Making A Value As A Default Which Can Be Changed To Another By User
Aug 9, 2010
In my program I've a list of "Time Zone" and I want to make one of that as the default Time Zone when an end user uses the program - ie: everytime he starts the program that Time Zone should be selected ( Of course, he should be able to select another Time Zone temporarily, but his default selection shouldn't be changed unless he wants to do so by changing the default one).
And another user should be able to make another Time Zone as his default Time Zone.
In my program, I give the Time Zones in a ComboBox as follows:
I need to print the contents of 3 textboxs to default printer. what examples I have found dont seem to work. I was trying the documentprint1 component as i thought it would be easy but cant figure out how to tell it what to print the second part is to print a variable (string) to the printer as well.no need for user to select just straight to default printer with its default settings
[ProgramFilesFolder][Manufacturer][ProductName][Version] is the Default. i Want to change the programfilesfolder to documents folder.
I already try this:
[DocumentsFolder][Manufacturer][ProductName] but it doesnt work. error in installing the product. ERRROR: "Could not access network location Polongo companyMC"
Iam changing the installation directory because when the application is installed in program files, my database can't add and edit record. having an error something like "operation must need an updateable query" because of that error i tried to install the appl in documents and there n error i'd encountered like when I install it to the program files folder.
I want to detect when the user has changed the content of a Textbox.
The following does not work for me, because: When the user navigates through the database (using my navigation buttons), the textbox is also changed, but NOT by the user making input. I would only like to know when the user EDITED the Textbox.
Private Sub mskStudentNumber_TextChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles mskStudentNumber.TextChanged If Not Movement Then '' If not navigation
I try to make a WFA for filling, reading etc. to a database. I want to compare 2 dates (actually 1 date is changed by 42 days) that are chosen by a user through a datetimepicker. After comparing the 2 dates the "newest" date has to show up in a non editable textbox. This Is my code (of course I have 2 subs for the datetimepickers as well).
Private Sub AwbdatumTextBox_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles AwbdatumTextBox.TextChanged Dim DatumbinnenkomstDateTimePicker As DateTime
I changed my Username on my computer from i.e. "xxxxxx x xxxxx" to "Dennis"
VB 2008 during a compile gave me the following error: Error reading icon 'C:Usersxxxxxx x xxxxxAppDataRoamingMicrosoftVBExpress9.0VSProjectApplication.ico' -- The system cannot find the path specified.
The file "VSProjectApplication.ico" is in 'C:UsersDennisAppDataRoamingMicrosoftVBExpress9.0'
Somewhere in the VB2008 "configuration" files I believe that I need to manually change the old path to the new path.
I found the old path in the ".suo" file. The ".suo" file is not a text file. How can I edit the .suo file, save it so that it will work?
on my Form I have a DataViewGrid and some textboxes with a save button (they are filled with additional data of the selected row).Save is disabled first, when I change something in the textboxes the save button is enabled. When the user changes a gow in the grid, I want to ask before changing the grid row, if he wants to save (if the button is enabled).I am using RowEnter but this is too late, then the selected row already changed (and my textboxes already got new data)...What event can I use to ask if I should save stuff before the user changes a row?Something like BeforeRowChanging with a chance to cancel changing the row?
I'm using Visual Basic Express 2010 and SQL Express 2008 in Windows XP. At first I couldn't add a datasource (the .mdf file for the database) because of a "Operating system error 32" which I seemed to have resolved by giving myself full permissions for .mdf file (by right clicking on the file and going into properties and then Security) and restarting the SQL SERVER (SQLEXPRESS) service. The dataset for the database is in my solution explorer but when I right click on a table adapter to add a query and attempt to open up the query builder, I get the error in the title above.
i am creating a currency converter in VB 2008. I have a two buttons to choose the currency or $. When one is clicked the String or $ is entered into my textbox. I need a backspace button. and i used this code.
tb_result.Text = tb_result.Text.Substring(0, tb_result.Text.Length - 1) tb_result.text = my textbox.
It deletes the last string, but i want it to not delete the Currency($).
[code]...But, when someone else runs it their user name won't be the same as mine, so only people with the account name ADAM would be able to run successfully Is there a code so instead of me putting adam there is a code that will choose the user that the program is being run by?
I am trying to make a user control for information received from a database but i get:The class WFUserControl can be designed, but is not the first class in the file. Visual Studio requires that designers use the first class in the file. Move the class code so that it is the first class in the file and try loading the designer again.
Do i make the user control directly and add the code? Because thats what i did.. Or are there steps to do first before creating it?
