I have a vb.net 2008 application which has its corresponding icon.
The icon shows correctly except in the taskbar when the "small icon" setting is on.
My vb.net project includes a .ico file which when I see in the IDE includes 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 64x64 and 256x256 bitmaps, in 4, 24 and 32 bits, also 3 .png images in 256x256 32 bits each.
I made the icon myself simply using a 64x64 bitmap and then converting it to .ico, and assigning it to the application in the project properties. I thought windows would use and escalate the corresponding image, it shows even in the file explorer properly in the small icon form, but not in the taskbar.
I need to find the local temperature and load that information on to a windows desktop application, which has to be programmed either using vb or C#,

My question is I'm trying to let the user input the temperature number and the temperature type at the same time and the program will convert the temperature as instructed
But when I run the program and I type in for example 5,c I get an overflow error but if I just type 5 then it just converts.I'm trying to get the letter to work and not overflow.For example I want the user to have a choice of either typing in a number,f or number,c.
Is it possible to create a windows application in VB to take form input of a text box and put that to a sharepoint server as new list item?I want an exe that when ran, opens to a form with a text box or two and a submit button, that creates a new list item on a sharepoint list.I am using VS 2005 , code in VB. All my google searches come up with stuff that seems to run on the sharepoint server itself, not a program i hand out to people to run from the desktops.I've tried so many permiations of what i found through google searchs and my brain just hurts atm. View 1 RepliesI are trying to write a small program for iTunes using Windows COM. We are able to talk to iTunes and create popup boxes that show the current track, and a few other small things. However, when we try to set this info to a Label for example, we get:
InvalidOperationException was unhandled by user code Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'Label1' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on.
The program then hangs and locks iTunes from closing. I believe the issue is the event handler I have created, which I know very little about. We are using VB 2010, so that may change some things. We followed a rough example from a forum post HERE. If you scroll down the orange text, you will see a reply right after by Will Hughes with a "Handles iTunes.OnPlayEvent". If I add this to the end of my event handler, I get:
Handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types. Not sure if its important to the issue or not, but I found it curious. Our code is shown below.

I am trying to write a small program that shows a clock using a timer in vb.net, I want the clock to display the time and date as a binary display i.e. if it's 10:01:21 the clock would display boxes or buttons in rows going from 1 to 2 to 4 etc upwards and changing colour when at certain times. the example time above would be a button for 8,a for 2 to make the 10 o'clock, a button for the 1 minute and a button for the 16, 4 and 1 seconds making 21 seconds.

Its an application to calculate student grades for a group project. Create a text file to store names of 5 students, line by line. In a separate file enter peer evaluations from 0 to 1.0. Enter these numbers for evaluations:
1.0, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0, 0.6
0.2, 0.9, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7
0.5, 1.0, 1.0, 1.5, 0.9
0.9, 0.9, 0.9, 1.0, 1.0
1.0, 0.9, 1.0, 0.8, 0.9
This means that student 1 gave 1.0 evaluation for himself , 0.8 for student 2, 0.9 for student 3 etc.Student 2 gave 0.2 for student 1, 0.9 for him- herself, 0.5 for student 3 etc. Read these into a 2-dimensional array. If any of the values is greater than 1.0, set them to 1.0. The program should calculate the average evaluation for a student. While doing so, the program should ignore evaluations that student gave to him-herself. Populate a list box with student names when the form loads. The user should enter a project grade (same for everyone) in a textbox. Then the user can select a student from a list and click �Calculate� button. The program should display the project grade for that student by multiplying average evaluation by the grade for the whole group (project grade).

View 5 RepliesI have written one application which communicate with one data logger unit (temperature monitoring unit) and download records after some interval. Unit continuously send current temperature which I have to show on screen and after each one hour I have to download log (all records saved inside unit at max 1024) from unit.
Now problem is after downloading log, application get hang or what we called working in background and resume after some time. If I pause debugger in visual studio 2008 it show control at application start (sub main) with message as "application will resume here after completing execution of current function". There is nothing in output window. So how can i trace is there any events got spool or what actually application doing in background.
