View 2 RepliesI've got a form with parent-child setup. The parent displays name and other demographic info.The child displays multiple addresses, one row at a time. There can only be one primary address for a name and this is designated by a checkbox at the top of the child form.If the user wants to change the primary address to another address,then they find the other address and click on the checkbox.The form checks the other addresses and if one is found that is designated as primary,the user is warned that one already exists and prompts them to change it.
So for example, a name has 2 addresses, the 2nd being the primary address.The user wants to change the 1st address to be primary.They click on the Primary Address checkbox for the 1st address.A warning displays that there is already an address listed as primary.The user then answers the prompt to change the 1st address to the primary address.The checkbox for the 2nd address will be unchecked and the checkbox will be checked for the 1st address.My problem is getting the checkbox unchecked for the 2nd address.If I close the form and reopen, then the checkbox is unchecked.How do I refresh the checkbox for the 2nd address?Here is the code I'm using to find if an address has already been marked as primary:[code]......

View 2 RepliesI have a very stubborn check box . Let me tell you its story :There is Form1 with a button leading to Form2 . On Form2 there is located that stubborn check box I was telling you about . That check box has code in its CheckedChange event and accordingly to its Checked condition , it enables or disables some text boxes .Well , the first time Form2 is shown , that check box works fine : when I check it it enambles the text boxes and when I uncheck it , it disables those text boxes .Then , I press the button to return to Form1 . If needed , the code in the button is :Form1.ShowMe.CloseMy adventure starts when I show again Form2 ... This time the check box is acting weirdly . No matter if I check it or I uncheck it , it always disables the text boxes , as if it is constantly unchecked ! I can see it changing its checked state whenever I click on it , but it always runs the code to disable the text boxes.
I even used some break points in the code and found out that indeed it is the code that disables the text boxes that is called every time , no matter if the check box is checked or unchecked .I don't thing this has anything to do with the fact that this event is called by all the 4 check boxes on the form . After all , it is always the 1st check box that causes the problem (I can see it when moving the cursor over the genericindex variable) .
I am using the following code for a checkbox, if checked it should print the text defined, unchceked, it clears the items in the ricktextbox. My problem is it prints fine (lets say it prints two lines) as defined, when I uncheck, it clears the text in rich text box, but when I check again, the text appears in the richtext box, but displayed from 4th line. I need to restart from the beginning/ or at least from the next available line. I cant use clear() since it erase all the contents as i have another 3 checkbox items placed.

I'm trying to set my software up so that when I check the checkbox for winRAR to be installed, it'll pop up a new window asking if I want to install the 32 bit version or the 64 bit version. I have no problem getting the window to show up but than if I try to exit out of the window and than uncheck the box (in case it was accidentally checked) it'll just open the window again. I am thinking I have to tell vb that when I uncheck the box it shouldn't do anything.

(I know that the Nothing under the Me.chk_rar.Checked = False doesn't work but I left that blank once and it just opened a bunch of windows and crashed my system. I know it says "E:Music" right now but I just pointed it there so that there was something there normally it'll point to the other window. If I need to created a new Form for every little window that I have for instance the little window that I want to pop up, do I need to create a new form just for that little window to ask which architecture is needed and than giving the options for 32 bit or 64 bit.

That way error checks can be discrete and added or removed from the class that requests the error checks.Each IErrorCheck implementation would be programmed against the supertype IErrorCheck (Strategy).But it would be nice not to recompile when checks are added or removed.Is there an accepted procedure for abstracting the error checks all the way out of the program, such as to read the checks from a file?

I've tried code in the Item_Check event. It does not pick up the item checked. It's as though it's behind. For example if my listview has a list of country codes and I check US, the code returns nothing but if I check another item, it picks up US. Same thing happens in the SelectedIndexChanged event. If I use a button, all works as expected.

I need to update my array when the user checks a box in a checked list box. I have been struggling with this for awhile and have it working almost perfectly. It adds items just fine, but when I try to remove them it won't do it until I check another box.I have a CheckedListBox called fields, and a ListBox called included, and an array called fieldsArry.Here is the code when the user checks a box:

I know why it is only working on one and not the other - my problem is figuring out how to get it to work on both. For whatever reason (this drives me crazy sometimes) when I check a box in the CheckedListBox it runs all the code I put in there before it even checks the box. So I can't just reference that box as a checked box until after all the code in the itemCheck event is finished. I remedied this in the updateFieldArray by including the currently selected item as a included item, which means that even when they are trying to uncheck something (remove it from the array) it is selected and will be included.

At first I couldn't add a datasource (the .mdf file for the database) because of a "Operating system error 32" which I seemed to have resolved by giving myself full permissions for .mdf file (by right clicking on the file and going into properties and then Security) and restarting the SQL SERVER (SQLEXPRESS) service. The dataset for the database is in my solution explorer but when I right click on a table adapter to add a query and attempt to open up the query builder, I get the error in the title above.

I need to know how to take all of the dates entered and display on a different form the latest date selected by the user from all the entries on a form. All the options will be training selected and when the last training item is selected and a date entered I need to be able to output the training completion date which will be the latest date entered in the form.
