I am trying to make an application using vb2008, and I'm facing a problem. I have a command button, and I want it to generate a new groupbox each time it's clicked. So here's the problem: when the user clicks the button, the previous groupbox disappears, which is sth I don't want to happen. as you can see in the code its supposed to read a text file and if the line contains the same string as in the textbox then its gonna make a messagebox.
now the problem, if the line does not contain the specific string but the next or any line other line does, then it should automatically read the next line on "Else" and that's where I'm lost
for a "Readnextline" command or something like that?
This is what I'm trying to accomplish: I have a Point of Sale application that integrates with a credit card processesor. I wan't to remove any user interfacing logic in regards to the credit card processor in the point of sale and add it to a application that sits in the background or system tray. I want to be able to send a command to the background app to popup a form for user input.
For example: User in the Point of Sale clicks a button "Credit Card" at this point it will send a command to the background app say "ProcessCC" which will pass a transactionid and an amount , this will open a form for the user to enter in the credit card information and submit the payment to the credit card proccessor.
Reason: I need to get a padss certification and don't want to submit the point of sale to do it. Rather send the simple background app that will control any credit card processing functionality such as encryption , storing etc. I know it can be done using sockets but was hopping for an alternative solution.
How do i make like 3 textboxes and 2 checkboxes work together with a datagrid so if u filled them out and u click add it adds them to the datagrid and it stays like that?

View 2 RepliesI am trying to send keys to a control on my form. But I am getting a NullReferenceException and I don't know why. The code is about as basic as it gets: [Code] The error reported is object reference not set to an instance of an object but Send is a shared method so doesn't need an instance. Strangely if I ignore the error it works fine and F4 is passed to the control. I know there was an issue with sendkeys and UAC but I thought this had been solved (I am using 4.0 framework).

I can only access the external program thru the command line (its not my program) and I must do so from a form app.

I am trying to use the send keys function to send text to another program.I ahve gotten it al working well, except for using () as I know sendkeys doesnt like these.I have tried using the Replace function in several places in my code to replace the ( with {(} and {+0} etc, with various other options tried.But when I run the program, it seems to skip this out completly and leaves them in the string as (, and therefore it errors and wont run.When I step through it, it goes through the function but doesnt alter the strng as it should. This is the code to send the string and my attempt at making it replace the () in the module

is it possible to make one application send a task to another application and recieve the result from that secondary app?i made a text editor program and i added a scan feature and i made another app that has ocr capabilities.The scanner ability is in my text editor program, the ocr program doesnt scan you have to input an image into it and it will give text result a few seconds later.the prob is alot of times the ocr code uses sooo much memory and crashes when its incorporated with my text editor, but individually each application works fine and doesnt take too much memory. Memory wont be even an issue if the ocr program is standalone so that when it is done decoding image the application can be made to exit. now here is the question, how do i make my text editor send the image to the ocr program and how do i make my ocr program send the text back to my text editor? is it possible? i mean the only way i know off is creating temp files in a certain folder and having a timer on each program that keeps waiting for temp files. That just seems like pretty lame coding to me i was wondering if there's a better way?

Im trying to build an activeX control to be used in excel using VB08 Xpress addition. I have found instructions to create a Class Library Project, then add a user control. Under Build there is only one option, Build "Project Name", no options, no nothing. The build creates a .dll file not an ocx (which I was expecting?)
The problem is that when I compile the control I get a .dll file that I cant register as a activeX control, therefore I cant use it in excel. Ive tried to create stupidly simple activeX controls, ie one label that says "Hello World", still no luck. When I try and register the .dll file, it doest work, therefore no dice with excel.
The strange thing is that within VB08 Xpress I can use the control in any Windows Form Application I create.

I have designed a windows form(to act as a messagebox) with Label and OK, Cancel buttons. I'm on form1 and call this messagebox form in the closing event. If I debug the showdialog of the messagebox form the custom text is displayed on the Label, however if the application is minimized and when i right click on the application in taskbar and select close window then the messagebox form is poped up however the label doesn't show the custom text.

The data coms back fine and is presenting in the DGV without any trouble, but I don't like the order the data is being returned in.A long solution might be to modify the SProc to return the data in a different order, but I prefer to handle this on the UI for simplicity. Also, I know the user can re-order but that presents a specific poblem in the way the columns are structured.Is there a way to programmatically change the order at runtime?Here's the ode I have on the UI. If you need to see the adapter class also, please let me know and I'll present it, too.

basically i fot a form with 5 questions u could say and i got a toolstrip with a progrss bar wat i want to do is as each question is ansered in reality by the user i want the progress bar to go up.
min value is 0 max value is 100 as ther is 5 questions as each questiion is ansered the bar shoul go up by 20
so they anser Q1 it goes up to 20 they answr Q2 it goes up to 40 until they anser the last questyion and the bar is full
I have already asked about the problem in java forum.Now i think the solution is only possible through microsoft products.Problem is i want to get the handle of a application and send commands to that application.Is it possible commands are send to combo box , text area, buttons etc..
