I am trying to make an application using vb2008, and I'm facing a problem. I have a command button, and I want it to generate a new groupbox each time it's clicked. So here's the problem: when the user clicks the button, the previous groupbox disappears, which is sth I don't want to happen. Also, I wonder how I can use each of the controls included in the groupbox, while I can't name them or something...
I need to allow users to download a file to their machine in my vb.net web app. I need them to browse to the download location themselves through some kind of navigation window.
I am creating a program that will help in upload files to a website. One of the things that the website uses is the "Upload File" button. When you push it an "Open" dialog box opens (like OpenFileDialoge). What I want the program to do is auto fill in the direct file location for the website. So that the dialog box won't open or won't need input.
I am trying to find a way to allow my users to choose the directory to save files into, THe file name is automatically generated as it has a naming convention and i am able to pre program a location to save to but i d like to be able to allow my users to decide themselves which directory they want to save the files to and to have the ability to choose which directory to save to
I cannot find a way to make a program that I write make a shortcut in the start menu for all users. My final goal is to make an MSI and deploy it in group policy to all users on a computers OU. Is this possible?
I have a Windows Form in a VB.NET program with a property of "TournID". The ID will be passed in when the form is created by a button pressed. Here is the property stub:
How do I name a variable depending on what is in the textbox?
Like would it look like: Dim (textbox.text) as string etc.
The reason I want to do this is because the user is gonna click a button to create a task. When the button is pushed, a label is created by the code I already have, the problem is, I want them to be able to click the button more then once and new labels will appear below the one that just was there. By being able to name a variable by what is in the textbox, I will be able to do so many things.
I have DateTimePicker where user can choose a date and make entry. I then record this entry into the database. My application date shows 08-02-2012 (i.e., 08 february 2012 in DTPicker value), when I select this and insert it to my database, the MS Access takes this as August, 2 2012, and records it as the same.
I could fix this by using this code: Dim mydate As DateTime mydate = Me.dtpicker10.Value.ToShortDateString Dim output1 As String = Format(mydate, "MM-dd-yyy") and pass sql insert query using insert into table (mydate) VALUES (#" & output1 & "#)
Instead of getting the value directly from the dtpicker. This fix the issues, but when I tried to get the date out of the database to filter it between entry made in certain date, I sometimes have problem. How do I generalize this for all type of client computers where the date and time settings can be any form. What will be the best and more flawless ways of approach to target all types of clients? Am I on the right track?
Ok so I can't figure out how to make it so that on my application users cannot just click "submit" without choosing a radio/option button & filling out the username + password field ?? Using VB 08 BTW.
Dim xlApp As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application Dim xlWorkBook As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook Dim xlWorkSheet As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet[code]....

I am currently working on a family project which is based on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" show. There is a huge diffrence between the show and my project. My project is a christmas edition and the goal is not to get money or something, since I will not add it... Erhmm... Let me get to the point. I have already designed a layout and scripted some things. I have about thirty questions but I do not want them to always spawn in the same array, if you know what I mean. I want the program to randomly choose one of those thirty questions and NEVER choose the same question in the same program run. By the way, there are four options on my project: A, B, C and D. I have got everything, I just need a code.
I'm making a really complex program that will run only on windows XP (it will synchronize more 100 computers just like a net cafe). How can i make the executable run at startup? For every user not only e.g. Administrator...
1. This is the path for the application startup: Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.Startup) Does the same path exists but for all the users ?
2. Is this possible through modifying the registry ?
Isn't it time to make a separate section for Visual Basic 10 users? For example when looking for the MID string function there are a lot of complaints that it is not implemented in VB, whereas in VB 10 it is.Perhaps a good idea to filter out the VB6 items in a VB10 section?
I have written a program and everything works fine, but I want to make sure that only the administrator can add or edit users to the system. As I see it, I need to add an argument (if statement) to my login button code to disable the add / edit users button on the main form if the user is not Administrator. [Code] I have tried putting my If statement in but it doesn't happen the button is still active even when I login as admin.
i'm new to the VB programing world, actually to programming world in general, so before i start i have a question. I've heard that to run programs created in VB you need to have NET Framework on your comp, is this true?Cause i found somewhere on the web that you have a exe in your Debugging folder, and i tried running it on my friends comp which is without framework and it worked. Don't know if this was some error or something, and if there will be problems if i run them like this, so i wanted to ask professionals,

I am trying to create a program which loads a Excel file (03) with various worksheets, and the user can update them.I think it should use the Tab system on vb (08 express) and have each worksheet on each tab.On the tab, it should list the first 8 cells.
i know this may soiund a bit of a n00bish question or 1 that pops out every now and then, but i am havin trouble trying to round off nubers.basically i ahev this label where a value i s inputted by the system after it goes thruogh user inputting so:1)user inputs somehting (* by somethingh)2) user input (* by something )etc etc.val(label1.text) = the additon of all those user inputs---to make life easier lets ust say user input1 = user input 2 k sometimes the val of label1 becomes a decimal point like 3453453.666777 etc when this happens i just want to round up to 2 decimal places i have looked on msdn for help which gave me:
Im trying to build an activeX control to be used in excel using VB08 Xpress addition. I have found instructions to create a Class Library Project, then add a user control. Under Build there is only one option, Build "Project Name", no options, no nothing. The build creates a .dll file not an ocx (which I was expecting?)
The problem is that when I compile the control I get a .dll file that I cant register as a activeX control, therefore I cant use it in excel. Ive tried to create stupidly simple activeX controls, ie one label that says "Hello World", still no luck. When I try and register the .dll file, it doest work, therefore no dice with excel.
The strange thing is that within VB08 Xpress I can use the control in any Windows Form Application I create.
I want to make a extractor/installer for example the users will press Install and it will extract myprogram.exe at C:/windows/system32/ automatically when they press install.
