I've started making a Minesweeper game in vb.net using a dynamically created grid of buttons, which are stored in a 2D array. I have another 2D array (Boolean), that keeps track of whether a certain position is covered or uncovered. And I have an 'update grid' method that can be ran whenever, to update the grid, so that all that should be uncovered is uncovered on the screen.

View 5 RepliesI am looking to prompt the user to save data when they close a form window in a winforms application. I can't figure out how to trigger the prompt to the user, should they click the red box at the top right corner of the form.
My application currently has a boolean flag, that is set to True on textchanged event. So I will only need to check for the boolean value in whatever event is trigger by the red box.
I have a windows user control that reads events from the application log of a remote server. I can read in the information alright, and it appears to happen very quickly, however the thread hangs up for about 30 seconds afterwards and keeps my application from displaying the log.
I am afraid that this is probably caused by my lack of experience in dealing with threads, but I cannot be certain. I am definitely open to any suggestions with my threading here.
The easiest way to see what I am referring to is when the btnClear_click event handler is called. After jumping through the threading worm hole, it goes to the LoadFilteredEvent method. The results load fairly quickly from the ManagementObjectSearcher, but it hangs up for 30 to 60 seconds on the next statement.

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to Read Minesweeper's Process Memory, At a certain Address and i want to write to that address then read it again and check to see if the writing is successful.
I've been trying to use WriteProcessMemory and ReadProcessMemory, But it seems that I don't know how to make WriteProcess write properly, and I have almost know clue as to how Readprocessmemory works. I just tried reading the exact same things as i was writing.
What I decided on designing was too make a Program that will Hook the program in Textbox1.text (winmine) and then write the NOP's from textbox2.text (Whatever that is) to the ADDRESS specifiyed in the Textbox3.text. Then textbox4.text is just byte's written(I still have yet to figure out what that is in WriteProcess).
So far, It successfully hooks the Application, But it does not write it, and Yes, I d have the proper address, and I'm writing the proper NOP's.

So I'm developing a minesweeper flags game and the multiplayer version is all set up, but the single player version is still under developement. It's important to refer that I'm using a DataGridView, and I'm applying r = tab1.CurrentCell.RowIndex + 1 and c = tab1.CurrentCell.ColumnIndex + 1 to see where the player clicks. What I want to do is to make the AI click any random cell when it's turn comes, but how do I do this.
View 1 RepliesI have fully programmed my Minesweeper; however, I was having difficulty trying to get the same result as in the original minesweeper for when a user clicks and moves the mouse around while still right clicking. You may notice that in the original Minesweeper, when a user does as explained, the tiles that the user goes to will then look blank. If the user releases the mouse, the current tile they hovered to will become the clicked tile. In my Minesweeper, the tile I click on is the only one that will look blank, and when I hover over to the next tiles, they do not get blank like the first one I clicked on. Then when I release my mouse button when over to another tile, the very first tile I clicked on is the one that gets uncovered.
Here is what I already have used. I have the MouseDown event which checks to see if the game has been started to begin the game timer. It also has some color properties for tiles when I click on them and I set a boolean to true or false depending on the user left or right click. I have the MouseUp event which looks at the boolean to determin what the user had clicked on the mouse so I know if I flag or simply click to uncover. Then I have the MouseEnter and MouseLeave which are needed to yield the proper glow I want for the tiles. What should I do to get the same results as in the original Minesweeper with the MouseDown and MouseEnter into other tiles? I tried many other things such as MouseEnter, MouseMove and MouseHover, but all seem to yield the same crummy result as what I already have.

I'm beginning the process of trying to recreate minesweeper. See the attached picture of the version on my computer. My guess would be all the click-able locations are images. But notice the beveled borders around all the components, and how they separate the different section of the game. How would I go about created that? And what about the digitized timer and mine counter. Are those images too? I'm fairly new to VB programming (windows programming in general).
View 4 RepliesWhen the user clicks the Exit button it closes the forms and if there was an open file it asks the user is they would like to save. But after the application closes there is still memory being held in Processes by the application. However, when pressing the [X] in the top of the form the application closes again but in this instance it is not held in Processes. How do I write the close for Exit to take into account how the [X] works and close the application cleanly?

Is it possible to set a project default for VB.NET winforms projects so that the default Modifier for controls added to winforms is Private (not Friend)?I know there's a "modifiers" property in the properties window so I can set it for each individual control however I would like to change the project so from now on myself and other developers have to specifically decide to change from friend to private. (Which I would strongly discourage them from doing).I believe there is no way of doing this, but on another forum a while ago someone mentioned it would be possible with an add-in (but didn't name the add-in or where to get it).

I want to use this control kind of like an animated icon within a application, but because the picture box is docked, the control I created won't respond to the events, MouseHover specifically. no errors with this code, but how is Me possible since the Event is shared. it seems like there's no errors between switching shared with un-shared and switching Me with Myclass, all 4 combinations seem to work, isn't that weird

When you are trying to navigate and move things on your form and accidentally double-click, it adds a sub procedure On-Click to the form, then you have to waste time and delete that segment and get back to your workspace.Does anyone know is there an option in the UI options somewhere to change this, so that when you double click it doesn't perform that way? View 6 RepliesI have a button (named Test) and I have the X and Y coordinates of the 3 buttons (Which are A, B and C) to click. Now what I want to do is, when the Test(button) is pressed, timer1 (22 seconds) would start and after 22 seconds it presses automatically button A and if it isn't the right button then it will wait another 22 seconds and then presses button B and if it is right it will start another 22 seconds and if it is wrong it would start another 22 seconds and press button C. If the correct button was B then another 22 seconds would start and this time it would start again from A.
1.When Button TEST is press the timer will count down 22 seconds.
2.After 22 seconds it will press the button A (timer will stop)
3.If button A was the correct letter then Timer will count another 22seconds.
4.If button A was wrong it will start the timer (22seconds) and then press B (timer stopped).
5.If button B was correct, timer will start another 22 seconds (back to step 2)
6.If button B was wrong then timer will start and will click button C. (timer stopped)
7.If button C was correct then timer will start (Back to step 2)
8.Will continue like this until 25 clicks had been made then it will stop.
