So when people select this name then the phone number should appear on the textbox

I dont know any code to show thats why i dont have any idea what to add the phone numbers
With this code i check the serial serialnumber of a usb stick.

It is not perfect because the programma crash when there is no usb in de PC.But how do i search fot the sctick if it has a name , for example PPH ? And not G: , because it is everytime a different station.
I am trying to get serial port communication working between two PC's.
My environment is: XP SP3, 9 pin serial ports on both ends, connected by a null modem cable, Visual Basic 2010 Express.
I have a sending routine and a receiving routine, both based on the on line documentation.
There are no Errors, Warnings or messages.
Problem: The receiving machine shows no sign of receiving a message sent by the sending PC. I have tried making the sending PC into the receiving PC - makes no difference.
My sending routine looks like this:

I have also set the DropDown Width to 250.I have set the auto complete mode to suggest and the auto complete source to listitems.it works absolutely fine when i click on the drop down. but when i type in somethin, the auto complete mode activates a drop down which has a small width.i wanna know how to increase the width of the auto complete drop down via code so that the list items are viewed properly.I am using C#

I developed it in Windows XP, it ran fine in Windows 2000 and now when the company upgraded the machines to Windows 7, the application does not kick off. All platforms were/are 32-bit. I did some research online, but have not found anything relevant to resolve my issue. Does anyone know what the issue might be and the possible solution to it?
View 5 RepliesI have a form that displays a graph. From the appropriate toobar button click frmGraph.show is called and it works. But when I call it from the assigned F6 function key the graph hardly ever displays. Sometimes it does display properly, sometime it flickers a one time display of the graph then it's gone, but mostly the form just draws the background but no graph. In debugging this i discoverd that putting a message box just before the call to frmGraph.show the graph will display properly everytime after i click ok in the messagebox. Anyone know how to cure this or at least a workaround that doesn't involve displaying the messagebox? This is the code with the messagebox("here") just above the call.

im using vb 2008 to read serial port data. my requirement is as follows, when the data is received from the serial port a timer is enabling in order to blink a button saying "tank empty". so i have written the code with the aid of this forums. but now my problem is the blinking button function is not working. first i thought its cuz timer is not enabling inside the serial_dataReceived event. so i invoked a dummy label. so the timer works. but its blinking function is not working.

adding to the binding source then setting the combobox to selectedIndex of newly added row is not working.the new row is in there but it does not set the selectedIndex to the specified index. but if I run the code a second time it selects it.what can i do to make sure the combo uses the specified index?

I started a forms solution in VB 2008, created a datasource to an access database (2010) and used the datagrid view to display the data. 3 fields in the access database are lookup fields with 2-8 values each, typed in by me, since the linking to other fields did not work. This is not working either. When I change the column to combo-box or not, those values, typed into access, are NOT showing up in the datagrid. the combo box has its drop down arrow but the value fields are empty.

I am programming in visual basic 2008 I would like to set up serial numebers for software im developing. I would like to prevent software theft by ensuring that each purchased copy has a unique serial number that can only be used once. How would i create this so
a.) The serial numeber can only be used once
b.) The software cannot run without a correct serial number
c.) The serial number verification box pops up on ONLY the first use of the program and goes away after correct serial number is entered
d.) a serial number generation and verification program

1: Now the send and received data is shown in one RichTextBox but I would like to split this into two RichTextBoxes (RtbSend and RtbReceived).It is unclear to me how and were data is assigned to the RichTextBox?

I'm using Visual Basic 2010. I have my dataset in my program. I'm have several combo boxes on the form that I was able to bind the particular table with the information from each table to most of the combo boxes by dragging and dropping them onto the combo boxes. However, one combo box in particular must be populated by code. When a user selects, let's say "a" from one combo box, I need the next combo box to display information in certain tables only, based upon their choices in the previous combo box.

I'm trying to use:
SelectedIndex = 0 to select the 1st. item of a combo box. Instead of displaying a customer name the combo box shows "System.Data.DataRow"
It works if the user actually selects something in the combo box but I would like to do this in code.

Airport Name (ICAO Code)
For Example
Kansas City Intl (KCI);
Since I have so many, Can someone provide me with a code i can use so in a textbox the user has to only put the icao code and it will display the airport.
For example
TextBox1.Text = KCI
Once that user has clicked out of the text box, It will seach the combo box for any values with KCI and will display it
So if textbox1.text = KCI, then combobox1.value = Kansas City Intl (KCI)
