Way To Remove All Other Cursor Types From Application Collection?

I have a nice mouse cursor that I attached to every event on the form and the controls, and I would like it to remain always the same cause some times it changes to cursor appstarting.Is there a way to remove all the other cursor types from the application collection?

I know there's the old, late-bound, VB6 Collections, but I was looking for something like Generics, but either without having to specify the type at compile time, OR finding a clever way to allow the code to determine the type on its own and then call some generic class.Why? I'm bored, and I thought it'd be fun to try and implement my own library for NBT, or NamedBinaryTag.It's the storage format used in the popular Minecraft game.url...I know there are existing implementations out there, but there's no point in copying those if I'm doing this solely as a learning experience to get a better grasp on file streams, byte arrays, endian conversion, and general .NET stuff (I used to fiddle with VB6/VBA a lot, so .NET is a huge change).

What's hanging me up is TAG_Compound. Per that specification, it's essentially a collection of objects of any other Tag type, including additional, nested TAG_Compounds. You can do some freaky nesting/recursion with this kind of a format.I've got a rough outline in my head of how to do the other classes, but the storage of arbitrary types is just making me draw a blank on how to store that in a stub class (clsTagCompound) So that a generic class (clsNBT(Of T)) can use generic functions to access the payload.List(Of T) looks like it could work if I could feed it a common interface. But since a Generic class will be the main component used, its interface is also generic, and that just leads to nasty generics chain (List(Of (clsNBT(Of XXX))).[code]What I'm thinking of doing, is making all derived classes implement INbt(Of T).For clsTagCompound, its SetPayload method will start walking a bytestream after the compound's name field is parsed. For each new TagType that it encounters, it would theoretically call DirectCast on a temp variable Dim'ed to INbt(Of T) to convert it to the class defining that particular TagType.But this doesn't seem to work as planned. I believe my Catch 22 is that to even use clsTagCompound, I still have to define T, and that's where I get stuck again. I somehow need to create an interface that is NOT generic, yet can be applied to all the classes for the various Tag types and still call their GetPayload function to return the payload specific to a particular tag.

Initializing Class Collection Of Inherited Types

Is there a way to have a class collection of inherited types be initialized? For example, here is my code:
Public Class CamryCar
Property Name As String = "Camry"
Property Color As String
End Class
Public Class RedCamry

I prefer this one as I don't have an extra property to deal with. But I can find a way to initialize that that list with objects of RedCamry and BlueCamry. Is it impossible or is there another way to do this?

Every LINQ example I have seen for VB.NET anonymous types claims I can do something like this:

Now when I go to iterate through the collection(see example below), I get an error that says "Name "x" is not declared. For Each x in Infos It's like VB.NET doesn't understand that Infos is a collection of anonymous types created by LINQ and wants me to declare "x" as some type. (Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of an anonymous type?) I have added the references to System.Data.Linq and System.Data.DataSetExtensions to my project. Here is what I am importing with the class:

I have 10 items in the listview.I have 10 Object of this 10 items in the collection.I want to loop through the collection then remove the items from listview. The index of the items is stored in the 10 objects, and static unchanged.If I use for each loop, once the items has been removed, the index of every item in the listview will changed.(when you remove an item in the listview, the next line item will get shift up a row)How am I going to fix this? if using for each loop, some of them items will not get deleted.Or is it possible to do a "Do Loop" or "Backward For loop" for a type collection?

I have a datagridview with two columns a text box and a combo box. I can add to the combo box collection but can't determine how to remove part of a collection. Example combobox has 10 items as follows: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.

I only want to show a number 1-10 when another label has the same associated number.I have 10 labels named 1-10 but I only want the combobox to display a number 1-10 when the corresponding label has been selected previously. So, if labels 1-5 have been selected by the user than I want to have my dgv combobox to display only 1-5 and remove 6-10. I have searched but have not been able to find a similar post.

I am considering a piece of code that will manage access to a collection object from multiple threads - add, update, remove, clear. OK ... so I have put a sync lock within each method, but what is not clear from the MS documentation is exactly how the sync lock is behaving. Is it locking the piece of code it wraps? Or is it locking the object? And if it is locking the object a private static object should lock out any code locked on the object within all instances of the object? i.e. if an add operation is underway, an update, delete or clear will wait for the lock to be released.

Finally, if I have multiple threads contending for the sync lock, how is the release managed? First come, first serve? random (from my p.o.v)? Is there a chance that two separate threads could blunder into 'locked' code simulataneously?

So I have a pretty large application. This app communicates with hardware using a RS422 protocol. Now I'm working on the same app, except it will be using TCP/IP to communicate with the hardware. So this is using different code to do this.But I don't want to write two different applications, because that is two apps I would have to keep updated both of them. The apps are the same exept for the way they communicate with the hardware. Now I can limit the change down to 1 form, all the other forms would stay the same.

(using VB.Net 2008) I am trying to save one of my custom types to the application settings. I've read a variety of opinions on the internet about whether this possible.

When creating an app setting, none of my types appear when browsing. However, previously I needed to save off one of my datasets, and it worked simply by hand-entering it as the setting type (ie, I just typed "MyProjectName.DatasetName"). However, when I try the same trick with another custom type that isn't a dataset, I get a "type was not found" error. So I'm a little confused, can the program "find" some custom types and not others?

Suppose in .NET (don't care what language) I want to show a user a PDF, Word and Excel file together. I am trying to replicate a document process where a user might have a PDF file and he would like to attach a WORD file and an Excel file let's say to make a stack of documents (that I would save in some directory). Then he would like to click on a button and see a stack of these documents in 1 application of some sort.How can I display the stack of documents WITHOUT first opening WORD, then openinig EXCEL and then openining ADOBE ACROBAT - this would be really annoying for the user. I would like one unified application or some idea to mimic one in .NET that can just show all 3 documents as if they were printed one after the other on paper. (I hope I am explaining this clearly)

I have a class with a Property called 'Value' which is of type Object.Value can be of any type, a structure, a class, an array, IList etc.My problem is with the setter and determining whether the value has changed or not.This is simple enough for value types, but reference types and lists present a problem.For a class, would you assume that the Equals method has been implemented correctly, or just assume that the value has changed every time the setter is called?If I did assume it's changed, then perhaps I should assume it for value types as well, so that the behaviour is consistent.

I'd like to store a set of key/value pairs in the application settings of my ASP.NET web app, but I'm not finding a straightforward way to do that. For example, these two questions tell me that StringDictionary etc. won't serialize to XML and suggest that I'll have to roll my own implementation. But it seems like this should be easier to do; after all, web.config is XML and < applicationSettings> is essentially a collection of key/value pairs, so it feels like I'm missing something obvious. Given my specific case below, do I really have to roll my own serialization, or is there an easier workaround?

The web app in question is a basic contact form that sends email to different recipients based on the value of a parameter; e.g. [URL]...The goal is to be able add or remove recipients (or change their addresses) by editing the web.config file so that I don't have to recompile and can easily maintain different configurations in test and production environments. For example:
