to True, AutoSizeMode set to GrowAndShrink, SizeGripStyle set to Show, and WindowState set to Maximized.
I'd like the user to be able to grow and shrink this form using the resize grip that appears in the bottom right corner. When the application starts, it starts maximized, which is what I want, and it has the typical minimize, restore down, and close buttons in the upper right corner.
I can use restore down to reduce its size, and once that's done I can use the resize grip to make the form larger, but the resize grip will not allow me to make the form smaller. Changing WindowState to Normal doesn't change this behavior.
I got a graphic that I got to rotate about a specific point. So, I got to define the centerX and centerY, the point about which to rotate. For that, I am importing the namespace: "system.windows.media.rotatetransform"The following problem then arises when the above namespace gets underlined with a green curly line and when I place the mouse over it, the following message is displayed:"Namespace or type specified in the Imports'System.Windows.media.rotatetransform' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespae or type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases."
I currently have the following code but I would like to get away from going to a physical location. If I have the icon as a resource, how can I programatically add the icon? I don't want to use the form's designer to do this.
Sub Form1_Load() Dim ico As New System.Drawing.Icon("C:Resourcesicon.ico") Me.Icon = ico End Sub
My application icon looks ugly-like a paper and i would like to change it to something like globe icon or any suitable image.Am programming using visual studio 2005 and the program is written in vb.net.
I'm not sure exactly if the folder icon is in shell32.dll, but nonetheless if it is.Basically, whenever I come across a folder in a FileSystem list, I want to add the icon for a folder to the image list that I am using for the ListView. The problem is that I'm not sure how to reference a specific icon location in a icon collection in a dll.Is this possible with Icon.ExtractAssociatedIcon and shell32.dll?
Got an annoying issue it's Visual Basic 2010 I changed icon where the assembly name.I got a good icon it has lots of sizes, or I tried diff sizes like 64x64 128x128 nothing seems to work I only see the icon when i do View > Details so it's small icons in the folder, but if i have view large icons It doesn't work. I even used the same icon on VS 2008 and it worked.
Here's the code that I use to extract the icon size that I want:
Dim i As Icon = My.Resources.Spectrum Using i2 As New Icon(i, New Size(256, 256)) Me.PictureBox1.Image = i2.ToBitmap End Using
This works from 16x16 up to 128x128 but for 256x256 it extracts the 128x128 icon. I tried 0x0, because I seem to remember that that is how the large size is stored in the meta data, but that didn't work either.
I'm attempting to remake the Explorer to customize it some more. I know how to get Name, FileSize ect. Getting the Icon is hard though. [Code] The code i'm using to Insert the Icon into a image, i'm getting this error: Error1Value of type 'System. Drawing.Icon' cannot be converted to 'System.Drawing.Image'
i'm getting this really strange error, or I must be overlooking something obvious. I'm using the following piece of code:Dim hwnd As Integer = GetWindow(GetDesktopWindow, GW_ CHILD) Dim myicon. As System.Drawing.Icon =Icon.FromHandle(hwnd)PictureBox1.Image =myicon.ToBitmap
Why is it that the icon of my form appears only when I am running it in my IDE. When I publish my program and running it in Windows, the icon does not appear at the taskbar, what appears is a default icon instead.
I've just changed the Icon for my application in the project->Properties->Application tab. However when running it's still the old (small) icon in the taskbar. How is this changed?
I have an issue with the icon displayed on the desktop. I have used the project's properties, application form and used the dropdown menu under icon to associate an Icon to the application. I have done this loads of times before and it has always worked.
Dim iconloci As String = located Dim iconindex As String = iconloci.LastIndexOf(" exename: ") iconloci = iconloci.Remove(iconindex) Dim theicon As Image
[code].....
It works perfectly for files on the local system. But i need it to also grab icons from exe files in network locations(\\example-pc\example). Vb net just throws an error when trying....The error:QuoteValue of "\\examaple-pc\example-folder\example-file.exe" is not valid for 'filepath'.
Im trying to make the an icon for the form work with my own icon, because all programs have their own(like ie hat the e and paint.net has their logo), but whenever I put in my icon phote(and it is saved as .Ico) it comes up with the error: Argument 'picture' must be a picture that can be used as an icon. I have the same measurments as the defult one(32 by 32) so what am i doing wrong?
We have a GIS application that has some performance issues. It creates and sends an image to a web browser. We start with a Bing Maps imager, add complex polygons (complete with transparent fill), save the finished image as a PNG, and send it to the browser.
The idea has come up that we could possibly install a graphics card and use DirectX or OpenGL to improve performance. I believe this would be the case even though we ultimately generate an image instead of sending the data the the screen. I believe our processes could still make use of the API and the hardware acceleration it provides. Our process is not unlike what CGI film makers do to render individuals frames of a film, though we simply render a single image and send it, as opposed to the hundreds of thousands of images needed for a single CGI film.
So my question is: would a powerful graphics card and use of DirectDraw or OpenGL provide us a worthwhile performance boost? It can take us 20-30 seconds to render a more complex map. Which is a long time to wait on a web page...
Im working on a project that needs to print a report of one client.Everything went smooth untill i came across my multiline input text data. When i display it in the PrintPagePreview the text go's outside my page. Even when im printing it only the halve of my text is displayed. I googled and looked everywhere but i can't get a clear fix for it.
I used to program with Visual Basic 6, so I have alot of old programs that I'm updating, plus I'm learning the new VB2008 methods. I'm writing a program that replaces the old "BitBlit" function which is no longer supported by Visual Basic 2008. It involves three picture boxes, one holds the sprite bitmap, a second holds the mask (silhouette) of the sprite bitmap, and a third has a background image.
drawing text on a window which is not the current form's window.I remember doing this in Win32 api with getwindowdc(handle) to obtain a DC for the Window, then textout() on the DC.
Ok, I want to create a class that will handle a special rectangle graphic. In my form, I want to have two of these special rectangles. So, basically, I need two instances of that class in my form, right?I manage to initialize two, alright. But, how exactly am I supposed tomanage drawing/graphics etc in a class, and the results to be displayed in my form?
