Setting Numbers In Array And For Loops
Sep 27, 2009What I'm trying to do is: Set numbers (0-51, a deck of cards) in an array like card(0) = 23 (Which would represent, say, the Jack of Clubs). Then card(1) = 35. Now I have two arrays.
The first array is what I have mentioned above.
The second array is holding a Boolean value. So what I do is make a loop going through the card() array from 0-51. In this loop it generates a random number between 0 and 51. Then I check the second array (iCardUsed()) to see if it holds the random number.
So iRndNum = 13 (Say 13 was the random number)
loops through the second array checking if the there is a value of 13. If there isn't then I want it to set card(whatever it was on, say 12) = 13. then make iCardUsed(13) = true saying card 13 was true. I'm not too sure what to do if it was true, not false.
Alright, now that I explained what I was trying to accomplish, I'll post some code and the project.

Now, this works, but there are some duplicates in the array. I'm not sure why there would be duplicates. It worked fine when I manually entered data so the logic of it is right. [URL].

Jan 10, 2010I'm using VB08. I've populated a listbox with numbers and I want to add all those numbers together and display the result in a Label. I've heard about using parse but I don't understand exactly how it works.
This is the code that I have that i think should work.

When I run it, nothing happens. My "For Each" statement I'm not sure if it's doing what I think it's doing. I can't believe I spent 6 hours banging my head against the wall but I finally got it figured out.

I'm not exactly sure what this code is doing. When I put 1 in the first number and 10 in the second number, the odd label only shows 9 and the even label only shows 10. Another example is when I put 2 and 15, the odd label comes out as 15 and the even label is 14. I'm very new to VB and programming in general and have just started getting into for...next loops and don't fully understand what the counter is or how the loop is supposed to work. I guess I'm having 2 problems. One is that I don't know how to make the program find the right numbers(my logic is off? or how I set up the loop isn't right?) and the other is the labels are showing only 1 number each instead of all the numbers in between on their own line.

Calling A Function To Display A Range Of Prime Numbers
Dec 5, 2010I am trying to create a form that allows users to input two numbers a high bound and a low bound then when you click the calculate button it determines all the primes within the range and displays those numbers within a multi-line text box. It seems I have everything working except how to display the prime numbers, the result from the following code displays nothing but zeros so I suspect that the range is not being saved somehow?