I'm using Visual Basic Express 2010 and SQL Express 2008 in Windows XP.I created a database on my local PC HDD.
My deployment of upgrades to an application written in C# (.NET 3.0) consist of simply replacing an older .exe with the new one. Because that older version can currently be used by some customers, I simply rename the old version to blahblah.exe.old and copy the new one to the same folder. When the user opens up the application again, the new one loads up.
The problem is, every time I deploy a new version, the user scope settings are always reverted back to the default values.
I have two textboxes on the screen. They are used for startdate and enddate. If the user does not enter anything in the textboxes I pass nothing (VB.NET) to the webservice. When the webservice receive it on the other end it shows the value "#12:00:00 AM" which I think is the default for the datetime field. Anyway, now I do not want to pass this value to Stored procedure since it will not work. How can I check before sending values to sproc that the value is not the default datetime.
I have a VB.NET module that prints out a series of Crystal and PDF documents as a packet. I need a way to temporarily change the user's default printer to the network printer for the PDF report (the Crystal reports are already redirected). Once the module has done its job, I want the module to return the default printer back to its original setting. Since Adobe Reader only works with the default printer, and there does not appear to be a way to redirect that, I need to change the deault for the duration of the module. I tried the following code, but it still sends the PDF output to the local printer.[code]...
I made a project in VB.NET 2008. When I update my project I change the assembly version but the problem is that when the user gets the new version they lose their user settings.[code]Note the version number in the path. Is there any way save in a location not affected by changing the version?
I am creating a customised version of the ListView control and there are several of the properties that a ListView has that I would like to be set to a different value to the ListView default when a user goes to use my user control.
From what I've found there seems to be a number of people suggesting just set them in the constructor, but to the best of my knowledge that would just mean that the user would not be able to change the properties in the PropertyGrid in the VS IDE.I assume this is probably something extremely simple that I have overlooked.
I have a datagridview with 3 checkboxes, Yes, No and InV.At runtime, I want the user when he checks one checkbox the other two are unchecked by default. Therefore, at whatever one time ONLY one checkbox will be checked.
Ok I am making an RPG that is checking for collisions whenever the user is walking...Basically i made an array of points in which the user is not allowed to access and if they do try to access them it will not walk...
Public Class cityshop2010 Dim abletomove As Boolean = True Dim moveto As Point Dim badpoints(1) As Point
[code]....
with that code there I want to be able to say badpoints(0-50) or badpoints (0 to 50) whatever... or even badpoints(*) for any badpoint....How do i make it check all the badpoints?
I wanted to know how I can make a stand alone exe without making the user install the application. So that the program can be ran from a disk or flash drive. Currently I can run it just fine on the PCs, I'm developing it on. But when I take it to another, that has the targeted framework, it crashes.
I would like to make a method excute right before the user get back controle of the program. No matter what chain of events happens i would like to beable to have a method is always the last thing to excute. I plan on using the method to check the form and the data on it. I have no issues righting the method, I just don't know if their is a event or some other way to make sure it is always the last thing to excute. (Sorta like a validation method) Is their an easy way to do this?
Not sure if this is the right Forum to post this question. If not guide me where to post... I have an Access database that I would like to be able to share with Multiple user cuncurently... I have seen it is being done but I am not sure how? Or may be I should be using SQL Express.
I'm making an application where a user draws a shape on a picture box( this will be saved on a bitmap image), then another user has to draw on that shape (=follow it ) . if the 2nd user goes too far from the line then an error message will appear.
for example( in case i couldn't clarify this well!)the 1st user draws a a vertical line, the 2nd user has to follow it, if-while drawing on it- he gets too far horizontally, there would be the error.
I'm currently thinking of comparing every point by the 2nd user to its equivalent in an array containing the points by the first user.
I'm making a program similar to a wordpad or whatever, but i'm having issues making the user inputs insert at the cursor position instead of at the end.. I'm running DevStudio 5 btw.
Would it be possible to make a webbrowser link to the cookies and such of any windows user account no matter which windows user account you were on. So the user would use a drop down list or something then press a button and be able to switch to another user accounts internet explorer favourites, cookies, and flash cookies, rather than having to log out and then log into another user account?
If we say blue is the default colour of the Backcolor property I understand it as if you don't specify a colour for Backcolor blue will be its colour. But I could not make sense of default property of a class in the context of building a custom user control. After calling an instance of a class we have to either call one of its members or assign an other object for it. Therefore why should there be a default property?
